If we went out prosecuting all politicians who have ever lied to get there, we'll end up with a world without any politicians. And i think that's a good thing.

Bloody hell, this waiting game is hard.
Anybody know what this even means?
Says ship date is today, but the ETA next to it is for 28th Feb.
Does that mean it'll ship out on 28th, or reach me on 28th? because the other two items dont have an ETA next to them.
T_T

It means that you are going to wait- if you go to FT forums you will read about this item and the delays. This was a brand new pre-order and their demand exceeded their supply. CNY happened - huge sales! If you wanted it fast you should have choose somewhere else to purchase this kit! It may show up sooner than the ETA or may be pushed back to another later date.
I don't know if you are in the US, but have seen this for sale to purchase now. You could forget about it and wait- or cancel the whole order and put back on your CC and purchase somewhere else that has this in stock!
I always use FT for things I can't get here or that I am in NO hurry for, but I have received every order I have placed with them, I am in the same waiting game, I am waiting from 2/7 est to now 2/18, but I am in no hurry for them, mainly coils for my stockpile and drip tips!
Your friend could probably help you out with a cheap starter set till this comes in, which would become your backup when you get this kit!

I see, so essentially they ran out of existing stocks, and the ETA, represents the Estimated time for the next batch to be delivered to FT, implying the shipping date will be > 28th feb. Well that sucks.
Nah, im not in the US, but looks like i'll have to find an alternative vendor now, there are no vendors who have this here.
Unfortunately, FT / sites that give free worldwide shipping are my only option.
Guess it's time to go googling again.
Thanks for the explanation snappy

Either FT ran out or the manufacturer has pushed the dates back because they don't have enough to supply FT yet, FT is a supplier and gets these dates from the manufacturers. May I suggest you just get a basic starter kit of some kind, like the AIO , Pico kit or similar locally till this kit comes from FT!
You should have backups in any case! What if something happened to your only setup?- Buying cigarettes is not a backup plan!
My backups have backups- We in the US are facing strict FDA regulations that are trying to take our vaping away, or at least make it much more expensive and harder to get! I for one am prepared- going back to cigarettes is not an option for me- and I have quite the stockpile to prove it!

Ecig City in California, so you'll have in a week. Free shipping. $9 more than FT, but that's the cost of 1-2 packs of cigs. You'll smoke more than 2 packs in the month long wait from ft.

Am not in the US,
Free shipping is only valid there.
But thanks for the pointer. And yeah, at this point, an extra $10 to get it in a week, is a no brainer.

Watch this instead of doing that R&D on your own.
This fellow opens the mod up, pin-points the exact source of the leak, and suggest a way to fix it.

thanks! saves me a ton of time. I'm really surprised the tank itself isn't sealed. no reason for the top to be completely open Should only have a fill hole and the hole where the atty is. 2 small round holes with rubber gaskets IMO

My pleasure,
The gist i got from it, is that the tank is't a completely sealed baggy, it's essentially topless, and relies on the top part of the mod, to cover that. The source of the leak, is the seam where the open top tank meets the body, another source is where the atty drops down into it.

yup that's what it looks like. so could be an issue with the rubber gasket

Probably, though i don't recall seeing a rubber gasket between the tank and the body.
I'd recommend going through the whole video, because the leak is terribly dangerous in this one. It's an internal leak, and the juice can potentially seep right through to the chip, and even worse, the battery.

The fix is to add a bigger o ring as the ijoy one is quite small.
The guy at my b&m showed me the problem. At least with the 5 he fixed. They were all bought at the same time, so maybe it was a bad batch.

