Did I just ruin my mod/battery???

I just woke up to a hell of a mess!

I got a couple of new tanks and filled them then placed them on my provaris. Put them in my stand and went to sleep. When I woke up I grabbed the one that still had juice and hit it a few times. Looking over I saw the other tank is empty.

When I picked it up all the juice was in the mod holder dripping out of my mod. :( I have taken it apart and cleaned it up. 1/3 of the battery was soaked in juice for about 8 hours or so. I'm not sure if the juice went through the mod or went up through the vent hole. I am thinking the vent hole because the top part of the inside does not appear to have juice on it.

Will this battery be safe to use? Do you think there is any damage to the mod? I've never had this happen before and no idea why it did this time either.

I'd pich the battery and send the PV back to Provari to check, you may have juice soaked into the inside wiring of the mod. just to be safe. its possible it could short out and fry the inside wiring

Wipe the battery off with a cloth. Go out to a radioshack and get a can of spray electronic cleaner: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102649

Take the bottom cap off and hold the Provari so the open end faces downward over a paper towel and spray the cleaner into the tube. 4 or 5 1 second sprays is all that is needed, all the ejuice in the electronics and tube will be flushed out.

next check the battery, if there is no blistering of the wrapper, you should be able to charge it.

The electronics cleaner is meant to clean electronics and PC boards, so it is safe to use on your provari. Just make sure to let the stuff evaporate before putting a battery in and trying your provari. Hope this helps.

I have wiped everything off already and it is all sitting on a paper towel now. The battery wrapper is not blistered or anything but I can see a line around it where the juice was. Just a darker look to it from being wet in juice. I have also sent Provape an email asking for advice.

Thanks for the input, any and all suggestions welcome! I haven't dealt with this before and don't want to screw up my mod. I will get a can of that cleaner and try that too. I didn't want to chance trying the mod if it would cause more damage by doing so. I'll try the cleaner and give it a few days before I try to fire it.

I am so sad but thankful I have a back up.

All it takes is 10-15 minutes for the cleaner to evaporate. It's some nasty smelling stuff, but it works. I had a Vamo that had a leaky tank on it, I cleaned it with electronic cleaner and it works fine.

That is encouraging. Thank you!!

What kind of tanks did you have?

Whew.... my mod is ok!! :D
That was scary and I'm thankful no damage done.
Lesson learned though...
New tanks will sit for 24 hours filled before attaching to my mod.

Thanks for all the help!

If it's a bottom fed tank like a kayfun and full you can store it upside down on a paper towel. You'll get a little juice that will leak from inside the bell. But the whole tank wont leak out.

It was in a mod stand so it wasn't on its side at all.
But problem has been solved! :)
Thanks for your thoughts though.

Good news, you still need to clean the inside of the tube and electronics, otherwise with time it will get crusty and gunked up.

You could submerge your mod in prop alcohol and let it dry, for your battery just get a new one

No, never do this with a Provari! They have changed the glue on the part where the switch is located, and this will cause it to unglue!

No worries Amanda. I'd never submerge it in anything. I'd send it in before I did anything like that. ;)

It is not "provaris" fault. I would not feel right even asking for that.

Understood, but one of the reasons people buy Provari and are loyal to them is there supposedly exceptional aftercare service and i have heard many stories of them taking care of things regardless of who's fault it is.

That service is definitely reflected in the price of a Provari so i would not hesitate to take advantage of it.

And excellent service indeed. I have been in contact with them and they responded right away.
I sort of panicked at first and told them so.
I don't need to send it in but so glad to know they are there for me if it is needed.

I don't ever want to take advantage of anyone... even a business.
Yes I paid a good price for my provari and it is serving me well.
THAT is what I paid for.

Fair enough , i just don't find it as taking advantage of anyone thats all , if you had a habit of sending it in constantly that would be a different but thats not relevant here. Anyway good post

I take my tanks off the mods at night this happened to me one time with a Provari and it scared me. I like the new tanks thst have a solid pin thst gets air from the side of the tank and not from the post thst screws into your Provari, my leak was from a Protank also so I bought all the new style bases for all my Provari and assorted other mods.

Li Ion batteries are in a pressurized sealed metal housing...submerging it won't cause problems, slathering it in juice won't cause problems

91% isopropyl alcohol, give it a good rinse and let it dry for a few hours (to let the alcohol evaporate)

Better yet, if you can get your hands on a vacuum chamber, triple rinse the rig in high % alcohol then put in the vacuum chamber, the vacuum will dry it alot faster at room temperature [you can actually boil water in a vacuum at room temperature]

and/or chuck it in a closed Tupperware bowl full of dry rice (it will attract all the asians that fix electronics) bahahahahahahahaha j/k
