What wattage/temp are you vaping at? Might start at a lower wattage/temp (if in TC mode with Ni200) and work your way up until you find your sweet spot. Welcome to VU.

What Nic level are you using? If your Nic is above a 6mg, you're gonna feel the hit pretty hard, it is an octuple coil after all. Try dropping your wattage like @ChrisL said, and if you're still getting too much throat hit, try dropping your Nic level. The TFV4 is a beast tank, so the octuple coil might be too much for some.

Hey guys need a little help first mech mod i ever had dont really know too mich about it.. I just got the rig mech mod and everything was working fine until i took it apart cuz i was curious to see the parts and how it works when i put it back together i put the battery in and hit the fire button and it wasnt firing the coil but the battery was getting really really hot and even melted a little bit??? Man, I hope this is a joke...

#1 - DO NOT USE THIS MECH MOD UNTIL YOU LEARN HOW TO USE A MECH MOD!!!
#2 - What is the brand/model of the mod? Is it the actual "Rig" made by Flawless?
#3 - DO NOT USE THIS MECH MOD UNTIL YOU LEARN HOW TO USE A MECH MOD!!!

Listen to the Chef!
youre hard shorting your battery, and probably put the mod together wrong.
DO NOT use the mech. Take it to a shop and let them make sure its together properly. While you are there ask them to teach you how it works, and about ohms law and battery safety,

No im actually pretty sure its a fake from further examining and research that pic is the piece i was talking about it came with a budha atty on it

That's a hybrid type cap.

You need to learn about mech safety, such as OHM's law and battery safety BEFORE you even attempt to use this mod again. Period.

I do NOT know why shops are selling to the uneducated. I do NOT know why new vapers are flocking to mechs all the sudden either. They don't want to take the time to LEARN FIRST, before using a mech.

It's just stupid.

True. But these are not big box stores with pimple faced, minimum wage employees.

These are minimum wage employees with neck beards. They are "educated" and "professional" vapers in these shops.

They DO bear some responsibility to what they sell. Just like a beer store employee bears responsibility selling booze to someone obviously drunk at the check out line.

So what do they do ask if their customers are inbred before selling to them? Hi, there I wanna buy something I know nothing about, and though I;ve read articles and seen news stories of these things blowing up...I relly don't have any questions for you.........by the way if I cross the street without looking and get hit by a car I'm gonna blame you.

Honestly when you started vaping did you educate yourself or did you just leave it up to the world to bubble wrap your ass.

I don't knwo who pisses me off more greedy ass half educated shop owners, or dumbfucks who wander around looking for the biggest clouds and not taking the time to look out after their own asses. and then gives vaping a bad rep.

They could quiz them about batteries and builds. One local shop does exactly that. If the person knows nothing, they refuse the sale.

Simple.

Can we please get back to helping this member out and not turn this into another I'm right and your wrong debate.
No. How are we supposed to help them?

They buy a mech, and come here asking to "fix" it. Fix it, being I know jack shit, and tell me how to make this thing produce vapor.

Not how can I safely use this mod?

They already shorted it once. Next time it will probably be a boom.

getting back to the OP
between these two posts I don't know where to start...
I guess, for one, you should lower your nic. with that kind of power I would say stick around 3mg, and no higher than 6 mg if you were a heavy smoker.
or
you could have an issue with max vg, not everyone handles things the same. Some people have to vape all pg and others cant have pg at all.
on your mechanical.... like I said above take it to a GOOD shop, ask a lot of questions, and learn ohms law and battery safety. - for yourself, and those around you. I really hate reading about what some people do. If you have to use a mechanical, you have to respect the device enough to know how yo use it.

look...if you are using a hybrid adapter or a hybrid top cap you need to go on youtube qand watch 20 that's right 20 videos on the proper use of a hybrid mod and what kinds of attys can and cannot be used with them until you understan what NOT to do leave it the fuck alone.

It's not helping ANYONE watching you both go back and forth about how he got the damned mech, help teach him how to use it....OR NOT

There exist a metric shit ton of threads about safety with mechs, There are a dozen servers FULL of youtube videos about mechs.

How many times do we need to repeat ourselves?

IF they really wanted to learn, and not just get a "fast answer", they'd actually take the time and look. Right?

I'm tired of those seeking a "fast answer". They tend to be the dumb asses that blow shit up because they REFUSE to actually learn to use mechs safely.

It's these fucking sub-ohm tanks..they've made huge clouds the norm for vaping, and so the noobs think they can just screw part A into part B and hit a fucking button..they don't have to learn the mechanics.....you look every one of these accidents has to do with a cloud chaser you don't see people vaping 1 ohm having their mods blow up.Why.....
and also why don't we get pissed at the chinese who are shipping these Mc Nugget tanks over here to print..DO NOT USE ON A MECH MOD on the boxes of the shit they sell.why do we lay it on the shop owners....

Well, that's why I can't bring myself to give "fast answers". When you learn mech safety, these questions don't generally come up.

Show me you actually KNOW something, and I am happy to help. Act like a cocky turd with a new mech, and I have no reason to give you an answer.

