Looks like it makes the A version the same as the B version.

It's funny they rolled back the firmware.
thats why 1.2.11 is newer then 1.2.2

I updated my gpriv, alien, and G320 last saturday

Can I upgrade to the .11 straight from the 1.2.1? I never upgraded to the .2 and don't want to be left in the dust. :D

Hi all,

So I was on an upgraded kick today, finally got my r200 to update, did the rx200s with the custom firmware and then finally my alien!

I did the upgrade but had one question, on the smok site it said that the config had to be 00013000, but my config was not changeable and read FFFFFFFF.

It looks like the upgrade worked as I see the new coil select screen, but I wanted to make sure I did everything correctly or if I needed to change something regarding that config file?

Turn the Alien off then on, what firmware version do you see on the screen?

Just checking in to see if everyone is happy with the latest FW. I seem to have gotten a new G2 with prehistoric FW. So if I gotta update, I might as well update the Aliens, too.
Everything appears in order here. Carry on.

I'm debating on upgrading. My Alien is brand-new and working fine, and I haven't tried any TC. Plus, I haven't had any misfires, so I think I'll wait.

Anyone have a link to the best video showing the procedure? I'm aware there's a lot of steps, and apparently I have to hold the fire button the whole time (after removing batteries), so it has to be done one-handed, then? I'd like to get it right the first time (obviously), and want to make sure everything's prepared so there aren't any hiccups.

I haven't seen a video on it. I could always make one if needed but it's pretty simple. The site gives step by step details

Just did all of my aliens and G Priv. The alien one is a little confusing. I think the big thing is that when you search for the file you downloaded and extracted is to make sure when you click on it you look at the lower right (file types) and make sure you select all files or you will forever see the message no file found lol

Well, I went ahead and did it. Pretty painless and easy, really. Vape does seem a little smoother with my Q2 coil.

Just curious...is there a reason why the Alien doesn't just assume there's a new coil every time and adjust accordingly? Does that have something to do with memory presets (if you've manually adjusted the ohms?)

My advice is never adjust the ohms

I had no trouble updating my G2 and Slice, but I could not get the Aliens to update. I finally figured out to choose "all file types", and it told me "file too large". I just had to give it up. Computes piss me off, which is why I don't own one anymore.

Oh, I never would adjust the ohms....just wondering why the New Coil setting wasn't simply automatic.

And just for my curiosity, I know my Q2 coil is .2 ohm, but the Alien reads .427. I assume that's .2 ohm per coil, then?

Weird. This picture says 0.2, but another picture says 0.4.

Yeah, I thought they were a myth. I've only seen the 0.2's in that picture. Never seen them for sale anywhere.

The resistance is printed on the coil itself, just above the wattage range. I apologize if you actually have the 0.2.

Lol, no worries. My coil says .4. I was just having trouble reading it through the juice, and googled a pic instead.

When you chose all file types did you navigate to the update bin file then select that one only ?

Yeah, but by that point I had been asked to "open file with..." one too many times. Once I chose to open with IE, and stuck me with that from then on. I tried deleting and redownloading the .zip, but it kept wanting to open the .HEX file with IE because I told it to the first time. It's been 7 or 8 years since I owned a pc, and I've pretty much forgotten how to use one.

Now if I could update with my phone or PS3, that would be nice. Lol
