Hi, i just discovered the forum today. I had a hard time looking for a community with a lot of active people inside.
Basically just like the thread's name, i want some comparison which is best or bad for my first time starting to vape by buying starter kit (I will obviously avoid mech at all cost after reading more than a thread about how vaping experience can turn to a nightmare if a newbie try a mech)

So yeah i got my eyes on Tesla Invader 3, Black dagger, and the most simplest Evic vtc mini
i will buy either one of those 3 in Thursday or Friday, so yeah a help will be highly appreciated :bunny:

Welcome to VU!

The VTC Mini is definitely a good starter mod. Another nice one is the Eleaf Pico. I have both of them, and they are in daily use.

what kind of vape are you looking for and whats your price range? Do you want DTL or MTL vaping (MTL is tight draw to help simulate/quit smoking. DTL is more airflow and more clouds)

First off, welcome.
2nd when you get your new kit, make sure you get Sony, LG or Samsung high drain batteries. Those are the brands we trust and recommend. Now granted, a kit like you are looking at might come with rebranded batteries, which should be ok, but it is better to just get used to buying the good batteries from the start. The main reason is even regulated mods are not 100% perfect. Sometimes the protection circuits fail, which can cause a hard short. Cheap batteries blow up, top end batteries vent out. Oh they will get far to hot to handle, but you will have lots of time to react. (like if your mod is in your pocket, you will feel it heating up long before you get burned)

There are 2 main reasons we recommend against using rebranded batteries.
1st.. they are factory 2nds that failed quality control, usually sold in bulk by Sony, Samsung, LG or Panasonic. Then wrapped with a new brand name, such as nitecore.
2nd rebranded batteries are very often mis labeled. For example.. a battery with a "pulse" rating is lying to you from the start. There is no such thing as a "pulse" rating because a "Pulse" is not a scientifically defined term. A battery will fire at whatever amperage you tell it to according to the coil resistance. How long you can fire it at minimal risk is dependent on a number of factors that I won't go into. Just leave it at don't buy batteries with a pulse rating. This doesn't really apply to regulated mods, but it does apply to the integrity of the battery company. If they misrepresent the amp rating, how can you trust their other data on the battery? You can't.

And you are 100% right about avoiding Mechanical Mods. I wouldn't even touch one until I had been vaping and studying coils and batteries and ohms law and battery specs, etc etc etc for 6 months, and even THEN I consulted with my local vendor, who is the shop authority on mechanical mods. I own both a mechanical and a regulated, and prefer the regulated for 95% of my vaping.

I don't know about getting the price range in dollars, but i think it's about 60-70$
I think MTL, i like to taste the flavors first (I am not the kind of cloud chaser, i am the kind of people who enjoy the flavor)

Yeah they are selling those Samsung and LG batteries in here, that comes with a cheap price included with the nitecore as the external charging.
I might won't getting my hands on those mechanical mods as long as i vape

And yeah thanks for the advice and suggestion, thanks for your time :D .

Try a nautilus mini tank and a Pico. Good cheap MTL set up. Should cost less then 50 bucks total

I've just bought the Evic mini, enjoying it
but i got a question. Why does every time i use it, it taste like a dry hit? (It taste funny) but there are like 1/3 liquid filling the tank...
Am i doing something wrong or maybe the liquid taste like that? (I bought a chocolate flavor)
And yeah is it normal to feel the heat raised every time i suck it?
I am still using the tank that comes as a package with the mod, looking to changing it to Nautillus but got hard time searching it here

What tank does that use?
What coil- it will tell you on the coil or on the box..
Did you prime the coil? Put eliquid a few drops down around the screen of the inside of the coil and a few drops on each outside hole and put the coil back in, fill your tank and let is sit for at least 15 mins( the longer the better) keep watts low and go up slowly to break in the coil.
If are using the Ni coil you must be in TC for Ni mode- I do not use Ni coils so I don't know what temp you should be at, I only use Kanthal coils. There are many You Tube videos on your device, might be helpful to you to watch them.
If you bought this from a shop- go back and ask them, should not taste like a dry hit or burnt.
Not sure on your brand of eliquid, could be that also- chocolate is not a liquid I like. Too sweet and the sugar will react with the coil, sometimes tasting burnt.

I used the tank that comes with the mod, i think the names goes like this "eGo atomizer"
The coil i am currently using is the Ni coil, just tried to prime it and didn't touch it till now.
There are a lot of mode for this mod, and i tried from the power mod (without priming the coil before which is likely to be the issue to kept getting the dry hit)
now i tried the TC Ni mode keep it under 200 (somehow i kept getting the protection things pop up when it is over 250 degrees)
and i already tried the bypass mode too, somehow it fits better than the power mode...

Is this the tank?
http://www.myvaporstore.com/Joye-eGo-ONE-Tank-XL-Black-p/joye-eotbk.htm
If this is the tank you must vape the Ni(Nickel coil) in temp mode only- never in Power mode! You should be able to go over 200 degrees, try taking the coil out and reinstalling, too low in the degrees will not vaporize the juice properly. I myself do not use Ni coils, I do not like them, I think they taste harsh!
I would buy a 5 pack of the CL coil -Kanthal Coils either the .5Ω or the 1.0Ω I would suggest the 1.0Ω as less harsh and hot for a newbie, these work great in lower watts. These coils are for Power(wattage) mode only!
http://www.myvaporstore.com/Joye-eGo-ONE-CL-Atomizer-Head-Pack-of-5-p/joye-eoah.htm
You need spare coils anyways as they will need to be replaced every few weeks- or buy a pack of each to see which you like, you always need backups and should keep a few 5packs of coils on hand.
Watch You tube videos- they help easier to see than to explain in a forum.
You actually have a very nice starter set! You just need to find the Joyetech CL Kanthal coils and if you bought this at a Vape Shop they probably have the coils there too, but much cheaper to buy on line!
It is Very Important to Prime the coil before using- skipping this step will result in burning and ruining the coil, making it useless! I explained above how to prime- I replace coils at night so they have a chance to soak, before using.