*grumbles curses under his breath.
Rub it in why dontcha ?
*continues stream of choice, uncouth curses.
Fasttech botched up my dreams, so re-ordered from a different place. It's only just shipped from there, so no idea when it'll reach
*inaudible cursing continues, spills blood of a virgin mouse on a pentagram and summons satan, "Get me my SMOK alien baby !!" , satan hands a purple, 8-tentacled, kawaii but still creepy looking spawn of a long forgotten voracious alien race.
*Alien baby tries to nip my hands, well not really a nip when his mouth has over a 100 razor sharp teeth and a coiled tongue that lashes out like a whip.
*I smack the alien baby on the head. "No biting Alien baby !!, NO. "
*resumes incessant refreshing of the shipping page.

LOL- How dramatic!!!!!! I am still waiting on my FT order from 1/27/17 it is just a regular order with coils and drip tips, no rush for me and I know that FT had its CNY sale and it will take a while for China to get back to business! I would never order something that I needed yesterday from any China source!
But now you could get your starter kit like a AIO, Juul , or the eLeaf Pico kit, visit a vape shop,or even gas station ecigs to help transition you while you wait and become your back up when you have your Alien! Start making a conscience effort in cutting back cigs! You will get your Alien faster if you try to forget about it and stressing over shipping!
I am not sure where you live, but for now we in the US are lucky with many great online shops and quick shipping and great sales and prices!
I only use fasttech for coils, drip tips and have ordered a couple of mods that were not for sale in the US like the Aleader Funky Box 60, SBody Legend 75w DNA and the Yosta Livepor 160- they all took a while but I did get them all!
Just remember that companies like FT,GB,3F are at the mercy of the shippers, customs, and even the weather! I have had these orders ship out quickly from them, only to sit for a week or more in Customs! You chose the way to ship, not the companies fault, they do not own the mail services!

Haahah, i know snappy, dont get snappy xD
And yes, it was overly dramatic, but only for the humor in it.

I'v pretty much resigned myself to the wait.
And my only grudge with FT was for not honoring the pre-order date. Other than that, i'm quite well aware of how messed up intl shipping can be, especially the free options.
Btw, im far far away in the mystical land of India, i'm closer to china, *tongue in cheek

LoL- I am only kidding with you! I am still waiting for my FT order to ship since 1/27! They said the drip tips would be in stock by 2/15, but now it is showing 2/27 I cancelled the drip tip! I am not waiting another week! They are only a warehouse, they are really at the mercy of the manufactures of these items and dates! Then comes shipping- again, once they hand over that order over to the shipper, they are at the mercy of how quickly your order arrives! Always try to order an IN Stock item with FT- it is much faster and not after a holiday or big sale!
Here in the US- US shops already have that Smok Kit and for a very good price- I am not sure on India, but hopefully you get your dream kit soon and will be on the road to quitting cigarettes!
Let us know when you get your kit!

Here you go. Very early impressions so far :
After the first few drags on it.. All i'd say is.. yeah.. she's a beast alright.
The recommended wattage on the pre-installed Q2 coils is 65 W . I started at 50 and nearly burnt my vape virgin throat up. Now waay down to 30-35 W and enjoying a nice luke warm vape with decent flavor.
No spit backs so far, but i do hear gurgling sounds in the tank. But nothing too disconcerting.
The mod is absolutely lovable, teeny tiny, a bit thicker than i imagined, but very handy nevertheless.
Got a battery, but no external charger, using the mod to charge the batteries for now an

Now that i actually have a mod, i wont feel silly commenting on other parts of the forum. Pointers appreciated.
Special thanks to

@SnapDragon NY For being a guiding light,

I've vaped about 60ml since your first post. I'm shooting for 300 before you get your first ecig. ;)

Yippee- doing the happy dance for you- even though your kit took a while to reach you, I am so glad that you have it to use and ask away! Yes just because the coils say you can go ultra in wattage- doesn't mean you have to ! I still vape 25-30w mainly- if it still feels too warm turn it down!
While using the mod charger is OK for now- do try and get an external battery charger- the USB on the mod can get damaged and then you could be stuck!
Make sure you take a picture and comment in the Vape Mail and Hand Check of the forums!
Congrats on becoming a Vaper!
Now you know how exciting and sometimes frustrating China shipping can be also- make sure you order your supplies well in advance!

