Coil gets dirty fast?

Cleaning it is fast enough that it isn't really an issue but if I go a week without cleaning my coil it gets dirty fast and the cotton is grungy as heck by that point. I find myself needing to clean and rewick my coil every 3-4 days for optimal vape, is this about average? Are there ways to keep your coil cleaner for longer?

My roomates coil stays shiny and silver for around a week without any cotton deterioration. My coil and cotton are completely coated in black gunk around five days after cleaning, and we both use the same brand and flavors of juices.

He is running dual micros at .9 ohms and I'm running a single at 1.4 ohms. I like less wicking material and he likes more.

I think thats even a bit longer than average if your vaping constantly and using cotton . Wow, a week without dry burning is quite a while , while the coil is usually fine a re wick with cotton should be done pretty regularly , Rayon you can go longer .

Well your friend is obviously doing something different than you if your e juice etc.. is the same , he's also running a hotter vape so that may have something to do with it.

Try Rayon, stuff lasts a long time and stays virtually gunk free with most juices.

I find with my coffee/coco juices they tend to get darker faster since I am using some TFA coffee in the mix which is dark.
My others unless I am dry hitting the cotton every now and again and staying sweetener and light color they last a long longer.

I normally need to dry burn my coils every two to three days or when the resistance drops by 0.2 ohms.

Perhaps your roomate goes through less juice than you do? I rewick and dry burn every couple of days - three at most. But I go through a LOT of juice in those few days!

if you haven't tried the Rayon Cellucotton this could give you some extra time before rewicking..

to give you an idea - I mostly only use custards and with regular cotton they were gunking up way too quick.. usually after 1-1 1/2 kayfun tanks and I would need to rewick... now with rayon I get 2- 2 1/2 before I need to rewick and even then I could probably get longer - the wick still doesn't look half as dirty as it did with regular cotton (it was usually black lol) ..

plus the rayon wicks way better and tastes cleaner to me - i got a huge box of it for 25$ and it will probably last me the next 2 years

I rotate mods alot so it depends on how much use one gets and the type of juice. I also use cc rayon and it doesn't get gunky nearly as quickly as the KGD I was using. And it wicks better. :) The juice can have alot to do with gunking as well as others have said. I find that the net tobaccos and sweeter juices need dry burning and rewicking every 2-3 days. The other juices can go much longer. It's a matter of me noticing taste being off and well, they just look gunky ;)

What kind of mods are you using anyway?

next time you rewick, post a pic of your build.
i found that doing mouth to lung hits instead of straight lung hits clogged my coils with 70vg/30pg mix.
try to continue sucking air after you release the fire button; this draws juice to the wick for the next hit.
of course, this assumes you are using an RTA. i usually rewick every 2 weeks. im using an orchid v4 by tabeco.

He has a Valkyrie mech and I'm vaping on an MVP v2 with a Tobeco Mirandus clone (It is an awesome little clone).

pulling more air across your coil will help slow the gunking process. it could be that your buddy has a larger air hole, is pulling direct to lungs, pulling more deeply than you, or a combination of any/all three.

Try and make your Wick a little bit thicker it can absorb juice better and it can vaporize the juice better instead of it just staying all on the Cotton doesn't really matter what kind of juice you have or what kind of coil in my opinion I think the thicker the wick the more juice it can take but also longer-lasting it is
