So I ordered a pack of the new kanger .2 vertical occ coils from sweet vapes as soon as they were available. Just tried one on Friday and wow, what were they thinking? Wattage recommendations on the side of the coil show 25-80 watts. Construction looks the same other than slightly larger juice holes and a thicker gauge wire inside.

Placed inside my Subtank mini and primed with a high vg juice. Starting at a low wattage to break it in. Not much vapor till about 30-35 watts. Vapes like crap until about 55 watts. Coil spits and pops like a maniac, floods like 1800's northern Holland, and tastes like crap. Kanger coils never have needed a break in to taste good but these apparently do. For a decent vape I would have to run it around 60-65 watts. It runs wayyyyy too hot at that point and no way it could get to 80.

To top all this off it fluctuates to below .15ohms during use at which point it can't be run on my d2 or Istick 100w. Say nothing of the fact that even if it held at .2 it still couldn't be run on my Subox mini or nano. Seems like kanger just wanted to be able to say they had a higher wattage coil.

Anyone else had different results? I got 4 more and may try another with the hopes that the first was a dud.

I wouldn't go that low on the STM. There's just not enough airflow IMO. I've moved away from that tank and pretty much only have it as a backup.

I agree with Matt, send me one and then we'll have multiple opinions!!! ;) I stopped at my local shop today just browsing around and discovered they had .5 ohm Vertical Coils for the sub tank. I was unaware of that, they are marked for 15 to 60 watts! Had to buy a couple to try but haven't yet!! juice holes are a touch bigger than my 35mm coil rod! They didnt mention anything about a .2 coil.
Has anyone tried these?

Just got the 0.2 SSOCC from DirectVapor.com and after putting juice on the cotton, filling the tank and letting it sit for about five minutes, I started vaping at the minimum wattage, 25.1 actually. Got good clouds right away. Brought it up in small increments. It is at 50 Watts now. Runs pretty warm, but makes a very satisfying cloud, and the 80% VG juice I have (Fresh Squeezed by
Element) tastes rich and and better than a .5 coil at 35 Watts. No spitting, no gurgles. It works quite well. I am using the top fill Subtank Mini on the TC Kbox Mini, which can run up to 70 Watts. While writing this, I brought it up to 60 Watts and it produced a massive amount of Vapor. Probably the best Kanger coils yet. But, as with all prebuilt coils, there are bound to be duds out there. Hope this helps anyone else thinking of trying them!

I just bought the KangerTech iKEN kit, and it comes with these new .2 ohm coils. I did some research, and the o-rings on the bottom of the coils give away the coil material. The ones that I have are pink o-rings, and that denotes 316L Stainless Steel.

I put them on temp control at about 450F, and they are just great. Hope this helps.

You do realize the coils the OP was talking about were "New" in 2015 and for the subtank mini right??