@SnapDragon NY For being a guiding light,

Glad you finally got it, about a month earlier than I'd have expected. :D

We were all noob asses at some point, asking questions, and not really understanding the answers... :D That's why so many of us felt that it was less important what you chose, as just choosing SOMETHING and getting started -- now that you have a working vape, you'll be better able to figure out just what questions you still have, and understanding the answers better. I was reading back on the last page, and I see you have a plan to have just one mod, and "maybe a backup down the road"... but you really need at least one backup right away, because vape gear just seems to be a "shit happens" MAGNET, the way trailer parks are tornado magnets.

Although there is only one atomizer that I really love, of which I have 2, I have 14 mods for just this reason -- I never wanted ANYTHING, including some hardware failure, to cause me to need to buy or smoke anymore cigarettes. I have that many because of the 14, 12 are regulated mods -- electronic, and thus with a certain "shelf life" -- electronics do eventually fail; I wanted to be sure that I had enough to keep me vaping *as I prefer to vape* (regulated) for as long as possible. I do have 2 mechanical mods, which theoretically have a virtually infinite shelf life -- like anything mechanical and low-tech, they be pretty easily repaired, if necessary -- though I did stockpile a few Kicks to put in them, so that if I ever do need to use those, I can still have a regulated vape -- at least until all my stockpiled Kicks wear out. :D As for what a Kick is... you really don't need to know, since a) you're not using a mech mod, and b) very VERY few vape lower than 12w anymore, which is the highest setting on a Kick -- I vape at 9w or 10w or something between, but I am very much a minority.

Andria is right- you should have backups! Hell even my backups have back ups! No way should buying cigarettes ever be your backup plan!
Keep a good stock of liquids, coils, batteries, tanks and another mod or two- so many great sales-
While you have been waiting on your gear- I got 2 new mods- @ asMODus Minikin V1.5, one purple and one champagne( from this company I got a free 120ml of Loaded eliquid)- both are dual battery mods, also got the Tobeco Super Tank Mini(rainbow)- more 5 packs of coils and am waiting for 780 mls of eliquid from a big sale!

Try your setup for a week. Then come back to us with your opinions on what you like and don't like. We'll help steer you in the right direction for new gear.
Keep on Vaping. Do your best to reduce the use of cigarettes. but don't stress about it at the same time. One day someone will offer you a cigarette and you won't want it for any reason. That's when you will know you kicked the habit of stinkies. It's a glorious feeling.

Hooray! Glad you generally like it.

I am TOTALLY unsurprised that you're vaping lower than the recommended wattage on the coils. Not to one-up you, but I just got a TFV8 (The big beast, not the baby), and I am vaping lower than the "recommended wattage" for the V8-T8 coil preloaded in this monster. Supposedly "Best" at 120-180w, and I'm running 70-80 at most.

I am also not surprised you like a SMOK product. Gun to my head, if I could only choose products from one company for the rest of my life, it would probably have to be them. A little pricey on those enormous coils, but that's been my only complaint with any SMOK product I've ever had.

I've liked some Smoktech products, but not all. Actually one of my mechs is by Smoktech, a Galileo, a really pretty tube mod. Never much liked their atomizers, except their 3 ohm cartos and cartotanks, but that's really old tech now.

I have never used a Smok item, but I too am not surprised that he is starting out at the lower end of the wattage- it is his 1st device! I have been vaping for over 2 years and I still vape 25-30w, hate to tell you what I used to quit cigarettes, but they worked for me, those cigalikes and will power!
I am just glad that he finally got what he wanted and hope after this experience to order his vape gear in advance( like coils and eliquid) and maybe throw in a backup( mod and tank) especially since he is doing this to quit cigarettes! Nothing is perfect and what do you use when something happens to your only gear? No way are cigarettes my back up plan!

