Weird taste from RDA

Hey guys,
I'm using a troll v2 rda. I'm getting this weird taste kinda like metal, no matter how many times I build new coils (dual coils as that's the only option for this rda), i wick fine after watching videos and wicking it every which way (Japanese cotton). I've cleaned the RDA with dish soap inside and out and no matter what I get this annoying taste, I'm getting super frustrated and about to just trash it, can someone help out?

Welcome to VU....!

Is the atty a clone or authentic Troll?

As long as that atty has been around, this is the first time I've heard about a metallic taste. Has to be the wire or machine oil possibly under the insulator.....Have you completely stripped it down to clean it?....remove the positive pin and insulator?

No I don't think I removed the post, to be honest I didn't even know I could, to note also, new to rdas as I used a crown tank previously

I'm looking at this and have no idea how to remove it

Ah okay I see, I'll probably try it in the morning, but I just scrubbed it down with rubbing alcohol and warm water, still same thing, even made new coils and wick, nothing, so maybe that's it?
That is the only thing left to clean...if that doesn't work I'd shit-can the atty and-or wire....it's one of the two providing the nasty taste. Unless your wick is contaminated with something.

You sure it's not the juice?....have you tried the juice in a different atty?

I was just thinking that as well, during all your testing of the mod, have you been using the same juice to see if there is a taste? Hopefully pulling the pin and deep cleaning the RDA will fix the issue. If not, the next in line must be the juice. I would think at least.

That's what I thought also, but it's not the juice, I've tried about 3 different flavours with the same weird taste

Also the pin at the bottom won't come out, i twisted it as much as I could while trying not to strip it

I'd say put it down for a while, vape something else then come back to it. Could have been some machine oil you originally tasted and despite washing it out you brain is making an association with that taste and the troll.

Gotcha, I appreciate it, I'll go back to my crown tank for a day or two I suppose

Since crown uses ss coils
Ask the peeps at the shop if they have316 ss!!

I honestly never would of thought kanthal was the problem, tomorrow after work I'll go pick up some ss wire and see if that fixes it

I had a great warranty experience with the V2 vapor- I had a 3-1 V2 Pro Vaporizer and the mouthpiece on the dry herb tank broke, I called V2, spoke to a rep who was incredibly cool. I send my pen back (they allowed me to keep the other two tanks) and then three weeks later (slight glitch in the shipping but was addressed immediately once I called again) a brand new 3 in 1 Kit. Great Service.

I'm not familiar with the atty, but have had this taste before. My solve was a plastic drip tip. If your atty doesn't have one, that is most likely the source.

Thank you all for the help, I visited my shop after work, just built new coils, no hot spots after multiple attempts at making coils, wicked it properly, got some new juice pretty steeped in the mail today, put on the drip tip that came with it, and tada, flavor! Guy at the shop said they don't have ss wire but had some other stuff in Stock that he uses all the time for his builds, with a recommended wrap of 11. I'll even post a pic to see if you guys can notice anything or not

are you wearing rubber gloves when doing your builds? i find that the oils from my hands can get into the cotton and cause a terrible taste so i wear gloves from now on

Once they get some in Stock I'll try a build with that stuff for sure!

I mainly have my coils made by @raymo2u, I believe he primarily works with SS and his coils are exceptional. That's where I go for the fancy stuff I like to vape and couldn't make if your life depended on it. I also wrap my own simple coils and the buy my spools from https://www.advancedvapesupply.com/

Their prices are great and so is the quality of their wire. They also carry some of Ray's pre-coils and their own as well.

Nice job with the coils...like ej noted, I forgot all about the shitty taste from kanthal, been using other wire so long. Good reminder to toss the kanthol rolls away.

Gerrr those same coils, now giving hot spot on one side, I unwicked made sure they lit up evenly again, checked for a short, double checked to see if anything was touching, reworked about 2 times, with less and more cotton, same hot spot

Make sure screws are tight
Squeeze, press, scrape the coils
Start low wattage when firing.. don't do it too much, you don't wanna melt ur coils..especially nichrome... kup

Take ur meds NARCIS
