Will juice corrode glass?

It was brought to my attention in another thread that the juice I'm vaping is know to corrode glass tanks. I was pretty suprised by this so i did a quick search and couldnt find anything in this community. Then i hit the google and only found that there are some juices out there that combined with heat and time have cracked plastic tanks. So my questions: Are there actually juices made that will corrode real glass? I imagine that would take a concentrated acid. Also, are there glass tanks out there lined with a polymer (like auto safety glass) that would obviously degrade over time & heat. Thanks in advance!

Ejuice will not "corrode" glass. I wouldn't think there would be any "lined" glass in use, unless that "lining" was on the outside... or it was produced by a complete idiot.

Some compounds in flavoring will definitely weaken and destroy some types of plastic. That's why there are glass and metal options.

Thank you for confirming that for me. I saw a list of tank cracking juices and the juice in question wasnt on the list. While were on the subject where would i look for high quality replacement glass or even pyrex for sense blazer 200?

Ejuice corrode glass????

Darn that is worse than popcorn dry knuckles.

with that said some colored glass has a color coating that may come off.
My thoughts exactly. Considering the defensive posture of the industry I was suprised to get that response earlier today. Even if it was a "rumor" we need to be hypervigilant about anything negative and preserve vaping!

Lmfao, 'popcorn dry knuckles'.

I've not heard of any 'tank crackers' that affect glass. That's part of the point of going with glass over plastic/poly tanks. Some juices like pineapple I think being one are known to crack plastic or poly tanks. I'm also unaware of any 'safety' glass tanks, as cheap as they are for replacement pieces I think they're doing good to contain real glass.

The biggest problem might be with cheap chinese glass in terms of colored glass. I've heard some folks say they're painted and the paint can flake off (anything flaking off inside the tank is no bueno in my opinion). I don't know that that applies to all colored tank glass options or just extremely cheap ones.

I'm not sure of the quality (whether it's painted or the paint will flake off) but places like fasttech (china) have colored replacement glass. Here's a link I think that should take you to the search results page for replacement glass.

They've got smoke, yellow, blue, green, red, purple, multi packs with various colors etc. 3fvape may have them as well, not sure. Fairly cheap but it's china so a bit of a wait (month or two). I got a couple colored tanks for my avocado from fasttech and they were packed in bubble wrap. Made the trip to the midwestern u.s. in one piece, no broken or chipped edges.

I apppreciate the input guys and gals. Vaping started as a way to get off stinkies but has quickly turned into a hobby that i love. So I want to do it as safe as I can.

Well that should be easy.. safe... from what I understand just eliminating the combustion part is good for about 90% safer. The rest is just picking nits.

There are two kinds -- cinnemaldehyde, which is the flavoring of Red Hots, and is very bad for plastic; and baker's cinnamon, which is as inert as any other flavors. Some flavorings that SHOULD have the 2nd type actually use the first, so you have to be careful -- CAP's Blueberry Cinnamon Crumble is a good example; I can tell it's cinnemaldehyde because it tastes like scorched metal to me, as anything with cinnemaldehyde always does. But then there's TFA's Cinnamon Spice, and FA's Cinnamon Ceylon, which are safe for vaping or for anything you put the vape in.

I switched to glass/pryex because of tank crackers, then discovered I like my flavors better in glass, anyway.

I will say this.
If the juice is fucking up glass it is not safe for using in any fashion. If it is that caustic then it will fuck up your lungs.
I havent experienced any juice messing up glass. I started this thread because a member warned me about one of my favorite flavors being corrosive. I just wanted to follow up and confirm that it wasnt true.

Yeah, I suspect that some flavor mfr's use cinnemaldehyde rather than baker's cinnamon, because it's probably cheaper to use -- it's a very strong flavor, so doesn't need too much; the baker's type of cinnamon flavor is a bit weaker, so probably would need more, which makes it more costly to use, and some people apparently can't tell the difference. It took me a while to tell them apart, likely because my tastebuds were about the next thing to dead after 39 yrs of smoking... but when I tasted that scorched metal taste even with a brand-new coil, I knew it had to be the flavoring. If I use the TFA Cinnamon Spice, I don't get that horrible taste at all.
