I got the cheapest one from Amazon.com, and it was $30 with free shipping. Works like a dream, too!

I wouldn't get one at all. I used one for months before I started using a food dehydrator (from Bed, Bath, and beyond for $65). I find the dehydrator is perfect for steeping, I steep for 4 to 5 hours. Just turn on at 145deg F and let it go. Also, you can leave labels on since there's no water to worry about. I find the 5 hr. steeping to be the same as 3 hrs of Ultrsonic without having to constantly hit the button for the next 8 minute cycle. Quick steeping and no water mess. Perfect for me.

Would a ultrasonic remove rust from stainless steel?? I let my kayfun sit for a very long time and there's rust everywhere

Being a most devout "Whovian" I use a time machine to steep my E-Liquids.

Perhaps you know it as a Calender?

I set my liquids in a cool dark place, and mark my Calender to bring them back out of stasis at a certain point (with some shaking in between) and I find them to be better than they were.

I've often wondered if natural steeping would taste better than speed steeping. I'm sure I'm going to try it out one of these days, but I just keep vaping or giving away what I make too quick. I'd be interested to hear opinions from folks that have tried both on the same recipes. But I will test it one of these days to see.

I haven't done testing myself to see if the time machine method is better than speed steeping - using heat and shaking, or in combination, to steep. I only recently purchased an UC. After reading thread after thread about it, I decided on one from amazon because it also heats the water to a very hot temp if you do back-to-back cycles. This one does up to a 30-minute cycle, not the usual 8 minutes. I decided this would accomplish both the shaking and heat at the same time, save me some effort, and maybe produce the results people kept raving about. I'm not convinced that heat and shaking alone are enough (yet), but I've started using the UC anyway.

Edit - my only complaint about this model is the size of the well is small. You can basically fit 3 30ml bottles in there at one time and that's it, if you lay them on their side, horizontally. I haven't tested the water temp. to see how hot it gets. But, you run 2 back-to-back 30-minute cycles, the water is almost too hot to touch.

I would opt for a food dehydrator or a crock pot for speed steeping. I have tried every method under the sun and speed steeping does help move the process along IF IN FACT THE MIX NEEDS STEEPED. thats in bold because most things dont really need weeks or months to steep. the only thing I steep are tobaccos, vanilla custard, basically anything with "custard notes" like vanillas and creams or mixes with alot of different flavors. yes everything will smooth out after a couple days but not over flavoring seems to be the best way to get great mixes. most of the time but not always if I feel like the juice i just made needs to "steep" I will cut the flavoring back and its usually better. the heating of the liquid will create movement without an ultrasonic cleaner. I have burnt out 4 ultra sonic cleaners. those machies are not built to run for 4-8 hrs straight. I have made different set up with timers to go off at different times and its just such a hassle. like @flowerpots said there is not a lot of room either unless you spend a small fortune on a really nice UC and at that point you could have bought a crock pot a food dehydrator and 240 ml of VT nic lol. ultrasonic cleaners are loud. next time anyone has their UC out make a call on your cellphone and walk buy it. holy crap you cant get within 10 feet of the thing without blowing your eardrums out and the person you are talking to. the ultra sonic's were a break through for speed steeping but better ideas have emerged and have been tested by many and works just as well. I agree with @UncleRJ time works wonders but I know when I first started mixing I wanted my juice now and time is not a luxury you can buy with a visa card. making large batches of your favorite juice and letting it sit around as you vape it is the way to go because you dont have all kinds of crap out on the kitchen counter but speed stepping will work. in most cases it needs a few more days after speed steeping still to be really good. good luck and sorry for the long winded ramble but steeping is something I really researched and practiced and found out after alot of trial and error and wasted money that ultrasonics are expensive paper wieghts, most people have crock pots and are meant to run that long , time is the best and if it needs steeped adjust your flavoring and try again lol. most things I make are shake and vape. ........... if you got one already just rock it till the wheels fall off or trade the wife for the crock pot and she can clean her jewelry with the UC

I bought mine at meritline.com. they are a chinese company with great prices and free shipping. However, I hardly ever use it because it scares my dog! Really scares him! It gives off a barely noticeable high pitch. It was under $20, but only goes for 3 minutes. So, you either have to rubber band it or keep turning it on.

