VaporBeast is having a 15% off sale, code "LABORDAY". That brings the cost down to $84.96, with shipping included.

Anyone know of a better deal this weekend?

Here's the Vaping 360 link - http://vaping360.com/labor-day-vaping-sales/ - but looks like the Volcano deal won't be active until Monday.

View attachment 60611
I can say for a fact it's not active yet, I just tried it. I do believe I found my Labor Day purchase :D

PS Yesterday in the VT133 thread I mentioned with all the sales nothing was really tickling my fancy (I already bought another VT133 last Sunday when VapeNW announced their sale - that doesn't count :teehee::giggle:)

Cheers,
Steve

@Wingsfan310 - me too, I think I will be getting this Lavabox M.

BTW - great game by our Wolverines today. I know it was only Hawaii, but our "D" looks solid except they'll need to work on defending the spread a bit. Very impressed by "Captain America" though (Chris Evans), especially given he was 3rd string.

GO BLUE!

And now my dilemma...

Do I get the Red Lavabox M with the Black Grip or the Black Lavabox with the Red Grip?

Decisions, decisions...

My opinion is the Blood Red is stunning. I have both in the DNA200 version and only the Blood Red in the DNA75 version. The Blood Red paint is textured, it's really quite nice.

From Volcano:
We have furnished the LAVABOX M DNA 75 Blood Red box mod with the same superb deep crimson hue that made our special edition DNA 200 an unforgettable device. Our Blood Red LAVABOX devices are specially treated with a superior-grade oxidized red pigment to create its one-of-a-kind dark red finish. This treatment makes the device that much more eye-catching and its special coating also adds an anti-slip textured finish. - See more at: http://www.volcanoecigs.com/lavabox-m-dna-75-blood-red-box-mod.html#sthash.jNpJDcsj.dpuf

PS Of course this is just my personal opinion. To me the Blood Red is something special.

Coupon code is active, was waiting and trying for a while for it to be active to make sure to get the blood red lavabox m, as sure they will sell out pretty quick at that price.

Now watch they have tons in stock and I stayed up this late for no reason :giggle:

Congrats!
I was going to get a 2nd one, but other things came up to push me in another direction. And yet I'm still awake too...

I bit, seems like a great device. A little worried about battery life, but it's not too tough to carry a couple of spares.

I was expecting having to stay up till 3 am pacific to take advantage of the promo at Volcano. I wasn't sure I was going to make it.

It might have been better if I hadn't. I have a blood red 75 and bone white 200 on the way. Yay!

Time to hunt down the 1300 extension.

I wanted to pick up the 1300 mah extension too, sad to see they were out of stock. But I did get the BR Lavabox M:inlove:

@Wingsfan0310 your not wrong about that blood red lavabox, mine turned up today and that red is awesome, really glad I decided to get this one too :)

Also got the blue battery cover for my black one, looking good :)

I'm glad you like it. During the Labor Day Sale I couldn't resist buying a second Blood Red Lavabox 75. With the 25% off sale combined with points I had, it came out to around $70 shipped (seemed like a deal too good to pass up on). Maybe I'll be able to summon the courage to take the first one outside since I now have a backup (that's a big maybe :giggle:).

Cheers,
Steve

Finally arrived today, and after futzing with it a bit I'm really enjoying the vape! Only issue is why couldn't they squeeze dual 18650s in? It's not much smaller than my Fuchai 213. Is the Evolv chip that much bigger?

Oh, and yes, the Chaos RDA is a little big for the mod, but I just can't get a better vape on the 22mm atties I have.

Finally got my first DNA device! Honestly speaking though, I barely notice any difference compared to my other devices.

At first, the device felt pretty cheap compared to my Eleaf Pico since it's much lighter. But I'm warming up to it.

I did notice the rgb led behind the power button behing the fire button, I kinda wish the engraved power symbol was clear so the light could shine through somehow.

