0.05ohm questions

So, i just spun a 0.05ohm dual coil with 32ga stainless flat clapton and 24ga kanthal. Im using a style of mojo chi yo mech mod with a goon 528 RDA and the battery i am currently using ( IMR 18650 2600mAh 3.7v 38A). Normally (for the past 5 months) i have been vaping on a 0.08ohm build... I was wondering if vaping this would be safe or not. I did do some quick tests to see how hot my battery got when i held it for a couple seconds at a time. The battery didnt get hot, slightly warm though. Of course, the mod itself got hot up top, but that is to be expected. I'm not the most experienced in this field, but i was wondering if anyone had some insight on whether or not this was a safe thing to try. Thanks

No it's not safe, it's far from safe. If you have a battery that states 3000 mAh and 35a it's a rewrap. There are NO 18650 batteries in existence that are over 30a period.

Educate yourself with Mooch's tests and stick only with his recommended battery's. IMO unless you're well educated in battery safety, their actual ratings "and" use only legit battery's from Sony, Samsung and LG you should not be using Mech's. That and certainly not Vaping below 0.2 Ohms not knowing this.

For now, I really suggest putting the mech mod down, and using a simple regulated mod until you have done some research.

As already stated, there are no 38A 18650's, I believe the highest is the LG HB6 at 30A, and that is a 1500MAH battery. From a safety perspective, even 0.08 is not safe, and a very, very low resistance. Some cloud chasers do build this low, but they know the risks of doing so.

I'm not saying you can't use a mech mod safely and you NEED to go regulated, just if you are making builds at 0.05 and really do think your batteries are 30 or 38A with that capacity, it would be safer to do so until you have read Mooch's ratings, got a suitable battery, and ideally raised your resistance a fair bit. You will probably need to research some battery safety too.

Not meant in a bad way by any means, just for your own safety.

Everyone jumped straight to the battery...In reality even mooch doesn't have a battery tested that can handle .005 build so this is bad all the way around for your quest...DO NOT vape a .005 coil first off..its too low for any battery to handle...Build .20 or above and use the proper battery from mooch's list of tested batteries..any of his truly tested 30 amp batteries will suffice.

And there are not 38A 18650 and no 18650 with 3000 mah is over 20A.

Learn ohms law and mech safety. Read about Mooch's recommended batteries at www.tasteyourmooch.com.

Mech mod? Hybrid?
Mech mod = no protection circuits. Basically, a flashlight with a heating coil. You determine your watts by coil resistance and CDR of your battery. Example.. a 20A CDR battery can run a 0.21 ohm resistance coil at 20A. This is the resistance you can use to not heat the battery and you could actually fire until fully discharged. There is a lot of math and research involved, such at battery CDR and stress tests.

A non-hybrid mod has a 510 connector with a positive pin. Your tank contacts this pin, the pin contacts the battery.
A hybrid mod, has no positive pin so the positive pin on the atomizer contacts the battery directly. If the positive pin is to short this can cause a hard short, This is one reason mech mods should only be used by advanced vapers. For beginners to intermediate, regulated mods are the way to go.

For new visitors to this thread, the idea is not to build lower resistance, the idea is to build better coils at a safer resistance.

Just buy the right mod, build to .15 and higher and you will not only blow bigger clouds but you will blow clouds longer before changing batteries too.

Yeah for me below 0.15Ω doesn't do it for me. Atty and Mod just gets way too hot, sucks up mass amounts of battery power, etc. etc. Lowest I've ever went is 0.11Ω, wasn't enjoyable at all. But if someone wants to vape at around 0.1Ω than use a fucking parallel mod, no fucking reason and frankly just stupid to vape =< 0.1Ω with a single battery mod, none.

That is super unsafe. You can achieve higher wattage by building to 0.2/0.15.
I use aliens to 0.18 and can easily hit 100 watts with them.
As other people have said you are pulling to many amps.
You clearly don't know ohms law or you wouldn't be doing this

First off, I would like to take this opportunity to say this: Don't do it. It's not worth hurting yourself over. If you need to ask us if your build is safe, you shouldn't be using it - period.

Second, go to https://www.vaporfi.com/blog/understanding-ohms-law-for-vaping/ and read about Ohm's Law. You'll learn how to keep your limbs in one piece.

I'm not saying this to be an elitist asshole. I've seen people get hurt REAL bad from building too low. I'm not talking about slaps and tickles here. I'm talking about getting 2nd and 3rd-degree burns all over their bodies and sometimes losing fingers. It's NOT fun. Yeah, regulated devices are far safer than mechs for beginners, but it's always safest to treat EVERY device as an unregulated device - especially when you're building close to a dead short.

Quick question....if you did end up using .05 build on those garbage batteries .....are you still alive? Highest rating 18650 for Amps per Mooch is the LG HB6 at 32amps . I use those in some of my mechs and don't ever go below .14 which puts me at 30 amps

The super low resistance, is something many ADVANCED vapers do for competition builds. More surface area = bigger clouds but also requires more power. Advanced vapers can tell you exactly what battery they use, how long they fire per pull, how long the battery has been fired and rested during stress tests, how many seconds they have to handle an emergency (stuck fire button.. how long does it take the cell to heat past 100C) and emergency plans such as location of the Cat box in case you have to drop the mod. They would also never use a re-branded battery, such as imfire or efest.

For most people staying around the CDR is not only safer, but you can build some pretty sweet working coils and still stay within safe limits.
Another thing advanced vapers know in addition to the CDR, is what the max CDR that can be used without causing the battery to go thermal. Example.. Samsung 25r is rated at 20A CDR. However.. you can also fully discharge a samsung 25R under load of 29A which is below the 100C safety limit used by mooch, and below venting temp. 30A would be 101C, still below venting temp, but higher than Moochs 100C safety cap. They will easily handle a 25A draw. This does not apply to all batteries and is specific to each battery, so therefore.. you have to learn the new info every time you try a new cell.

Now consider the advanced vaper has already looked up all this info and knows how to apply it and as a rule, never hits a battery more than 3 times in competitions. New vapers usually fail to consider this, when they see Joe "IRCLOUDS" Blow on youtube. There is a lot of research behind those videos. Unfortunately, they never go into details such as.. this cell was tested at XX amps, I am vaping below that at YY amps...and from testing I know I can safely fire for up to 5 seconds.... (safely, being a relative term.. safe for an advanced user is totally different from safe for a new vaper)

Maybe you should do more research at very beginning.
 
I love that you even state you know very little, yet jump to building a coil so dangerously low that not even the most experienced cloud chasers would ever consider. Please don't be the reason even more sanctions are placed on vaping.

I'd recommend you prebuilt coils - try Demon Killer coupled with some VTC5A's.

The most experienced cloud chaser i know is a guy on the Purge Team and his everyday vape he said is 0.06 ohm, (My face dropped a little when he said that) that's way too low for being "safe" sure you can risk it but is it worth the risk? All his batteries are arc'ed too shit lol..

As long as they know what the fuck they're doing but again they're way into the danger level. Just like those who drive F1's on the circuit, they fully understand the high risks and know what the fuck they're doing ;)

This makes me grateful that the guy at the vape shop I bought my first mod from gave me solid advice, and that I did a ton of research before winding my first coil.
