The wicks just need to lay loosely on the deck, placing the wicks into the holes is not needed.
For me it is not the end all for flavor but it is a pretty good tank. The best thing about the Engine is no leaking so a great tank to keep in your pocket.

Not too much. the device is what it is. the best advice i can give is to build the coils as high as you can.
I remember the other thread i got flack for saying i felt the flavor from it wasn't great and was a bit muted

I think its strong point is, it doesn't leak. As far as flavor goes, many other far better tanks for that price point.

There is a flavor hit with top airflow but its my leak-free tank for work. Acceptable trade off.

1. Simple builds - it does not have huge airflow and flavor comes from balance of air and vapor, big chucking builds will just give you soup vapes.
2. Coil height - top of coils level with middle of top post holes, any higher and the coils will cut down the airflow even more ...once again giving you soup.
3. Wicking, whatever you do that works in other tanks.

Thats about it. Single coil through the middle also works well if it's still too soupy and you want to balance air/vapor a bit more on the air side.
But if you dont get any flavor use your horrible juices in it as you won't taste them...bonus!

I agree totally. I should have my Engine Nano tomorrow...bottom airflow. I expect improved flavor AND no leaking.

My OBS Engine doesn't leak a drop and has some pretty damned nice flavor for a 22mm device, not sure what the issue everyone else is having is but this is one of my favorite 22mm devices.

I actually just got one last week and I felt the same way you did the first two days. I even burnt my tongue and inner lip cuz it leaked inside the tank as I draw also constant spit back. frustrating as it is I gave it another shot and redid the wick covered the hole raised up the coil so far I am getting flavors although I still can't fully taste it cuz I have a burnt tongue. Also I'm using fused claptons and 220alien mod with 52w so far that's the sweet spot for me

You must be referring to the Engine Mini? 22mm? My Engine is 25mm. Only medium flavor.

I absolutely ADORE mine! It does take some fiddling with the build, especially the wicking. Just keep in mind what others have said and don't use too much cotton or push the tips of the cotton into the holes. Check out VapingwithVic's tutorial for more illustration on this.

It's a top airflow tank. Flavor is just not going to be there. IMO if you want flavor you need bottom airflow.
Weird enough i find Top flow airtank gets better flavor i had the vaporesso guardian tank and obs engine has better flavor compare to my 2 petri and merlin and baby beast. I find that the bottom flow tanks you open up the top lid where u refill it and let air in you get the flavor

Whatever works for you is what's best. I was just speaking in general terms.

Variety's the very spice of life, that gives it all it's flavour.

I could see it at lower watts for sure. with top airflow your sucking doesn't cool off the coils. with bottom airflow it does. so at lower watts with a bottom airflow you could be cooling it off too much and not getting the vapor production.
