So i'm new to the building coils anyway. I just started using my rba that came with my cloud beast and it seems the flavor ain't as sweet with the pre-built coils, is this normal? I wicked it with cotton bacon bits wick???, i am vaping at 60w. Oh yeah! i kept the coils that came with it which came to .29 on ohm reader thanks in advance..

Coil build will affect the taste and the smoke. I am not so sure which ohm is the best .

My suggestion is if you want to duplicate the rate and performance of a prebuilt coil or coil head.... you have to determine how it was built.... measure or estimate coil ID. Count number of wraps. Are legs non resistant welded on legs? If you know ohm and number of wires and coil ID you can use steamengine to figure out guages. Complex wire like claptons can be tricky but doable..

Fact Is if you vaping a regulated m I d the is no BEST ohm as the amount of wire used has more affect on performance than the ohm rate.

I'm a little lost here HondaDavidson, sorry bare with me i'm new to vaping & learning the ropes of building though i am doing my research. At this point i think i'm going to just build my FIRST coils instead of these claptons that came with the rba..

Yes it's time to start building.. if you have at least 1 maybe 2 tools.. a coil ohm meter and a good volt/ohm meter. Also GOOD batteries.

I suggest if you want to learn how to build and understand what affects what and what YOU need and want from a vape . Get some wire and start building coils. Start with simple single wire coils. Then try few twisted wire and parallel builds. Use a coil calculator.. Vape tool is easy a fast.... steam-engine.org is more detailed. But once you start understanding what builds you like or don't like look like. You can get real creative with you builds.

I started vaping with Kanger Protank atomizer. Real fast they weren't enough for me. So I learned to build coils.. instead of getting a nautilus. I started out by disecting the factory coil. At first this is what I used Steam-engine.org for. See I didn't have any way to measure the wire so I had to calculate that from the coils build. So I would plug the values I could measure into SE. Then play with the other values mainly guage and material till stuff matched up. Most of the stuff on SE i don't really understand. ... but i do know what Good and bad.. looks like and vapes like.

I learned to build the coils I like to vape. By building coils. By coping and modifiing factory coils. I did and do watch videos. For how to do stuff...never what to do, though. Have yet to like a video build.

try closing some airflow. 60 watts is small for such a large air flow. You can produce just like the prebuilt coils if you use big coils and high wattages.

It blew clouds like a BEAST! But the flavor wasn't their as a pre-built coil you buy. The watts too high tasted funny, burnt something like that.

In all fairness the RBA deck is hopeless for the beast ...it's "ok" for flavour but as you say not as good as the pre made coils they sell, it's a pain in the ass as wicking is a nightmare on it... when I was learning on it as you are now I very nearly threw in the towel to DIY because it was so hit and miss as an experience for me.

Don't go by this one alone though as a measure to what all DIY is like on a dedicated RTA like the Aromamizer Supreme or the Boreas (or the myriad of other RTAs, RBAs, RDTA and now GTAs (last one is a gimmick) these will knock this RBA deck out of the water ..in fact these two tanks trump the beast in pretty much every way (except maybe the ease of refilling on the beast)

And once you get into building it's even more rewarding knowing you've done it all yourself

When you installed them did you check for hotspots on the coil by dry burning it? That will lead to burning. Those dual coils shipped with the deck should be good for up to about 80w without burning

Like I said wicking is a bitch dry hits or leaking is my experience for the most part...think I managed twice using cotton bacon to wick this thing without a hitch ...

The guy at the shop said the same about the rba but I did purchase a Limitless plus rdta hopefully that's a good start. I didn't have too much trouble wicking the rba but I guess it's time to step up the game. Though I just want to learn safety overall but I appreciate you feed..

Yes I did check for hotspots and had to drum it quite a bit before they were firing decently.. I forgot to mention I just received my Coil master diy kit and check the ohms and dry fired it to..

Get straight onto that limitless matey wouldnt waste any more time on that beast RDA sound like you have everything you need right there ...(unless you plan on making fused claptons then you'll need some swivels and a drill) ...

