Where do I even begin?

I'd like to try my hand at different coils, but have no idea where to start. It seems that Advanced Vape, Geekvape and others have a huge selection of pre-made spooled wire, and I don't think making my own wires has a lot of appeal at this point.

I'll be using the RBA that came with my TFV8 (or likely, buy a few more tanks and decks to play with). The factory clapton coils supplied seem pretty decent, but take forever and a day to ramp up...

So here's what I'm after: intense flavour, fairly big vapour clouds, and quick ramp up.

Reading all the threads and specs on coils, wires, gauges, fused, stapled, etc. is making my eyes cross!

What types/styles/sizes of wire would you recommend I start with to get what I'm looking for?

I know how you feel, there's so much information yet most of it is subjective. So, I suggest you begin at the beginning.

Get 24 and 26 gauge wire, Stainless Steel. Start with simple coils. Get a screwdriver with 2.5 or 3 mm diameter. Use one strand of wire and make a 5 wrap coil then a 6, 7, and 8 until you can do them well and consistently. Learn the basics first. Once you've achieved that, then come and ask again.

Too many variables that can come into play.

If your not interested in making your own coils I would just start off with buying premades from companies. Idk if you'd want to start out with expensive hand made coils from reputable builders but I'd go with the cheap mass produced ones to see where your at.

The quality of hand made coils tho can't be reproduced since a lot of companies that do mass produce them use ribbon wire for the core of stuff the call aliens and stuff that would normally be multi core wires. And usually their wraps aren't as nice. Think I got a premades alien around here somewhere I can take a pick of and also some of my own wrapped stuff to show you the difference in what I mean.

you can build your own but to be honest unless you like showing off, as a hobby or enjoy doing competition it ain't worth it. the little extra vapor production aint worth the premium you pay for hand made. i buy a years worth from here at a time http://www.gearbest.com/prebuilt-kanthal-a1-_gear/ i give them away to friends all the time as gifts.

personally i love the staggered fused SS316l from advanced vape. I have a lot of the prespooled fancy wire form different places and that one is my favorite

get busy and jump in...the main reason rebuildable atties came about was so that vapers could have control over the materials and choices over the cheap ass shit coming out of China..whose gonna trust the products of a country who sell posionous baby formula to their own people....building your own coils gives you control over your vaping there is no real neccessity to go around building exotic coils you can get a spectacular vape with simple coils. as your get more familiar with building you will naturally start to be curious about building exotic coils and confident to do them if you choose to...it ain't rocket science.

IMO one of the quickest ways to get better flavor is to just forget about tanks and move to a decent RDA. Staggered claptons are a good way to get into building, but I can be a bit of a wiseass from time to time so I skipped that stage by building a pair of staple staggered fused claptons before learning how to make a regular clapton (no joke).

Thanks for posting that link. For the prices they charge I can get a bunch of variations to experiment with!