Looking at the Amazon link was funny. The section that lists "what other customer's bought" was wire, pliers, gallon of PG, plastic and glass bottles ... absolutley nothing related to jewelry. Just a handful of reviews mentioned jewelry. Most of it was about vaping. I wonder if manufacturers have figured that out yet?

Interesting. So. do you put the lids in and lay the bottles down? My dehydrator has compartments too low to stand bottles in it up I think.

I want the cleaner for cleaning all the fiddly little bits more than for steeping. The steeping is a bonus. I've heard that sitting in any warm area - on top of a coffee pot, in warm water, etc. will do about the same. I've heard people say the motion does more than the heat. I'm pretty undecided about what it is that accelerates steeping.

The dehydrator comes with stackable round trays to place things on. I just snipped a wedge portion out of the top 2 trays and 30ml bottles stand up during operation. But really, laying down wouldn't be an issue either as long as the caps are tight. Dehydrators work great, and easy for lazy types like me.

You can buy extra trays for 13.99 for 2, so if you want to replace the trays you cut it's pretty cheap too.

Heat slightly more than motion, but both together have the slight edge! Cheapest way to accomplish this is with a $10 crockpot. Use 'warm' setting for 4 hours with the lid slightly cracked, which will give you the optimal 150 degree temp.

Nice, the trays for my Fowlers one are not cheap here. I would have to lay them down. Going to try this next week I think. Would have been a bonus, heating the house this way in winter.

@creedthevaper I make knives, and have for about 15 years, stainless steel does rust, esp. 303 & 304, as well as 316(but only after a long time and very shitty conditions). @Drone I use egg crate(fluorescent light diffuser) for the inside of my deHydrator, it only cost about $7 bucks a sheet and you can make two racks, maybe 3 out of one sheet.

i would like to exelarate my steeping process , i need to steep 1L of juice or more at a time , anyone knows what kind of ultrasonic cleaner i should get and how much liter capacity it would take?

I think I may have found The cheapest way to heat steep e-liquid with ultrasonic action! I am using my old, and thoroughly cleaned, Foot Bath! Mine has a Heat and Vibrating motion that is ultrasonic. I fill with water that is 120°F to 150°F and set a timer for 4 hours. I check every thirty mins to an hour to make sure it doesn't get too hot and in 4 hours, Walla. Your juice has now been heat steeped and has had an ultrasonic bath. It works very well! I have made a bottle of juice and let it steep for 2 weeks and then made the same recipe and heat steeped it in my Hot Tub Time Machine and they taste the same and are the same color. You can probable find a Foot Bath at garage sales or at your local Goodwill Store. You might even have one in the very back of your closet. *~*

Great idea! Or you can use a $10 crockpt if you don't already have a foot bath :)

OK I have tried the crockpot and ultrasonic and I do think the ultrasonic does a little something without the heat on as well....maybe the constant agitation of the liquid. I heard of someone wrapping in socks and tossing in the dryer too:teehee:. A similar way I found to the dehydrator(dry) was putting it in a heating pad!! Super simple and works great(use a towel or bag for your juice if youre over cautious), some of em control temp too. Kept an eye on the temps with a thermometer in the beginning to see what mode to use(mine didnt have temp on it) and was way less messy than wet methods. I do like heat steeping lower around 120 and for a bit longer if needed. seemed the more heat the more the mix faded or faster(for me anyways).....I swear pocket steeping does the trick too though HAHA!!
Edit: I wanted to ask does anyone know if the lid has to be on the ultasonic or does it matter....??
