Hi, as the title says ECF just shut down my thread so I was hoping I'd be FREE to discuss it here. What happened was I just purchased a ipv2 50 from a vender a couple days ago using paypal. I went to revisit their site and they are all but shut down until they find a new merchant because pay pal dropped them. I expressed that I feel their anti vaping policies are wrong and it's not like I was buying nicotine or any other Hazzard material. Now ecf shut down my thread because they said it jeopardizes pay pal and their customers points of view. Now here is the freedom I have on this wonderful forum to say yeah, that's the fucking point!! To let people see what douche bags paypal has become!!! Of course I'd never say that their on ecf but why are they protecting pay pal when pay pal is Anti vape?? Any thoughts on this??

Some suppliers still use PP, but as a e-cig user myself, I try not to post on any forum that particular payment method because I like using it myself but because of their strict no E-cig policy that is the reason I don't mention them or talk about their policy's, mainly because they can and have frozen supplier accounts no matter who or what orders are active. So its an unspoken customer appreciation by both sides, What I think should have happened in your case is that the staff should have pm'd you to remove the reference explaining this to you and given you a chance to delete the talk about PP. just my opinion.

Thanks for the honesty. I didn't mean any harm .I was simply wondering why they are dropping vape suppliers? And why against vaping equipment??

It's amazing what a simple courtesy can do. It's not like it would have been a difficult thing to do. In fact, it's the adult thing to do.
I think your explanation makes perfect sense Whiskey.
I think some respect from ECF staff would have saved realsis some frustration.
I appreciate the VU more and more every day. A place where things can be discussed and sense can be made rather than "Thread Closed"

Well, ECF uses paypal to receive donations, so that probably explains why they don't want to bring any attention to that. I think shutting down posts only brings more attention to a particular topic, perhaps more negative too IMHO.

Bad thing about that though is our suppliers, they would investigate alot more of the site IMO and ruin it for tons of folks

I agree with Ace. PP should be made aware that a place called e-cigarette-forum is using their service. As if PP is not aware already with cigarette right in their name. Double standard from PP?

There's a good chance all they know is that they are taking payments for forum memberships, what kind of forum was no doubt held back from them or rerouted thru red tape to disguise what entity they really are

The ECF forum isn't selling ecigs they are getting donations for a forum service. So I don't think PP would take action against the ECF for donations to their forum.

I still don't understand PP/Ebay stand against ecigs. They need to be educated.
As far as PP goes, they are suppose to be a middle man in a money transfer. They shouldn't make moral judgements on what their clients purchase. They should only be looking for fraud.

But a quick look at the Vender section and they will see all the suppliers and check them against their lists of users..not that there are many that still use that method of payment, its unfortunate.

Another reason why I no longer post or care about ECF... If we had a better classified section - I would purposely get banned and tell Classwife to get bent

IMHO, eBay has just gotten freaking greedy over the years. Fees for this, fees for that and more fees to come once they "invent" them. Hell, if I had an IT background (but I barely know how to do this) I would come up with a way to kick them to the curb. And I would love for Google to take over PP or even come up with their own version. Lord knows they have the resources!

I know you know, but I'm at least giving it a shot for vaping gear, anyway.

Paypal cannot drop EFC just because its a electronic cigarette[[1st Admendment] They be open for a damage lawsuit. Speech is not a product like goods and merchandise are.

I think that it is perfectly valid and acceptable to voice your frustration over PayPal, and any other middleman's policies towards vaping products. E-liquids are not illegal, or regulated, and thus these products are not classified as "drug paraphenalia" by US Federal Law.

It would actually be interesting to know if it is illegal for them to prevent the sale of these items...

PayPal also has problems paying liquor stores for purchases made on PayPal debit cards.

A private company is probably OK legally having a policy of choosing not to do transactions for a product. With something as controverial as Electronic Cigarettes that may have safety issue, Mech Mods- wrong batteries and is meant to be used with a Chemical like nicotine I think they would win any lawsuit for not selling Electronic cigarettes is Short order. Not to mention you have be be at least 18 in about 30 states to purchase these. Does Paypal confirm your age?.

From PayPal User Agreement:

2.1 Eligibility. To be eligible to use the PayPal Services, you must be at least 18 years old and a resident of the United States or one of the countries listed on the PayPal WorldWide page. This Agreement applies only to Users who are residents of the United States. If you are a resident of another country, you may access the agreement that applies to you from our website in your country.

There are 3 possible areas of the Acceptable Use Policy:

Prohibited Activities

You may not use the PayPal service for activities that:

1. violate any law, statute, ordinance or regulation.

2. relate to transactions involving (a) narcotics, steroids, certain controlled substances or other products that present a risk to consumer safety, (b) drug paraphernalia, (c) items that encourage, promote, facilitate or instruct others to engage in illegal activity,

and

5. violate applicable laws or industry regulations regarding the sale of (a) tobacco products, or (b) prescription drugs and devices.

Currently, vaping products other than the possibility of e-liquid do not meet any of the above restrictions any more than a tobacco pipe, lighter, hookah pipe, soda can (which can be used for a bong), etc. Banning devices that could be related to drug paraphemalia simply because some people use them that way would broadly affect a tremendous amount of innocuos products designed for other uses.

She really should google herself:)
Waaait?!? You mean to say that Classwife is every tired old anime / gal game character archetype ever? I'm starting to see some very odd images in my head, most involving use of the words "big brother".

So Some Electronic cigarettes can be used to vaporize pot. I am telling ya Paypal has good lawyers and good legal advice. But be my guest and take them to court .

Can I buy a metal tube, roughly three inches in length, a package of aluminum foil, or a plastic bottle using PP? If the answer is yes, ALL of these can be used to smoke pot.
Put all of them together in a certain way, add water, and it becomes waaay more effective.

PayPal is trying to become a bank in their own right. In order to succeed, they need Federal Government backing. Supporting a volatile topic like e-cigarettes jeapardises this process greatly.
