New to vaping and have a few questions

I just got a Reuleaux 2/3 with the smok tfv8. I'm using the coils. My question is what is the best setting to start with I started with 45w 3.67v but it gets hot and pops and drains the battery quickly. I have it at 35w at 3.19v right now and it works. Is that a safe setting to use. I'm just now getting into building coils etc. so any and all help would be great

What ohm coil are you using?

Regardless, you're certainly safe vaping at 45 watts.

The RX mods get warm, they have less than desirable wiring inside, and naturally you'll get the mod warm just from the atomizer attachment too.

Welcome to VU :)

First I'd like to say that in my opinion the TFV8 is in no way suitable for a new vaper, especially if he's using nic.

I find a few things strange here, [email protected] is 0.3 ohm and none of the TFV8 heads have such a resistance.
The TFV8 shouldn't get very hot at 45W unless you're doing something wrong, vape in a strange way or have the airflow closed too much so it can't get any air in there.
The 2/3 should easily last you all day at 45W unless you use incompatible/fake/defective batteries, which batteries are you using and where did you get them?

You won't get optimum performance with any of the heads at 45W and most certainly not at 35W.

I use the .15 ohm V8-T8 coil and need 120-140 watts to get good flavor and vapor. I can't imagine OP is getting anything at 45 watts, Should really up the wattage. Also the RX has pretty thin wiring inside and is prone to getting hot, as is the TFV8 It could just be the mod protecting tiself

Try it with the air-flow open and take a good lung hit. Sometimes you can get spit back and popping by inhaling too slow in my experience.

I use tfv8 the lowest wattage I use is 70. I typically stay around 100 to 120 watts tho. My only advice is the airflow not being open enough. Plus I use the rx 200 and it gets pretty warm fast so I thank it's normal for the rx series.

Can you post a pic of your coil build and the resistance? Any build is "safe" on a regulated mod. It either works or it won't fire.
http://www.steam-engine.org/coil.asp is very useful for coil building and testing your builds, ramp up, vape temp. I looked at the smok tfv8, but didn't bother getting one. My mod wouldn't run it properly, so I stick with RDAs (drip atomizers)
Coil building is pretty fun, but get yourself some nice 3x reading glasses (I got mine at the dollar store). If you build claptons, it is helpful to be able to SEE that 34ga wire you are wrapping with. LOL.

Wouldn't it have been better to ask first before buying lol. Also never heard of it at all. Looked it up. I guess it looks decent enough

First of all. You need to buy a charger, that can take 3 batteries, and you need to have "married" batteries.
If not, the device will tell you that you have low battery, or something to that nature.
Married batteries is when you ALWAYS charge them to geather, use them togeather and never ever use them seperatly.
This is a must.
Also when buying batteries, be 100% sure that its the real deal.
Go to a vape shop or order from a well know site.
This is alfa omega. You need good batteries when building your own coils/ sub ohm vaping.
My 2 cents.

Just get into the habit of buying top quality brand name batteries. You will not regret it. I just spent $30 for 2 LG HG2 for my regulated mod. It is well worth the extra $2 to $5 per cell, just for the fact that LG tests and rates their batteries accurately, and only puts their brand label on batteries that have passed ALL quality control tests. No mod, regulated or mechanical is 100% safe. So we need to make them as close to 99.99% safe as we can make them. Using brand name, proper batteries is one way we cut our risks.