I used cigalikes to get down to the point of quitting; still got my old eRoll... but on my first full day as a non-smoker, after 3 wks of the CONSTANT refill/recharge every 10 mins crap, I got a "pen style", a vv3 with a Kanger T3S clearomizer, and I'm pretty sure that's one reason why the quit "stuck", it made a WORLD of difference, not just in convenience, but the quality of the vape.

I stayed at 6-8 watts for quite a while; later when I got a Kayfun and started building my own coils, I crept up to 9 and 10 watts. Now and then I've gone as high as 10.5w, but never higher. Don't see any reason to.

Hi and welcome from this new member from Texas. My wife bought me the SMOK AL85 and it is FANTASTIC! I smoked between a half to a pack of Marlboro Reds and Camel for decades (a bit more if I was drinking) and I REALLY suggest you start off with 12mg Nicotine. I was skeptical myself when it came to the 12mg amount as those cigarettes have a higher nic amount, BUT, the mod does a great job of really satisfying your craving to light up with just 12mg in the e-juice. I'm a true believer as this morning was the first REAL test for me when I poured a cup of coffee. No issues at all, no cravings or wanting to light-up, man 12mg in the SMOK AL85 is perfect. Remember, you can always go higher in the nic amount, but I honestly suggest you try 12mg to start until you get your vaping rhythm down as far as how many puffs your gonna take.

Hi and Welcome- glad that you are using the same setup to quit cigarettes! I used cigalikes at 24nic when I quit cigarettes! That and will power over 2 years ago! Now I am using the asModus MinikinV1.5 and Silvanusa, S-Body Legend 75 DNA and many others along with many sub ohm tanks like the Freemax Starre Pure and Atlantis Evo and Tobeco Super Mini tank- I also just purchased and have using my first RTAs the Obs Engine Mini and am loving that too!
I think since these sub ohm tanks can be harsh at over 6 nic that why it is usually suggested at a lower nic- but glad you are doing fine with 12nic! Glad that your wife picked out the Smok AL85 as that is a new kit just out!
Congrats to you!
Stay Strong and Vape On!

Lol, that's HIGH praise indeed !
And it so validates all the time i spent on research.
Tbh, i really have no major issues with this product at all, no leaks, no dry hits, no bullshit at all. Been vaping like a champ right out of the box. Just added juice and battery, and it's been perfect.
As for the pricey coils, my rba is on the way.. yay.

Remember, you can always go higher in the nic amount, but I honestly suggest you try 12mg to start until you get your vaping rhythm down as far as how many puffs your gonna take.
yikes, i started with 6mg on this, and if i vape more than 10 puffs, my head starts to feel dizzy.
18mg would give me nicotine overdose for sure. Mostly because this is a cloud tank, produces a shit load of vapor and hence that much more is absorbed by your body. For such tanks, 18 mg might be waay too much.

@AndriaD @SnapDragon NY : Have only had one cig since getting the mod. Dont even crave the cigs that much anymore. Heck, i think the baby beast might be supplyin more nic than what i used to smoke. I often start feeling a lil woozy after a vape sesh, and sometimes, a bloated stomach, any idea why?

Everybody has their own likes and dislikes- That's why for one person using a higher nic is good for him and works, while another person it is too much!
I did not sub ohm when I first started that is why I used 24 nic- I do not think there were any sub ohm tanks and coils back when I started, mainly egos and cigalikes! In the last year I have been sub ohming and cut my nic down to 3mgs!
Congrats on quitting cigarettes and don't beat yourself up over a misstep. Bit by bit cigarettes will taste so horrible you will not want them!
Remember you are quitting cigarettes and some of the symptoms are from your body getting rid of the 4,000 chemicals from those!
Maybe you can cut back on your vape sessions, or lower the nic, Your body absorbs vape nic differently than cigarette nic.
I felt woozy in the beginning too- I just vaped less! Plus make sure you stay hydrated! Vaping can be very drying! I always have a glass of water with me when I vape and that helps! I didn't get bloating, but my stomach was upset when I vaped too much.
I vape differently than Andria- I now vape with sub ohm tanks and coils and high VG low nic. I will use MTL tanks but prefer DL tanks too!
She vapes high PG and uses MTL tanks- point being that NO one way is right or wrong- they are what works for us- you have to find what works for you!
Try experimenting with different pg and vg levels, some flavors, maybe different tanks and coils, like a MTL tank and 1.0 coils and above, tighter drip tip.
You will find your own happy place for vaping!

