Hi, I've built a dual ni200 coil for the griffin 25 rta on top of the kbox 200 in TC. It's 28g- 10 wraps- comes out at 0.07.. The problem I'm having, is getting my head around how this won't just turn my kbox into a grenade. On the vape tool app I have.. Running this coil would draw about 104 amps. I've been working with kanthal for a while and I've never had any doubts in working out the safety for my batteries. I'm not comparing the two as i know nickel behaves differently to kanthal. Just wondering if someone could explain where I've gone wrong?
Thanks

Nothing wrong with what you did, The box will regulate so the amp draw isn't too high and plus Ni200 wire increases resistance when heated which will lower the amp draw as well

Well, your atomiser is connected to the output of the board of your device, not directly to the battery-so resistance isn't the deciding factor in amp load on a regulated mod-wattage is.

How many watts are you running it at, then we can work out how many amps are being drawn by dividing by the input voltage-you will probably be surprised that it is well within the safe limits of your batteries :).

It's a kbox 200 so the watts In TC start of at 200 then when you fire it, the watts drop to 7.3 then it'll rise. I have changed my build to dual SS coils. Just couldn't get a decent flavour with ni200.. Bought a load of wire to play with so figured I'd give it a shot.

Fair enough, I'm pretty sure the Kbox 200 states 200W but actually maxes out around 160W, so at cutoff voltage the 160W would be a max of 25A before chip efficiency, once it drops it will be much more sedate, at 7.3W it is pulling just 1.14A, so at an average it will be within the safe limits of your batteries.

Definitely try out a few different builds if you have a lot of wire to play with, I myself prefer SS to NI200 now. Just know that you are within safe limits using your device :).

I see, im glad you've clarified this for me. I've tried searching all this info for peace of mind but never got a straight answer till now. Started building coils a few months back now I seem to be hooked. Got some 34g, 32g,26g kanthal... 26g ss and for some reason the company sent me some free nife 70 wire. Gonna try some new builds :) :)

FYI if you want to temp control nife you need a dna or hohmtech device

Good point regarding the NIFe, although wouldn't any device with the option of a custom TCR suffice? Obviously something like an Evolv device will work a bit better with a custom CSV, but it would still work well enough to use?

Maybe, but not much info on the tcr for it

Ahh fair enough, I am not too versed in using NiFe, I have some NiFe30 but found I preferred other wire types. Is NiFe70 the same as Nifethal70? If so it is available on the wire wizard on steam engine which may help people using other devices.
