I am semi-new to vaping. I first tried vaping in '10 but that didn’t last long. It was just cheep ecigs with replaceable draw tips. Amazing cig substitute but didn't do it for me. I really got into vaping in '14 when i discovered mods and tanks. Didn't think i would like them or that it could replace a cigarette, because well, it looked and felt nothing like it when i bought my first one. But it was amazing. I wish I could remember the names, but recall is an issue with me. About a year ago when i fell for all the health scare propaganda and quit. This was just after I discovered rda's and rta's. Im happy to say i kept all my supplies so last month when my doctor gave vaping his utmost blessing against smoking i was able to dive back in. I quickly found out the world has changed a lot. I went in blind for my first purchase. Luckily for me I found the alien 220 by smok. Unfortunately i was sold batteries that is printed "..... not for use in ecigs...." so i decided to pick up a new set and found a limitless xl by ijoy. I like the tank but I think i will be getting a new one soon so i can have some comparison. Hopefully i can find a vendor near me that carries geekvape. I use to use kangertech before i quit, and on my return i can't seem to go two clicks without seeing geekvape products and grand praise. This is also my first forum ever so i am just writing what pops into my head. I also love any and all advice i can receive on what to look for and how to be a wise shopper.

Best of luck and congrats on getting back into vaping!
I tend to stick with mechmods or DNA mods, goon or petri rdas and as for batteries- sony or Samsung.

I also have some info compiled that I found useful when I started. Being that you've been a vapor before it may not help you much but:

HUGE Help! I would say 90% of the info i knew already but the 10% i didn’t was exactly what i need. I now understand how ohms law applies to builds and batteries. I had a good understanding of each individual, but now i understand how they relate. And good information about transitioning i can give other people looking to quit, and convincing those who desperately need to that refuse.

Many of the best, safest batteries will now say "not for use" with ecigs, or not for use outside a battery pack, etc.
It's manufacturers covering their ass, because people ARE doing stupid things (loose battery in pocket) and will sue the battery company. Warning helps protect them a little - and we're not their primary market so they don't care to make a battery that IS for vaping.

Look for blogs from MOOCH and learn about batteries - or just ask here for trusted vendors (good batteries get faked - you don't want to buy a battery on eBay, or you may well get a bad battery with a wrapper saying it's something good!) and specific batteries that are recommended for your use.

That is good to know, is there a way to identify batteries when they dont have a company name or model information

There are only a few battery manufacturers: LG, Samsung and Sony are the best known. Most other brands (Efest, TrustFire, etc) are rejects from these companies and rewrapped with their brand. This is also how counterfit batteries hit the market: unscrupulous resellers just put a similar wrap on the rejected batteries and sell them as authentic. Very dangerous.

Best just to buy LG or Samsung or Sony from highly reputable dealers

I'm not sure - I think most of the recommended batteries come with some kind of labelling on the wrapper.
If there's nothing, then I THINK you can assume it's been "re-wrapped"...and no way to tell without UNwrapping to see what might be in there...

For as little as $5 each, I'd say - get some good ones...
(example - but that's a good vendor)