When making simple wraps you won't be able to go near the wattages you had on the beast there is no need either

a dual coil simple wrap ohms target about 0.3 you will probably be vaping that at about 35-44w

The same set up using fused claptons will range between 75-85w

The wattage you vape at is more about the mass of the coils you use

Honda gave all the other advice you need ;)

YES SIR! Soon as i'm out of work, diving right to it again thank you for the help, much appreciated. wow so i'll be vaping a way lower wattage liking that! and the beast will probably sit and collect dust LOL

If you need any advice navigating around steam engine just give us a shout ...I don't profess to be a master, in all fairness most of it can be figured out, but between us all should be able to give you a steer ;)

Sup fellows, haven't got to building, waiting on wire, ordered 24,26,28 gauge kantal. Just getting home a little tired but going to try and put this Limitless plus together with the Clapton coils it came with though I do have 24gauge wire with my Coil kit I bought

Hell, I love the rba in my Beast. I put the stock coils in a drawer after trying the rba. Even the claptons it came with beat the T10 coils for flavor. Maybe I'm just special

Nice matey ...You'll want some 34, 36, 38 Gauge NI80 at some point to wrap the core with

Core and wrap as a general rule of thumb seperate by a gauge of 10 I.e core is 26 and wrap is 36 (this is because the the wrap is only a heat sink ...current takes the easiest route through the coil) so by having a thinner gauge wrap they heat up at roughly the same rate this way. Then hone it to what you like up or down on the wrap gauge (you'll find 36gauge wrap easier to build with than thinner/thicker stuff when starting out)

Also the same in all gauges you and I mentioned In SS 316L (although pick a gauge you like first and try it ).. a lot of people swear by SS as a cleaner taste and faster ramp up..for me personally I prefer KA1 & NI80

@PhantomOp did a wicking tutorial for the TFV8 Baby rba. Same basic technique applies. He also has the vid linking skills. I'm just on a phone in the boonies.

Also check out the "Post your builds" thread here. Lots of vid links floating around in there. Along with some truly mind boggling builds.

Welcome to VU Chevyrider619 if I haven't already said it.

Some very good "beginner" learning videos (at least what I learned on and what I feel are damn good videos), are done by Squidoode and M. Terk. There are many others out there as well that are just as good or "near" as good, including some from Grimm Green and ... ... ... hate to say it, but Rip Trippers (turn down the volume if his voice sounds like a screeching cat during the main introductions, etc.).

Squidoode - The Art of Vaping >> https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmxeyMcRET7s3I3TLKRsc0Q
M. Terk - Pristine Builds >> https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCO_UZkYhszVa0DNRcbHKEHw/videos

Pay very close attention to the details, like how they hold the spool of wire while doing a clapton coil, how they hold their hands while wrapping free hand, etc. These little, very overlooked details are a game changer and they don't always explain that.

Also, if you don't already have them, get some BALL BEARING Swivels -- BALL BEARING -- BALL BEARING --
Obviously this is very important, otherwise I wouldn't repeat it. If you don't have the correct and good swivels, you will just not make a good Clapton coil. Period.

Use and Learn Steam-Engine.com >> This simple website will allow you to "pre-build" coils and make sure that you are within specs of your MOD before you ever wrap your first wire.

I also put together a thread specifically for Wire Sources and Quality. This should help guide you in where and what to purchase for wire.
http://vapingunderground.com/threads/wire-quality-sources.310245/

And just to say it if it hasn't already been said -- ALWAYS use good, authentic, and recommended batteries. Mooch is what we call the "battery god" as he invests his time and money into testing A LOT of the batteries that are on the market for our vaping hardware and has proven what is good and bad.
https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/attachments/image-jpeg.600623/

And last but not least -- Have FUN and LEARN! Building coils for me has become quite a hobby and I am having fun doing it and learning it. I'm still a beginner compared to some of our advanced builders, but I'm am enjoying myself while doing it.

You'll need it for all sorts of coils ;) eventually if you get into it you'll want ribbon wire
0.3 x 0.1,
0.4 x 0.1,
0.5 x 0.1

And possibly even higher gauges like 40,42

But that's running before you are walking so to speak

Phantom posted some great info and vids ...once your done there find a whole load more after that lol it's great watching as many as you can to find different tips and tricks

Start with a clapton or a fused clapton these are easier to knock out and performance is exceptional for the effort required

And as Gak said head over to the following link post pics of your builds and if you can read some or all of that thread ...great to see people progress :)

Now as for the cable is did see your sticky and that's how I chose through who to buy my cable which I went with Atomizer Wick and picked up a beginner pack of Kantal A1.. it's funny what you said about RIP Rippers, he is LOUD LOL! There's a also familiar with Grimm Green, but definitely checking out Squidoode. Anyway I'll get back with you guys I'm at work you fellows have a good day...

Sup Kingpin! Yeah I sure will check all those videos for sure though, I have been checking some out when on a break. Not sure if I mentioned it but I ordered a beginner pack from Atomizer Wick which should be here probably by the weekend. So I guess I'll just go ahead and jump on it and get some ribbon wire, sometimes you got to take big steps alright bro! Got to get back to work, have a good day..
