3 and 4 post deck are a PITA for a beginner, IMO. Velocity-styled are way easier. I have a 22mm DOGE 3 w/4 post deck, and it took me awhile to get it right. Gotta leave yourself lots of coil-leg to work with.

All I can think is maybe the post screws loosened up when you adjusted the coil.

A velocity style deck would be nice but, i don't have the money for a brand new rda. Somebody sold me a nice condition wotofo atty3 cubed.

I feel that. I paid like 9 bucks for the DOGE. It's a clone, but from the reviews I saw, the clone was actually of higher quality. Go figure, lol. I now have a Pharaoh-clone on oreder from FT, for $13. 25mm, spring-loaded clamp, bottom airflow deck. Things can be found cheap.

I'm using the rba deck in my baby beast now. Kinda small, but it's a velocity-style bottom airflow, and works really well for me. I paid around $11 for it.

It also just occurred to me that, on the Alien, once you get a "protect" message, I think you have to unscrew the atty and hit the fire button to reset the resistance.

I keep messing with it. Single coil 24g 7 wrap. The post screws are tightened down, not touching the deck with the coil or legs on opposite post sides. Says "do not abuse protects every time.

You may have broken or cracked a leg when you were adjusting it. I would loosen the screws, readjust the coil, and retighten. Reset the resistance on the mod. If that doesn't work, I'd trash it and make a new one.

Also, the center post(positive) spins when i try to tighten the post screws.
That could very well be the problem. Take it off the mod, hold the center post with pliers, and try to tighten the screw in the 510 connector.

Dual AWG 24g Stainless steel, 6 wraps spaced, comes in at 0.130 ohms

Thoughts or advice to improving this build? I regretfully say this is one of my cleaner coils builds lately. I really want to learn parallels but I think my wire is too thick, with 8 wraps I come in at about 0.11 ohms and my Alien won't fire it. If I add more wraps it doesn't fit in the RDA (too long from lead to lead) on Goon 24mm. Right now 24g is all I have but I do plan on getting a few different sizes and possibly also fused Claptons. I'm a huge fan of SS wires though. Willing to try anything but kanthal though as they are the only 2 I've used so far.

Have you tried firing it in Temp Mode?
Well... I would... But... Ya see, the thing is... I have the alien mod and just upgraded the firmware to 1.2.11 last night and in doing so my TC mode completely shit out on me. I prefer to run my SS in TC but unless I can find a downgrade link back to 1.2.1 or they fix it soon in a new upgrade I'm without TC until I get a new mod :(

Oh yeah, I remember reading that. Damn. Glad I couldn't get mine updated now, lol. Try updating again? Maybe there was just a glitch in the matrix before.

I'm no help. I literally just made my first vapable build. Single coil, 24g 7 wrap around a 5/32 drill bit. Fires like a champ at 65watts. Flavor enormous and decent clouds.

I use the coil master jigs, but pretty much only the 4mm. Usually 5-8 wraps depending on where I want my ohms. 5 wraps comes in around 0.13-0.15 8 wraps is usually right around a 0.2 build

2017-02-10 17.38.13.jpg I finally wrapped a halfway decent pair of clapton coils on this 3 post CCI Archon. I failed a couple times but this one doesn't touch the sides, pop or snap, and tastes great. Just imperfect and ugly looking to me. I am determined to perfect doing this with this roll of clapton wire until I get a roll of simple wire and hope it will be easy street with that. Lol

It is not that hard on the 2 post deck, but I only have the 2 decks shared between my husband and I and we seem to have rejected our Baby Beast tanks since I have started us dripping.

I have some fused Clapton and single wire is MUCH easier to work with IMHO. I can't get the pics to load but it sounds like you've got it figured out. The more you wrap the better they'll start to look, it's a practice thing. Mine still look pretty bad most of the time, but they're functional and that's what's important.

Thanks! My OCD is terrible so I see it as ugly AF. While I built that this afternoon, my daughter and husband were waiting for me to go for a 4WD truck drive down our new neighborhood dirt roads. :wait:lol

My husband had that deck before with a real shitty build I did for him that popped, snapped, and was just BAD. lol So I gave him my 2 post deck with my first ever build on it and had to fix that one real quick or we both wouldn't have our own mods and drippers for the ride!
Too bad he doesn't do the building...
I need a smaller wire snipper with the angle on it and some other things if I am going to get faster at this...
Toe nail clippers should be for toe nails. lol
Drill bits don't have anything to stop against unless I rig it with a wrap of some kind.
I'm working with hardly anything here. :kickbutt:

Looks like your leads on the center pin are touching the coils?

https://www.coil-master.net/product/coil-master-diy-kit-v3 this is what I use more often than not. The coil jigs are really nice, with a bit of a learning curve for first time use. I found a YouTube video that showed how to properly use it (there are no manuals or papers in it at all, so as a first time builder it was all guess work). But that has everything I use for my building and everything works really. I sometimes use a screwdriver to wrap on if I don't feel like messing with the jigs but I have no idea what size it is ~3.5-4mm though I think

Please elaborate? One coil was getting red faster than the other initially so I really want to know. Leads?
So the part u have screwed into the pin coming out is touching the 1st wrap on the coil next to it

I really would like to snip that but can't! I just can't. lol I want to give up until I can get a better snipper. I even tried pushing it in and snipping, then backing out slightly to screw down but it kept catching in the dent the screw made and pushed it back out (if that makes any sense).

I hope this helps someone with the 3 post and no good snippers...

Any other trick to do this would be awesome!

Not the extra part. I'm talking about the start of your coil is crossing over and touching the wrapped part of the coil

I'm actually really proud of my new build. Seeing as it's only my second functioning build, 0.3 ohms at 80watts seems pretty decent

Yes, I downgraded back to 1.2.2 a few days ago and that fixed my TC problems. I'm still really disappointed by the bug in 1.2.11 with TC but, I have faith in them that it'll be corrected in the next upgrade so I'll wait for that one. Thank you for those kinks though.

I'm running 1.2.11 on my Alien -- I'll have to try TC with this coil I'm using to see if it is working or not. I don't use TC mode, so I have never check it. :D

I can't speak for the majority of them but it wasn't wanting to run right in SS mode

Can you explain not wanting to "run right" ... I've got a SS316L 24g/36g Clapton in my Ammit right now and TC seems to be working without issue.

Had just a dual coil build, spaced 24 AWG 316L set to 530F at 100 watts, wouldn't fire for even a full second before the temp control kicked in and cut power.

I just ran this SS316L 24g/36g Clapton in TC, starting it out at 200,240,310,440,470, and working up to 530F and it was shutting down properly.

24 AWG 316L set to 530F at 100 watts
What was the coil ID? How many wraps?

K, that would have been a heat flux of 285 @ 100w.
So ya, that would have heated up really quick and hitting the temps within split seconds.

The image isn't wanting to load on my end. What was the math for that, or site link? That could be extremely helpful in my next build

I've been running my clapton @ 45W (.35Ω) and 510F --- takes a little over a second to temp out.
I bumped it up to 100W and it hit temp control within .2 seconds @ 510F