A few questions though, is it possible to add a custom logo and/or clock like those found on some mods such as the VTC Mini and iStick Pico? And is there a way to keep the Board Temp and Room Temp option in Celsius rather than Fahrenheit?

The Lavabox uses 6061-billet aluminum alloy as opposed to cheaper/heavier Zinc Alloy that a lot of mods use. 6061 Billet Aluminum is lighter and at least as strong. I prefer Aluminum mods because they are lighter while not sacrificing strength.

You can add/make custom logos and screens. They have to be 128 x 32.
You can't add a clock.
I'm not sure about changing the board or room temp to Celsius. I'm in the USA and have everything in F. I know you can use C for TC,

Cheers,
Steve

Thanks, wings!

I did manage to get everything set up via escribe. I really wish they'd include an update with C/F option and a clock. Having those two would be great.

Speaking of updates, the firmware is automatically updated when connected to escribe, right?

Usually what happens when there is a firmware update available is, it's mentioned on the upper left corner of Escribe (in the General Tab). It will say something like "Firmware/Service Pack update available, do you want to install it" (in Blue writing - at least that's the way I remember it)

I'm using the latest version of Escribe V1.2 SP4. The SP4 was a recent update that seems to only effect the DNA250 chip. If you don't have that, V1.2 SP3 should be fine.

To find out what version of Escribe you are using, click on Help at the top of Escribe, then about Escribe.

To find out what firmware is installed on your mod. Hook it up to Escribe and click on the Device Monitor at the top of Escribe. It will be in the bottom right hand corner of the DM..

Cheers,
Steve

Just in case you need it. Here's the link to the latest version of Escribe:
[RECOMMENDED]
*** 2016-08-08 EScribe 1.2 SP3 ***
https://downloads.evolvapor.com/SetupES250.exe (57MB standardalone installer)

Here's the link to the new service pack. Like I said, if your not using any DNA250's then you probably don't need to add it. You still have to have the above version of Escribe either way. This is just an addition:
[EARLY]
*** EScribe 1.2 SP4 ***
https://downloads.evolvapor.com/SetupES_1_2_SP4_ServicePack.exe (11MB service pack)
This service pack is mostly bug fixes.

On the EScribe side:
- This resolves some scaling issues in Large Fonts mode / on high-DPI screens.
- Get Information shows which tests were actually performed by the manufacturer in Production Utility.
- Get Information's Manufacturer link did not work in 1.2 SP3. This has been fixed.
- When you had more than one DNA device connected, the auto-connect did not automatically select the new one in the Connect dialog. This has been fixed.
- Minor compatibility and bug fixes.

On the device side:
- Fixed a bug on the DNA 250 that could cause its charging to be slow with certain USB cables (in my tests, the problem cables were flat).

Other:
- For DNA 250, Production Utility now requires charge tests to be at least 900 mA. This may require a powered USB hub.

Also in my signature is a link to my Ecig file for the Lavabox DNA75 and links to the Escribe/Firmware update thread.

Cheers,
Steve

Thank you so much, Steve!

Your posts helped out a lot! Especially for a DNA newb like me I'll check my escribe version later when I get home and I guess it wont hurt to download the new service pack anyway.

Thanks again for the info and the links provided!

Agree on the material. It is because the mod is so light that I like it so much. And you can tell the quality is there, IMO. Only thing I'm not liking is battery life, but hard to complain given its size. While my Therion can last twice as long, it weighs quite a bit more. Right now, the Lavabox M is my goto when I'm out and Bout.

I've actually warmed up to it already. It really is an awesome looking mod and I've gotten used to the weight. It just felt cheap the first time I held it since I've been used to mods made by zinc alloy which were quite a bit heavier.

Quality-wise though, I expected more from Volcano since the are an American company. I returned my Lavabox due to imperfections that really bothered me such as a crooked 510 and other cosmetic defects. "Paint" chips, warped front screen acrylic, etc.

