ahh I'm freaking out. I am absolutely loving the new mini super tank I bought but I can't get into the center to change the atomizer. How the hell do you unscrew this thing without a pair of pliers?
I really want to change the coil out for the 0.5

I've already tried using a small pair of leathermans to grip it with and I still can't take it apart

Run a small screw driver through the airflow slots on the base. Hold the top of the tank and use the screwdriver to break it loose. After doing it the first time, it comes apart much easier in the future.

I have never opened it before. I just barely bought the thing yesterday while I was down in Vegas... I really want to swap out the coil for the 0.5 ohm but I'm still having problems. I actually tried sticking something like a screw driver through the air flow base and twisting the top, it didn't work. I'll try again and post my results. Thanks for all the tips and advice. Also ,,, what the hell does putting it in the freezer do??

The combination of hot water and freezer expands and contracts the metal. I've never been able to open mine without a combination of those two - well that is until I bought the set of pliers :)

Then put on a rubber glove to give you more grip on the tank. The screw driver has always worked for us in our shops.

All of my super tanks are always difficult and also suoer tanks my friends own. With the mini, you stick a small screwdriver directly through the airhole, then it's easy. With the original, you need to wedge a small screwdriver in the airhole since it won't slide all the way through. This works 100% of the time.

So does that mean you got it open? I had a devil of a time earlier today with a Crown Uwell tank. It took me a nail tool and two sets of pliers to get it apart. Dang, that sucks!

If you can't find a screwdriver small enough to get in there... it comes with an allen L wrench curiously because there are no allen screws in the tank.

That is included to get the tank apart and fits perfectly through the entire base.

I recently got one still unable to get the base off. To change my coil I disassembled from the top and then removed the glass, installed the new coil and re assembled. I've gone through 3 or 4 coils and used this process each time, honestly I've flat out given up trying to do things the regular way.

You could use rubber gloves or you could take a couple rubber bands and wrap around the tank and unscrew it.

I bought 2 of the ST Mini's and I thought it was just my tanks that would not would not come apart. I used the screwdriver in the airflow holes "trick". Tobeco's little initiation to the Super Tank club... o_O.

a pair of these are really useful
use the circle part to twist open tanks without ruining them and use the tweezer part for building coils.

another cheap option is spark plug wire pullers

I bought my Tobecco Mini Super Tank about 3 weeks ago and have been able to open it, but I cannot remove the coil. It will be necessary in the near future and am hoping someone at a vape shop will help me.

Put the supplied allen key through the air holes in the base. Grab the coil with pliers if needed.
They put the allen key in the kit so you can unscrew stuff like the top of the tank or the coil... there are no allen screws ;)

If you are looking to remove the coil for replacement than you can do as shown in the picture. Use a small sharp object and puncture through the Cotton in any of the juice holes. Then use the screwdriver as a lever to unscrew the coil.

Notes: this will damage the coil so it can not be reused. And don't do this to install a new coil. Make sure your fingers are not atop the juice hole on the opposite side so as to avoid stabbing yourself. Do not do this while the tank is installed on a mod.

When installing a new coil make sure its fully screwed down (by hand is best, you can use a grip pad to help you grip the coil. Don't use a wrench or pliers) Then BEFORE assembling the rest of the tank, test it on your mod (or tab) to see that it's seen by the mod. The picture below shows my mod reading the (.2 ohm coil) at .26 ohm. If it is unread, try tightening the coil a little more. Once you get a proper reading you are good to prime, reassemble, fill and enjoy your vape.

^ This.

Even better:
If the coil does not read, rather than cranking down on it, remove it from the base and slightly pull the positive pin part of the coil out a bit. I usually do this every time as a rule before installing the new coil.

I always forget this with my st. Thanks for the reminder.

Got mine open with a pair of tiny scissors. Put them in the air holes and twisted. Perfect. Thanks for the advice guys

This must be one helluva tank if people are willing to do these things. Can't imagine vapers going to such lengths with an Atlantis, Triton, or Starre.

Anything that can be done to make it easier, like a few drops of juice in the right spots when the tank is first unboxed?

Also, is the Mini easier, and does 22 vs 25 mm matter? I was thinking 22mm Mini.

It's a great flavor tank and doesn't suck up juice like some other tanks.
.5 ohm coils vapes great at 40-60 watts so helps with battery life. I don't use it much anymore as I use rta's now. I only break it out when I travel.

Like any other tank it has it's quirks. Getting coils off is definitely one of them. But once you learn the proper install techniques it's easy.

Finally after reading all of your suggestions I've unscrewed mine reux mini with the help of 1 pyler and 1 rubber glove used by doctors :)
First wash it with a hot water so it get loosed
and then grab 510 thread side with pyler and coil side with your hands wearing gloves
it gonna open

ON mine the damn allen wrench broke clean in 2 while trying to open it. Didn't work. Finally got the top opened with a pair of pliers. Opening the top is easier IMO. Go for the top, and use something to hold like rubber gloves. Hot water will loosen things up a little, but still need pliers and gloves!

I use the allen wrench that came with the it and stick it through air flow and turn. Very affective and when I need a tank it is still my go to tank.

Lol, that was assembled good and tight I guess. I usually dont need anything but a kitchen towel but on occasion when I guess I over tighten the tank I use an allen wrench but barely get a bend out of it when I'm torque'ing on it.

The tank seals well, you don't have to tighten it to 80ft/lb... not directed to you but to all with this tank, just snug it up, don't gorilla grip it.

I just use the supplied L-wrench and some padded pliers. When reassembling, make sure the coil has an O-ring on the bottom. Some coils are missing it.

Probably unnecessary, but wear glasses just in case.

I inserted a standard 1/8" rivet, one in each airflow hole (single, small hole setting), and rotated them counterclockwise.

Position your fingers close to the base for better torque.

If the rivets bend, replace them with a new one, and continue on.

It took six rivets before it came loose.
