I wanted to ask everyone if it is ok to use flavored tea for extracting my flavor out of to make juice. Is there things I need too look for in the tea flavors that I select to use for extracting it's flavor? Any help would be much appreciated. I want to start making my own juice, but I wanna make sure I do it safe.

What kind of tea ? I had a friend that did naturally extracted rooibos and chai. They both worked really well

I did a bit of research on this, sounds like any tea is ok as long as it's not got flavoring in it. Loose leaf is the best from what I've found out. I did some green tea, chamomile and peppermint. I'm going to mix them monday, hopefully they taste as good as they smell.

I'm vaping an Earl Grey extraction as we speak. After the extraction, I mix at 6%, with 1 drop (from eye dropper) Skinny Girl liquid stevia per 10ml.

@skocha361. Could you elaborate on making the extraction do i just make tea like normal (throw a pot on the stove, boil the water, add the tea.....) but replace the water with vg?

I put 6 teabags in a 1/2 pint jar.
Fill up the jar with distilled water. Put lid on. Put the jar in a crockpot. Fill water half way up jar. Put a folded wash cloth under jar, it keeps from burning yo juice on the bottom. I turn it on low and let it run for 4 hrs. Then I take the jar out and ring out all the tea bags. I then take that tea extract and put it in a pint jar. Then add a half pint of vegetable glycerin. Put the lid back on and put it back in the crock pot. This time you want the crockpot on warm. And you want water half way up the jar. I let mine sit overnight, remembering to add water to the crockpot as it evaporates. When you take it out, you'll have you some good ol' fashion tea for drippin. Just add more distilled water if you need it thinner. Now for 100% vg juice. Put bags in vg and leave in the crock pot for 48 hrs or so on warm.
That's just the way I do it, so I don't have to watch the stove all day.

My method is a bit different. Here's exactly what I did:

Emptied 2 tea bags into an old infant's medicine bottle (about 30ml).
Filled it the rest of the way with PG, let it soak in, refilled.
Microwaved only a couple seconds at a time (2 or 3) until it got nice and warm.
Shook the bejeesus out of it.
I think it needed a little more PG to fill it back up.
Microwaved a cup of water til about coffee-hot.
Set the bottle in it, shook it, put it back in, shook it, let it sit.

Then the straining: I used coffee filters, but it was clearly inefficient. The PG took forever to drip through, and the leaves were still pretty wet, I tried pressing them, but the coffee filter gave out first. Next time I think I'll use a thin cloth of some sort, or a very fine screen. I imagine the screen will do best.

If you use my method, do not vape this straight. I use it at 6% for my taste, but it's probably best to test each batch individually, this being a somewhat crude extraction.

I had the same problems straining because of the density of the vg.that is why I use distilled water to get the flavor from the tea, then add your pg or vg whichever you prefer. I have some that's been steeping for a good month right now, it tastes a lot better once it gets fully absorbed into your pg/vg.

So I'm reviving this thread, I've been debating on doing some like this for a while now and want to know if these two methods listed are still the best or if there are other ways to do it. I could see me vaping on an Earl Grey vape all day long.

I think I'd do it like a tobacco extraction.....and I'd probablly not use heat, but let the tea sit in PG for about a month, then filter it.

I. I want to start making my own juice, but I wanna make sure I do it safe.
I really need to find the article, maybe @HeadInClouds remembers , but anyways if you want to do it safely just order some FA black tea and some other FA flavors you might like with it, raspberry, cream etc. making your own extracts can be a bit risky. FA clearstream testing showed that homemade extracts from coffee beans and grounds actually had more carcinogens in it than a cigarette. Id be careful about it. if its just for fun until you could get your hands on some flavoring but between all the work and effort you would put into wasting 5 dollars in tea bags you could just order a 3 dollar flavor that will make several liters of juice and be sure what you are inhaling is actually safe................... just my 2 cents :)

I agree but coffee is a little different than tea. The problem with coffee is that #1 it's dirty and #2 it's generally loaded with oil... which is the real danger. The darker roasts have less oil... but it's still there. Phillip Rock uses a coffee extract from real coffee... Not that it makes it "right" or "safe"...
