An easy, DIY automatic watering system made with inexpensive PVC pipes and valves that attach to basic soaker hoses.

There are no complicated drip systems or expensive irrigation runs with an involved control panel.

Just a list of basic supplies that are easy to find at any home store - and there’s even a printable to download to take to the store!

With a simple 2-station automatic timer, it’s set once at the beginning of the season and I basically don’t think about watering again.

Did I mention it was my favorite?

Here's the tutorial we created (both print and video) if you want the same thing:

I pretty much know you will love this. 😀

If you are passionate about growing your own food but feel discouraged by increasingly toxic additives and uncertain weather conditions, School of Simple Living has some exciting tools and techniques to show you.

No, it’s not cloudbusters.

But ,one technique is used to harness solar energy for crop growth on the foliage level.

Another technique is using inverted copper pyramids and fire to purify and energize the atmosphere. The remnants can be used as energetic fertilizer.

Ben “Bharat” will share more lesser unknown ancient techniques and principles in a free Lazy-Intelligent, Super-Resilient Growth Mindset masterclass on the full moon of May 21st!

Let’s overcome the obstacles that come with spraying toxins in the air- and at ground-level.

My friend Ben “Bharat” who interviewed me for Get Out Of The City (2020) and The Simple Living Reset (2024) is as happy as I am, to see each single soul be set free from the shackles of the system; taking back our food supply chain with ancient, holistic techniques.
I think I might be giving this away before he is ready but my time in your inbox is winding down quickly, so go check it out - Energetic Garden Hacks Masterclass

Keep grow'n,

@Jimi I don't think I've ever seen you post about growing garlic. Have you tried it? It's super easy. All you have to do is throw down the cloves on the soil, along with some mulch if you have it, no mulch if you don't have it..

I found out because I was using garlic cloves among other things to keep stray cats out of our front garden, which is mainly a landscape garden, but the cat waste was causing adverse effects. I just threw down the cloves for the smell (cats don't like it), and before long the cloves put down roots and sent up shoots. I never picked them. I wanted that garlic smell to keep growing there.

It will keep away some of those critters who like to share your garden abundance too.

Attention Herb Gardeners: This is Important...
I have an important post today...

When I started gardening in the Pacific Northwest nearly 30 years ago, I thought our abundant rainfall meant that water would always be plentiful. Not so much anymore. Regardless of your location, water conservation has become crucial for herb gardening.

Much like the gradual but profound appreciation one might develop for an unassuming herb, I've come to realize the immense value of low-water gardening strategies—both for our gardens and our planet.

Today, I am honored to share an inspiring article by Rebecca Diane, who highlights the increasingly crucial practice of sustainable gardening amid changing environmental conditions. As someone deeply connected to the earth and its cycles, Rebecca's insights are a testament to the resilience and adaptability we must cultivate in our own gardens.

In her article, Rebecca emphasizes the critical nature of these strategies, particularly in regions like Arizona, where water scarcity is a pressing issue. However, her advice holds invaluable lessons for gardeners everywhere, urging us to rethink how we nurture our plants.

Here’s what you’ll discover:

  • Strategic Choices for Drought-Tolerant Plants: Learn which herbs and plants thrive with minimal water, reducing your garden's demand on local water tables.
  • Deep Watering Techniques: Explore methods that encourage deeper root growth and enhance soil moisture retention, making your plants more drought-resistant.
  • The Benefits of Sustainable Practices: Understand how these methods not only conserve water but also improve the flavor, potency, and health of your plants.
Rebecca’s article is a clarion call to embrace more mindful gardening practices that could significantly reduce our ecological footprint and even our water bills. Whether you're looking to refine your existing garden or start anew with sustainability at the forefront, these strategies are essential.

Read the full post here and join us in nurturing a more sustainable future, one garden at a time.

Thank you for your commitment to sustainable living. Together, we can make a difference.

Warm regards,
John Gallagher
LearningHerbs

P.S. I'd love to hear how you implement these strategies in your garden! Please share your experiences and insights in the blog comments.
