So after finally figuring out the garbage taste I was getting was because my coil was dead and has been for ages, but failed to realize this and thought it was my liquid, so I bought 5 new coils from Amazon, and tastes good!!

Tonight when I am home, the taste is a bit iffy, still a bit of nice taste but bit crap at the same time, like its partly burnt out, they are the 40-80w with a recommended 55-65w range and I was vaping on 60 from the get-go and seems I have burnt it out.

Its on the Smok Alien and came with it in a kit, and the air hole is half open/closed and I dunno what to do any help is appreciated lads! Just wondering what I did wrong before I go ahead and change the coil again haha

They over-rate the wattage of the coils, drop the wattage about 20 and it should be good to go.

And, less airflow, the faster the coil can fail.

So is it best to have it 3/4 open or fully open? Gonna drop a new coil in and try it on between 35-45 and see if thats any better

I hope I get a coil that lasts me 3 weeks haha
Coming up on 4 weeks on a T8 coil @ 60w using tmaxx vanilla mint candy. Granted, I usually only vape one tank full a day through it, but I'm still impressed.

So yeah, you should open the airflow, and lower the wattage as much as possible without sacrificing flavor.

Maybe it just doesn't like your juice. Tmaxx orange cream bar makes those same T8 coils do weird things after only a couple of tank fulls. Vapes great with Q2s and X4s. Vape-gremlins, lol.

Fully open is probably best for your coils. Personally I wouldn't go to 20 watts, that's a bit low to get good flavor. I usually peg my Baby Beast at the lowest "Best" wattage or maybe 5 watts over, but no more. Anything above that gets too hot and tastes a little burnt to me.

I only use the quad and octople coils with my Baby Beast. I haven't tried the sextuple yet, but I didn't care for the dual at all, which I didn't expect because the Crowns and D1 dual vertical coils are my favorites and the Q2 is pretty much the same animal. I got plenty of vapor from it, but the flavor was almost non-existent.

One thing I would do is prime your coils well and I poke a pinhole in all my wicking hole cotton now (a trick that's a necessity with the Crown 1s, but seems to help wicking no matter what brand/model you're using). To prime them, I put juice in each wicking port until it absorbs, repeat, then move on to the next one. I do this twice for a total of 4 times per hole. With the Baby Beast, I also put a fair amount of juice on the top cotton so that the coil is pretty well saturated before I ever put it into the tank.

Once it's installed, let it sit for 10 minutes to get the coil completely saturated, then put it on your Alien and take small pulls (4-6 quick puffs while depressing the firing button for 1-3 seconds) at low wattage. If I plan to use the coil at 30-50 watts, I start at 20. 50-70: 25 watts. 70+: 30 watts. Do this for a minute or two, giving the coil 15-20 seconds to cool between firing, then up the wattage by 5. Repeat until you hit your desired power. This practice considerably increases the lifespan of Crown coils and I've found it to be effective with other brands, too.

Hope this helps. Also, don't be afraid to replace your coil when it gets flunked up and the flavor stays to wane. Sweet boxes shipped up this process. Good luck!

When I was using the baby with the prebuilt coils I had one juice that just massacred the coils like nobody's business. After switching to the rba on the big baby I didn't have any more problems. Nor any on drippers. It might just be the coils hate certain juices.

I have the 8-coil V8-T8 and I'm approaching 1200 puffs with 65/35 juice and its still white as rice with no burnt taste. The V8-T8 I had before this one got up to over 2000 puffs on 50/50 before it started turning black.

So I’m pretty new to vaping and I need some help, I have the smok h-priv and I recently bought a baby beast tank off someone. They sent me the tank with a burnt coil inside and a new one to put in but when I put the new coil in it says check atomizer but if the burnt one is in it works

Did you get a prompt like, "New Coil? Y/N?"

On my Alien with the Baby Beast running the X4 coils I vape at 25-27.5W and A/F wide open. Have gotten 10K puffs on them but usually around 5K is the average. Last one is at 1,500 puffs and starting to fade because I was vaping really sweet e-Liquids with Marshmallow. Since my supplier has been out of the X4 I could not wait and have a T8 coil waiting to be installed because I ordered a 5 pack tonight.