You guys have a point. It wasn't that long ago that I was learning from vets like you all. Hell, pulsevape was one of them.
When I see these noob threads, I cringe myself at times. I cant help but think that while the points of view are valid, and, in a way beneficial, it gets to the point that the back and forth, along with totally derailing thread causes more harm than good.
No matter what, as long as vaping is popular, we will have new users looking to try things for the first time; some of which, will post threads like this.
That is good for the community as a whole.
I would rather see them post a thread like this, than to keep fiddling until the lose a body part or end up on youtube.

agreed .....but they need to know that we are fucking serious about this shit and we expect them to take care of themsleves, they need to know that ignorance and stupidity carry a price.....I have to train apprentices and if I tell them something is unsafe and I catch them doing it the get sent home for the day..it's cheaper for everybody that they stay home for the day than if somebody has to drive them down to the emergency room to get their finger sown back on.....

Hey @Jonathonveltri - if you're still here after all the argument as to why we shouldn't help you, a couple suggestions...

1. STOP using that Rig mod. Not only do you not appear to understand mechs, but hybrid mechs can be even more dangerous than standard ones, especially in the wrong hands (yours, at the moment). Here's a link to my big beginner thread I put together a while back:

http://vapingunderground.com/thread...-sick-clouds-bro-thread-sticky-edition.78126/

Read that, then follow the links in there and read them too. You won't have a perfect education, but you'll be well on your way to not attempting to blow your face off.

2. Stop using whatever battery you were using, especially if it was a bogus rewrap like a MXJO. Take it to Home Depot and look for the battery recycling bin just inside the front door. Chuck your battery in there. Once you've overheated a cell, you've killed it. If you try to use it again, please do so in an open field without anything nearby that could spark and start a wildfire - this way they only one you're going to kill is yourself. Don't use damaged batteries, ever.

3. Lower your nic level - even 6 on a TFV4 might be too much for you. If that doesn't work, try a high-PG liquid. I'm guessing the problem with your taste is nic-related, not VG sensitivity, which is why I'm recommending the two potential fixes in that order.

Stick with that regulated mod until you've got the time and motivation to properly educate yourself on how to use a mech, and then make sure you've got good batteries and an appropriate atomizer. I'd even recommend putting that Rig aside and looking into a more user-friendly mech for your first one, if you insist upon having one - unless you're going to go around looking for dick-measuring contests...err, cloud comps where regulated devices aren't allowed, chances are you'll get a better vape with less effort off your box mod.

I have knwon vapers who were doctors,chemists,engineers,toxicologists...and one of the greatest things I;ve enjoyed about vaping is the discussions with these people about how to make vaping better and safer,,,every new development or experiment the vaping commjunity got together on and discussed it's saftey...wire materials, wicking materials, compnents in juice, vaping tempratures....and experts from diffrent fields sharing their knowledge and the countless hours vapers spent researching all this stuff in order to make vaping safe 100s of thousand of hours of research.....all this was done not by the goverment but by the community to keep the goverment out of vaping for as long as possible, and the common knowledge that our own lack of diligence toward our saftey not only would endanger our own health but the freedom to stay tobacco free.
When the jackboots of the goverment kick down the doors to the vaping world it is my greatest hope that we refuse to hand our saftey over to somebody else, that we refuse to take the goverments word for our well being, and that we all continue to learn and teach ourselves and each other about how to stay tobacco free and safe.

If no ohm meter, voltage meter and a tank in hybrid... welcome to playing fuck fuck games with Darwin... All the recent boom stories are dumbfucks, sporting mechs in hybrid and tanks. ALL OF THEM, Do not be like the dumbfucks.
If the mech is a hybrid and you are using a tank on it... You are wrong there is no correct version to make it safe.
If your battery is anything other than a Samsung, Sony or LG.. you are playing with a hand and face full of fuck.

Tanks go on regulated only.
If you want to play the mech mod fuck fuck games get a dripper and a safe non hybrid mech and a good battery. and ohm meter, and inline voltage meter.

If some counter jockey at a shop sold you this bullshit he needs his ass kicked, fired and beaten with a rubber hose.
If a "friend" sold it to you... a cue ball in a sock and a bludgeoned the fuck into submission is in order.

Again my only advice toss the battery and the mod both and stick with using your regulated device until you learn ohms law and how to use a mechanical safely I can not in good conscience give you any other advice.

I think that depends on the tank... I've used kayfuns on mechs quite safely. But I don't want a hybrid anywhere in my vicinity, nor would I use any tanks with 'screw in' coil heads. If that's the kind of tank you mean, then yes. But a tank like a kayfun that uses rebuildable coils ONLY, can be used quite safely on a NORMAL mech with a 510 connector. But those hybrids... nuh uh. Accidents looking for a place to happen, unless you're a REAL expert!

By expert you mean...Willing participant in your own funeral?

I dunno, maybe. Maybe there's someone out there who can use a hybrid without anything untoward happening... ? Ever since I first started vaping, I've SERIOUSLY admired the look of the Valkyrie mod, but it's a hybrid; once I had learned enough about mechs to actually want one, I realized how dangerous that one could be. So I admire the one at my local vape shop everytime I go in there, but will never own one. :(