After picking between 3 other samples, I finally settled for one with a level 510 (no gap between mod and atty) with a battery door that fits too snugly (hard to open by pulling from the top part of the door since it would catch on the mod).

Minor thing, I know but I've solved it by filing the top corners for the battery door (both the rubberized and the carbon fibre door) to make it easier to change batteries.

Granted these things are made in China but I really expected more from the q.i. dept. to justify the price of the mod. They are charging a premium for it after all. There are quite a few other dna 75 mods that are much cheaper. Just not as beautiful

EDIT:
23bacd21c6693acb96c7bd0f40547647.jpg

These are the corners I've had to file off for the doors to close witgout catching on the top part of the mod.

Congrats llf!

Im sure you'll enjoy it as I am now! I did kinda regret getting the cf grip though, I think the blood red is gorgeous the way it is with the stock grip. Plus, it's more comfy to hold with the stock grip.

i'm enjoying it right now:) i never thought it would be very light weight lol

Question for you all, my lavabox m dna 75, died last night. It seems like there is no power at all. Put a fresh battery in, push the fire button and nothing happens. Has any one had or have these issues? Any help would greatly be appreciated.

If you hook it up to Escribe does it power up?

No, it has no power what's so ever. It flashes on and off right away

Depending on how long you have had it, I would contact the seller for a replacement. If that doesn't work, open a ticket with Evolv.

@Wingsfan0310 hi steve! Ive a question about the case analyzer in escribe. Do we need to run this for the lavabox m?
I ran the case analyzer for it. I run it for all my DNA mods (250/200/75). It's easy enough to run. It just takes time (around 3-4 hours). The only thing you need to do is have the battery charge between 1/4-1/2 charged. When it's finished hit accept and it will fill in the numbers. Once that is done it's important that you click on Upload Settings to Device . That will save the settings to your mod. If you forget, it's a bummer.

If you load my ecig file in my signature, it has my numbers. Here's my numbers if your interested:

Thanks for the quick reply steve!

Im wondering what changes these will make to my device once applied? And if i can revert it back to its default if i save my escribe settings before applying the changes?

Here's the settings that come on the Lavabox M. These are just the chips default. Volcano didn't configure the mod. If my mod has been configured I go with those settings. Some mods are configured by the manufacturer, some aren't. If you see these numbers, it hasn't been.

PS I always save my ecig file when I first get a mod and label it as example: Lavabox DNA75 Factory Settings

Here's the DNA chips default numbers that come on the chip, which in this case is what comes on the mod.

Okay, so i guess i wont be vaping my lavabox for a couple of hours...

I see, thats what i did as well, save my default settings. Thanks so much, steve! Incredibly helpful!

@Wingsfan0310 - I didn't realize this with the LavaBox. So what are you recommended settings for these for the device?

(edit - ok, was reading updates out of order. Looks like you are recommending to run the Case Analyzer to have proper settings defined. I will try that)

You're welcome my friend. If you have any questions feel free to ask. You can always shoot me a PM if needed.

I know you probably know this already, but just in case here goes. I posted my finished Ecig file (the link is in my signature). It has my numbers for the case thermals, mods resistance, 7TC profiles, 1 for power mode, custom screens, custom theme, etc. You can try it and always go back to the factory settings if you don't like it. Most people seem to like it from what I've been told. I'm not saying you shouldn't do it for yourself because you will learn about the chip and Escribe as you do it. I just posted it to help people out if they wanted to go that route. Here's the link:
Link to my Triade250, VT133, Lavabox M DNA 75, and VF133 Configuration Files

Edit: If you load my Ecig file the mod will be completely configured and ready to roll

That's fine. I run mine when the mod is at room temperature. I don't run it when I've been using the mod (when it's hot). I don't think it matters whether or not you have an atomizer attached. Although if you think about it, when your using the mod, you will have an atty attached.

Steves settings work like a charm. Was the difference between night and day compared to the factory settings.