18mg was what people *used to* start at, before atomizers were so efficient at producing vapor. Now it's not necessary, with all this ultra-high wattage and fancy-schmancy coils -- though some of us never did need that much; 18mg and 12mg both made me sick as a goat; I had to start at 6mg, even with my lil cigalike. :D

You're not really getting *more* nic than you used to, but, because it absorbs more slowly, you keep vaping even after you've had *enough* because you don't realize you've had enough... then when that "enough" hits you, you've already vaped more, so you feel a little sick, woozy, dizzy, etc. The "bloated" feeling is one of the first and mildest symptoms of nic OD -- you might also get hiccups, and a feeling that feels like upper and/or lower abdominal gas, little sharp stabby pains. Also the slight dizzy/woozy feeling -- I got that one when I first started smoking, way back in 1975; by the time you don't get dizzy anymore, you're a hooked smoker. :D

Also, you're now getting *only* nicotine, as opposed to nicotine plus carbon monoxide and 4000 other toxic chemicals, including ammonia, so the feeling is slightly different. It's really all just a matter of getting used to the slower delivery, and using a nic level low enough that even if you "vape your face off" (as many of us do, at first), you don't get the "icky" feelings.

Gratz on the just-one-cig -- excellent! :)

mah lovely ladies, thank for the continuing pearls of wisdom.
@Snappy, yeah it's true that everyone tries to find their own preferred setting, but per my limited knowledge, and the little experience iv had on 6mg, a 0.4 ohm coil is really not a good bet for high nic. Mostly because of the "icky" feeling that's bound to follow.

Currently i find 33-36 ohm on the 0.4 ohm Q2 coil to be a decent vape for me, a little bit dryer than i'd like though. I'm vaping a dessert flavor right now. And i'm doing about 2ml of the 6mg juice per day. What's the coil life i can expect? i'm not sure how to detect if/when my coils have passed the point of no return.
@RubenAlonzo : What settings are you vaping at dude? us newbie SMOK guys ought to stick together xD. It'd be great to have a buddy with the same device to exchange notes with.

It's really all just a matter of getting used to the slower delivery, and using a nic level low enough that even if you "vape your face off" (as many of us do, at first), you don't get the "icky" feelings.
I'm actually planning to get a 3mg and even a 0mg liquid, to do just that ! vape my face off, cuz tbh, this is way more enjoyable than a cigarette.

I do hope this weird feeling thing will pass soon though, cuz the bloated/upset feeling iv been getting in my stomach is a bit unsettling. I understand it's teething issues because of the massive change, but i'd rather discuss with you fine folk about it instead of keeping quiet and messing myself up :p

Another thing i noticed, was when i vape at the recommended wattage, it seems to produce much better flavor, but there are also tiny drops of the liquid which just seem to fly onto my tongue. A friend told me it's just the vapor condensing on my tongue and not spitback, though i doubt that it. (the liquid doesnt feel scalding hot on my tongue, so it's not true spit back for sure)

Another bit of good news here, my rba arrived, and i'll soon get into experimentation mode, a friend is bringing me some spare cotton to get started tomorrow itself. will be purchasing the wires and cotton myself from a local vendor soon.

Also the slight dizzy/woozy feeling -- I got that one when I first started smoking, way back in 1975; by the time you don't get dizzy anymore, you're a hooked smoker.
So damn true, and then you keep smoking more and more chasing that kick.

Cheers to ya'll
and vape on!
