Hi! I bought a bottle of Domino organic blue agave nector at the supermarket. Mixed per instructions, 1mil agave per 10 mils of pg. Then, I made a mix with 3 drops of my new sweetener. It tastes funky! Maybe I should not have purchased the blue? It is a light color and has no other ingredients listed. I'm vaping it using rayon and first thought the new rayon taste may have affected it, but it isn't changing. Does anyone have experience using agave? Thanks!

I have cooked with this. I found the vaping directions here and had heard on socals show that he uses it as a vaping sweetener. I love sweet vapes and ethyl maltol doesn't always sweeten enough in some mixes, or just for a change.

rule of thumb when using agave:

9ml pg/vg to 1ml agave

then only use max up to 3 needle nose dropper drops..

funky.. hmm not sure on the blue agave..
the one i picked up came from aldi's.. it's light amber..
not sure if that helps..

Yep, I did it correctly. I do need to refill my tank, so I will thin it out with more vg, just in case as I did put in three drops. A friend just picked me up some organic light agave. Will have to tackle that tomorrow as I'm going to have to find and/ or clean out some more bottles. Thanks for the tips!

Yep, it would be enough to last a lifetime of vaping! I thinned it out and it seems to have improved it. Plus, I am currently vaping this with no other flavoring, just to test. I do think I will like the light agave better.

next time, try adding in:

sweetener 2%
em at 1%
and then the agave..

watch the magic ;)

Smoky, do you mean do this when I mix up my own sweetener, or add this to my flavored mix? I do have some em, will try mixing that together next. I am enjoying the diluted mix better, I think I added a bit too much agave. My next step will be to add a bit of vendor juice that isn't sweet enough for me, then, I will mix the light agave.

when you are ready to mix juice..
so like if you wanted a strawberry that is way sweeter than what you have, it would look like this:
4% Strawberry fe
sweetener 2%
em at 1%
and then the agave.. (3 drops)

Sounds sweet, lol! What are you using for sweetener? And, for everyone else, by 3 drops of agave, he means the diluted agave nectar.

Ok, more experimenting! When I mixed the blue agave with the em mixture, I could still taste the agave. I had a little blue raspberry vendor juice that wasn't quite sweet enough, even with a few drops of em. So, I mixed everything together and YUM! The blue raspberry flavor is muted, but is masking the blue agave and it is definitely sweet enough. I would add a drop of sucralose mix, but that might be overkill, at this point. I will try one drop before it is all gone, just to get a feel for it. Time to clean out some bottles, next I will try the organic light agave mixture by itself.

Happy to see you dancing! :) I do know not to use real sugar. I did add two drops of sweetener that I had purchased from a vendor that I am assuming is sucralose. Unfortunately, it seemed to take away some of the sweetness and blue raspberry flavor. When I get my own blue raspberry flavoring, I will try the agave/em.

if it was tfa sweetener, I dont think that was the culprit.. more likely the em.. ;)
pop up your recipe and let me take a look..

if you are talking about the blue raspberry cotton candy..
it is not a true blue rasp cotton candy..
i'd suggest percentages like this:

8-10% blue raspberry cotton candy cap
.5% bilberry fa
1% raspberry sweet tfa
4% sweetener
1-2% em
3 bottle drops diluted agave

and see how that turns out..
i heard a few talking on the br cotton candy and they all say it's not a true flavor..
you will have to play with this one and try your best to turn it out right..

Hi! I wasn't doing a recipe, just playing around with agave. Using organic light, not blue agave, it is much better, even alone! I want to try some onestopdiy blue raspberry flavoring. Just going for a blue slushy, nice and sweet! I do have tfa circus cotton candy, that tastes like playdoh to me. :(

wow.. ok..

personally, I make my own blue slush.. using other things..

2% bilberry
1% raspberry fa
.5% vanillin
.5% menthol
4% sweetener
1-2% em
3 bottle drops diluted agave

Hmmm, that sounds interesting. Can you taste the menthol, or is it just for a slight cooling effect? Do you sell your juices?

So today, my wife brought home some Agave light because she wants to cut down on sugar. I stole it. Made 10mls dilution per @Smoky Blue instructions and since the juice in my tank was tasting a little blah to me I dropped one drop of the dilution into it. Nice. It didn't mute any flavor at all and added a nice sweetness. It seemed to fit right in.

Anyway, thought I'd share my experience, thank @Smoky Blue and this will be a great addition to my juice making tools.

She really is a wonder woman! I am actually vaping the agave mix in a tank and have added it to most of my mixes. Definitely stick to the light, rather than the blue agave. I think Smoky's recipes are so good because of the layering, using many different types of flavorings and sweeteners together.

thank you, EM :p i love to play with my flavors and what nots.. :)

I notice they have the blue, Amber,& light in store...use Amber yes?

i have the lightest clear amber one, form a local save a ton food shop..

SMOKY THE TFA SWEETNER, DOES IT LEAVE ANY AFTERTASTE LIKE SACCHARIN AND DOES IT CHANGE AFTER WEEKS?

no.. but you can over do it.. I rarely take my sweetener over 4% and normally that is total sweet additives..
i stick to around 2% most of the time, but once you find your spot, you will know..

a lot of juices do not really need to sweeteners.. knowing what i know now..
its a call of judgement on how sweet a juice you want to make.. :)
