So I'm heading to Vegas with the wife next month for a quick 4 days anniversary trip . Yes, I'm stoked about going, never been there before. I don't plan on checking a big bag, only a carry on. Now, if I plan on bringing my mod should I worry about not being allowed to bring it on board, especially if I'm bring e juice on board. I know liquids aren't allowed. It will be seen in the x-ray machine.

We all know how anal the TSA is.

What to do?

Thanks!

Not a big deal at all.

Just make sure your E-Liquids are in 30ml bottles or less and stored in a sealed quart Ziploc bag.

Make sure your extra batteries are in some kind of case. If you don't have a case, order one or go to your local pharmacy and get a pill bottle of the proper size. They may or may not charge you for them but if they do it will be something like 25 cents.

Do all of the above and you are golden.

Actually, bottles can be up to 100 ml, and you can have more than one of them...

I'd pull batteries out of mods and put in a battery case.
Personally, I tank any tanks empty, or off, wrapped in paper towel and in something like a film canister - with air pressure changes, MOST tanks will leak, and there's not much to do about it. This approach still gets you vaping pretty quick upon landing - slap the tank back, battery in, fill and vape.

Just got back from Vegas. I brought 2 mods 2 tanks, 3 30 mil bottles of juice, battery charger, and a spare pair of batteries. All. In my Cary on bag. No issues once so ever. Just make sure your tank is empty before you board the plane, or you will have a big mess when you land. Every tank will leak. It doesn't matter if it has juice flow control. Or not.

I was also told that liquids can be transported in 30 ml bottles. And what is beyond the norm, they throw in the trash. So my expensive perfume flew away.
@MrMontana Welcome to VU! :cheers:

To go through TSA you can carry on as many bottles that can fit in a single 1 quart ziplock bag. The bottles need to be 100ml/3.4 ounces or less. That perfume they tossed must have been in a larger bottle. If you want to bring a larger bottle, put it in your checked luggage. @Train explains this here: http://vapingunderground.com/threads/how-to-travel-by-plane-with-your-vape.315954/#post-1664195

I travel a lot for work and always bring 4 mods, 4 spare batteries, and 4 50ml bottles of e-liquid. The mods and batteries I place in a bowl or bin so the x-ray agent can see what they are without pawing through my backpack. Making their life easier makes my life easier. I use PreCheck so my liquid ziplock bag stays in my backpack through the x-ray.

When I flew in 2016:

Lithium batteries must be in carry on luggage, you are allowed the batteries in the device + 2 spare sets. So if the device takes 1 then you could take 3 (1 in + 2 out), if it takes 2 then you could have a total of 6 batteries (2 in + 4 out). This is allowed per device so you can take multiple devices to take more batteries. The security people may not even bother counting them to verify, or the airline may have it's own stricter rules so look up their regulations before booking a flight. Security people may want to look in the bag after it goes through the xray due to the batteries and mod showing up on their screen.

Eliquid is subject to carry on limits unless in checked luggage (I took 4x 240ml bottles with no issues at all). If you put it in checked luggage then make sure it is securely closed and bagged. I used vacuum sealed bags for mine. Checked luggage isn't stored in a pressurized area so you don't want the liquid to leak out and get over everything else.

Fwiw airlines now allows 12oz "hand sanitizer"

"How about that?" They let you carry improvised Sterno into a pressurized cabin. Be something if they allow the ladies carry on acetone based nail polish remover as well. Interesting times indeed.

I complained to TSA at the start of covd19.. I was "in a mood"..then a few weeks later I saw the news.

My hand sanitizer has a sugar cookies smell.. And should last me about 12 days.

I also really want to visit Las Vegas this is really very cool place to relax!

Am sure it is a matter of personal opinion. I would though suggest going to a sheep farm, stay over night in an old farm house. If you can let the farm owner use you as a set of extra hands for some of the chores the day before. When you wake that next morning you'll know peace, contentment. :)

Okay, here is my story of vaping on a plane. I told it in the other forum when I got back from Portugal in October of 2019 (and so glad I splurged on that trip, not knowing the Covid bogey was sneaking up on the horizon). It isn't that I can't fly without vaping. I've done it many times, but a trans-Atlantic flight is such a long one, I knew I would enjoy it more if I could vape.

In business class on Tap Portugal, you get your own playpen, shielded from view by a sort of armchair wing on the aisle, high seat back, and a darkened cabin on a night flight. I watched for flight attendants, and stopped when they came out from their curtained area. They weren't looking for vapers or vapor, even though the pre-flight announcements included "smoking is not allowed on the aircraft, including electronic cigarettes", in both Portuguese and English.

I'm not recommending that anyone vape on a plane. I don't want anybody to have an air marshal waiting for them when they exit the plane. I wanted to see if an onboard computer could read my device in use, or if my vapor would cause an alarm to go off, and if other travelers could remain oblivious to my habit. I couldn't have gotten away with this in the economy cabin, but I had a very satisfying experience in business class, vaping unflavored after the gourmet dinner with excellent wine, having a vape after waking from a flight nap, feeling at home, feeling fine.

Vape hysteria has spread to Europe. When I asked my Portuguese tour guide if I could vape, he said "isn't that harmful?" I explained the black market THC/vitamin E oil scandal. I explained to him what is normally in ecigarettes, the pg which is the same carrier for nic as it is for medicine in asthma inhalers, the vg which has internal medical applications such as ear drops, eye drops, suppositories, etc. He said "but the flavorings can be harmful". I agreed with him that I do not know if a flavor, even if 100 percent clean and safe to eat, is safe to inhale, but I told him (the truth) that I vape only unflavored when I'm around others, so they are spared any potential harm from the flavorings. In the end, he became very relaxed about it, and told me to vape freely.

I vaped everywhere I went in Portugal and Spain, but I don't find stealth vaping very satisfying. I did it, in corners of restaurants, blowing the vapor sort of under my arm or down over my chest. I liked white tables, white walls, white curtains, because your vapor disappears there. I vaped freely outdoors.

I took 30 ml. liquid with me for a 9 day trip. You don't vape as much when you're walking around, sight seeing, hiking the caminos, but after stealth vaping at meals, and freely vaping during the evenings in my hotel rooms, I got home with 2-3 ml. remaining in the bottle. It's a good thing it lasted, because I saw zero vape shops in the towns I visited on the Camino Portugues and the Camino Frances, which are less traveled portions of the Camino Santiago de Compostela.

I vaped all over the airports too, during the waits for flights and the stopovers, in the US (Newark) and abroad (Porto airport). There is always an abandoned gate with the lights out, and I found there just aren't any airport authorities patrolling for vapers, at least none that I could notice, and I was watching out for them.

That's my true story, but I admit to being a risk taker. I remember smoking pot on a plane, in the economy cabin, a long time ago when I was younger and had shit for brains. Big hit from a tiny one-hitter pipe, holding it in until nothing came out, didn't get caught.

Great story. If I put my Novo4 at 5 or 6 watts with heavy pg juice, it's VERY easy hide.

Ive flown several times with my vape and only was a problem one one or two occasions and if you dont have any RBA tanks or supplies with you then honestly dont even worry about anything. When I sent my bag through they grabbed it right up pulled me aside and started going through it until they came to the "questionable" items which were just some premade coils i made proir, cotton, a couple small screwdrivers, tweezers, scissors, and my 521 tab. I told them what it was and what for and they said im all good and went on my way.