You also (when using MTL tanks) have to watch your PG/VG ratio. Most will not run high VG juices really well. You will get dry hits.

He said he was using a chocolate eliquid, but did not say what the pg/vg was, which you are right if higher than 65vg will not wick the coil right and taste burnt too along with too high of nic! Chocolate is not a flavor I like either when vaping. Maybe the OP needs to go to a Vape Shop and try some eliquids, that helped me when I first started vaping. The OP is using a Ni coil which to me can taste harsh, I don't use Ni either, I tried it and did not like it, I think that Kanthal would be a better choice in 1.0Ω.

Welcome to VU, and vaping, zlowly! I don't have any specific advice on hardware, everything's changed so much since I first started, but just try to hang in there, be patient; sometimes it can take a while to find just the right hardware for a vape you really enjoy, and finding the right flavor can take even longer -- just don't give up! It's worth every minute of frustration that may arise.

Welcome!

Oops sorry about not writing the pg:vg ratio, i am using 60:40 on choco liquid right now.
Yeah i will try to change this Ni coil to Kanthal when it's already burnt up, for now I already enjoy things by trying to hit the sweet spot on TC mode :bliss:
Yeah the more trial and error i get through, the more rewarding the result will be ;)
And maybe if someone on the same device as i am using have the same problem, they really should prime the coil first and start from the TC mode to break the coil. (It works fine by me for now)
Once again thanks for all the advice and the welcome :bunny:

Great zlowly- glad it is working OK now. I still think that you will like the Kanthal coils and the 1.0Ω doesn't taste as hot, but I also like the .5Ω too. I don't have your device, but I have the Joyetech eGrip OLED and that uses the same coils and I liked the Kanthal coils much better, plus always make sure to prime your coils well and ramp up the watts slowly, it does help. Like Andria D posted- there will be trial and error, and you will find your favorites if you just keep with it!

Thank You Andria- A Happy Belated Vaper Anniversary to you too! Over 2 years for you! Wow fantastic! I am so glad that I took a chance on vaping to finally help slay my smoking dragon! The only thing that worked- that and some will power, great gear and eliquids and great forums like these and people like you!
I am so sorry about your Mom, I am sorry for your loss! I just had to help my Dad put my Mom in a nursing home and it has been tough, it is so hard watching my parents get old and not be able to take care of themselves .

Yeah the only reason it took as long as it did (a month) for me to switch over to vaping was my extreme skepticism. :D But after a month of gradually decreasing cigarettes and increasing vaping, I was like... "if I can get by with just one cigarette a day (which I did for 3 days!), I can probably get by without it, too." And I was right! :bliss: Truly a miracle. :D

I keep wondering how long it's going to take before the pain of losing my mom becomes more bearable. She and I never even got along very well, but still... my only mom, her only kid. :(

I lost both my step Mom and Dad in May this year, only 6 days apart..
The pain at times is almost unbearable especially at Thanksgiving and upcoming Christmas..I miss them terribly and cry out to God for mercy at times.. They say time will heal the hurt but how much time that takes I haven't a clue...sorry to hear about your Mom Andria..

Oh I started my vaping journey a few weeks before I actually quit cigarettes, I too weaned myself down, I was a menthol smoker so anytime I felt the urge I smoked a regular- yuck, and set my Stop date for Dec,1st and stuck to it! It was hard, but not as hard as cold turkey, I missed the morning cigarettes for about 6 months- but I just vaped more and powered thru it!
I haven't had a parent pass yet, but lost my 22 year old son in 2005 in a car accident and a year later I lost my only sibling, my sister to lung cancer(she never smoked) she was only 47. You never get over the pain, but it does become bearable, I have 5 grands now and have to focus on the positive and remember my son and sister with love and memories otherwise I would be so grief stricken,( even though I have my moments) and I know that they wouldn't want that for me.
It has only been a few short months since your loss, and in time you will remember your Mom with a smile and remember the good and the bad times and how lucky you were to have her as your Mom( even though you didn't always get along)!

Dear smacksy- I am so sorry for the loss of your Stepmom and Dad- so close together- and again while the pain never goes away it does become bearable. You have only suffered your loss so recently and yes holidays, birthdays, the date they died are all very hard raw days, babies that my son or sister never got to see, family get togethers- I know because I go through it. I focus on the positive and am lucky that I had them in my life, and that they are loved and missed so much.It is really hard not to pick up the phone to call them, but I speak to them in my heart.
Your parents passing is still new and raw- and my heart goes out to you. I understand!

Well, xmas has been cancelled for us this year. My mom was the big decorator and celebrator and gift-giver, and without her, neither my stepfather nor my aunt nor my husband and myself want to do much of anything. My husband and I will gift each other, a new phone for me, a bench grinder for him, but that's it; no decorating, no get-togethers, none of that shit. We sent out some xmas cards, to those 2 and some of my husband's family, and that will have to do. Maybe by xmas 2017, we'll feel a bit more festive.

Try a nautilus mini tank and a Pico. Good cheap MTL set up. Should cost less then 50 bucks total

Use vapecrawler.com to price check
Why would you recommend this tank and not buying the whole Pico kit that comes with its own tank? Is it better?
