Hey guys,

What cigalike/pen, whatever is good these days to help out someone with very little money to get started with vaping?

Am attempting to help someone I love dearly to try vaping but they have very little money. While I am willing to make the initial investment and supply juice for awhile, need something that doesn't require new coils every week or even every month if possible.

While I can send them a very decent RBA from my personal stash and even supply a year's worth of rebuildable coils, most folks start with a pen or cigalike, and I'm thinking that's the way to go at first.

Also, they do not have decent internet, so referring them to youtube is not a good option for troubleshooting.

Just need something pleasing and long lasting in the "first vape" department.

I've been out of the beginners game for too long, lol

Joyetech Ego AIO D22 or D22XL. Forget the D16 models.

Take a look at that eleaf iCare stuff. Several different styles and sizes to choose from but they call come in at about $15.00 or less for a setup that will come with 2 atomizers included. It's cheap, small tank systems that auto fire - if that's a plus or minus in this particular situation - dunno. USB chargeable - so no batteries to fuss with swapping. I've seen the atomizers come in pretty cheap at $10.00 or less for a 5 pack but can't speak to their longevity. (Which is typically not great for just about any of these manufacturer tank attys.)

If you think they might have issues with swapping coils on an RDA and getting it right this might be something else to consider.

The aio, innokin endura or the wismec myjet.

Out of the three the endura is still a favorite of mine for noobs.
Everything about it mimics a real cig performance. And it's an open tank system.

The t18 or t22 .. the 18 is more own style while the 22 is a small box with more mah
It is coil based but they last a few weeks each. Only other option would be a kayfun clone for rebuildable, I think they are still the best thing out there forban mtl draw in an rba

I actually have one of those and the AIO eleaf Aster coming for once they get off the cigalike phase, if that happens

Just remembering how most folks are put off if it's not shaped like a smoke and tobacco flavored, lol

Most folks :giggle: that was me also four years ago

Depending how much they vape and what they vape, coils could last a few weeks. And that's not really bad. Even in rebuildables, you have to change your wick more often than that.

The simplicity in filling and coil changes will make the biggest difference.

You've already been given good choices. So I'll not repeat what's been said.

I started with the Joyetech Ego AIO. Easy to use, easy to fill, easy to maintain.

We started with pens because we didn't know any better.
Get them something that will be useful past the beginning stage of vaping.. nautilus 2 plus one of the mini mods like the coolfire pebble

Like I said earlier in the thread, am sending them big guns, but need a cheap and easy pen or cigalike to begin, because I am assuming the cost out of my own pocket - and it is long distance, so to speak

Have tried to convert others with big guns - and ended up with cigalikes anyway

As good as it seems like it would have been to start with a more powerful device, my experience tells me that is not going to work for a lot of folks

I'm planning to start my son off with one of my old vv3's, with a carto and a very slender driptip; the carto has a really tight draw like cigarettes, and the slender driptip provides a similar sort of mouth-feel. I anticipate getting him onto my old Kayfuns after a while, but I think the cartos are a good place for him to get started. Got nearly a whole brick of them left under the counter, XL high-ohm cartos, both black and stainless. But obviously, that wouldn't be a good choice for someone who isn't right there with you.

I really don't think that their are any cheap to maintain devices out there unless you get a mod, battery charger, batteries (Duhh) and something with an RBA base and a supply of wire and cotton.

True dat. It pisses me off to see the threads where people ask for advice about a specific thing they want and the responses they get are "That sucks! Use what I use..."

Now back to that shit I'm trying to force on them. :giggle:

Take a look at the entire iCare line. There are four models that would qualify as cigalike types available.

http://www.eleafworld.com/

Ok, one is a kinda flattened (solo), but the other three are about as small as you can get and still be in that cigalike style range. (160, 140 & 110)

I purchased a GS-Air tank from Whiskey and still have some coils left. I also have an Aspire ET-S that uses the BVC / BDC coils.
I also have a Eleaf iStick 30W.
PM me if you would like them.
I would also be willing to go in on a bulk coil purchase for the GS-Air coils or the BVC coils from DH-Gate if interested.
GS-Air coils I found for .85ea with a 100min order == $85.00
Aspire BVC Coils for .68ea with a 100min order == $68.00

Check out the hohmskillet from hohmtech. Great pen with a decent amount of power. Good 1.0 and .5 coils. Someone had two for sale on here for around $8 each. I'll see if I can find the post.

pen or cigalike
I do have a couple of these in a box also. Let me look them up and see what I can get coil wise for them.

Very first pen style that I started with --- I personally didn't like it, and got the iStick 30W with the Aspire ET-S.
Yours for the taking if you want them.

I just found a Kangertech T3-D clearomizer as well that will work on this VaporFi Stick.
I found bulk coils on DH Gate for this clearomizer as well for .45ea @ 100 min == $45.00
Again, I'll go in on the order --- or just order them for you. Ether way, you helped me, I help you. :D

Super sweet of you Phantom :) I can take care of her though, just looking to see what is currently out there

I got her covered in the regular starter mod/attties arena just fine - I've been a super prepper for doomsday for quite awhile - well before the hammer actually came down - and when it did I went seriously vape shit (Just ask @inspects :giggle: )

I just want to help her succeed when first starting - I love this person very much and will give her the moon if it will help her out

She's been off smokes for several weeks (she can't afford it) and is climbing the walls if you know what I mean

Understand --- Tell me what I can help with and I will. Even if it means chipping in on coils $$$, i'll do it.

Here are some other Ideas.

Von Erl - Cigalike type
Cupti - AIO type
Zelos Kit - Mod & Tank type

I really like the Endura T22 kit but it doesn't play well with most of the higher VG e-liquids.

I know you wanted something cheap/inexpensive but as my granddad used to say "The cheap ain't good and the good ain't cheap"

Actually have tried the Von Erl and it is an amazing little device - I got one for my Mr awhile back

You can hack the pods and refill them but not sure how many times you can get away with that

I did break down and get her a Von Erl

Got three additional two-pack flavors and hope they last on the refill hack

Which only mentions the boxy iCare - not the cigalike models in the 2nd post.

So your point is what? In a pissy mood?

Seems to be an epidemic of that today. Maybe because it's the last day of winter, had to get it all out. :D

Well, imo a nautilus 2 and mini wattage only mod in a way better starter then cigalikes or those mini pens.. I started on mini pen vapes and they failed to get me off the smokes. If I would have started on my second, or even my third, setup I would have quit smoking nearly 9 months earlier than I did

Now if I said get a smok V8 and rx300, I could understand the bitching. But I thought my option, even though it wasn't exactly what she was asking for, was close enough...For less than the cost of a carton of smokes, you can get a good setup for beginners that they could still use IF they convert to vaping. One that is still simple to use but gives you a way to dial in your vape
