NEED NEW MOD ASAP!

So my SMOK Alien 220w screen went out. Currently back to using my SMOK X Cube II. But I am having lots of issues with it always asking if it is a new coil (yes it was a brand new coil) every other hit. I am stationed in Korea right now so I need to order a new Box Mod. My normally vape at .15 ohms at 120 to 140 watts sometimes 180 watts depending on the mood. I use 6mg nicotine. Can I get some suggestion on what to get? I cant seem to find something that I like. So I am going to see what you all have to say. I want something that isn't going to ask if its a new coil every 20 hits (starting to think that SMOK has an issue with that in the firmware or something.)

Not looking to spend over 200 on a complete setup (Box Mod and Sub Ohm tank)

Sorry if this is in the wrong section. I saw a couple other posts similar so I think this is the right section, if not please let me know and I will move it.

Thank you in advance.

Please check your positive pin.
The one in the center of the threading where the tank goes.
It may just be dirty or you may need to pry it up a little.

Could you maybe have it in stealth mode?
No I know I'm not in stealth mode. The screen kept getting dimmer and dimmer for days before it just stopped working. I have also read in several reviews and on a couple other forums that it has happened to others quite a bit.

It gets cleaned every day with a Q-tip. How does that part affect the screen?

Wow... I hate to hear that, I own three of them. No issues so far, but I hope this isn't something I have to look forward to.

I was just thinking if the connection was weak that it could be powering in and out between hits.

You may want to look into products by Hohm Tech

They make the Hohm Wrecker V1 & V2

I have also have a Sigelei 150 watt without Temp Control that has been working great for two years now with daily use.
If you can still find one I think it is by far the most dependable box mod I have ever owned.

I would hope you have better luck than me. I thought about ordering another Alien but I'm not sure I want to deal with this issue again.

Looked into them. The websites that I am finding aren't selling them anymore. I am also not a big fan of the design. looks a lot like the SMOK X Cube II which is bulky imo.

The Smoant Battlestar is a well built mod. Check out this review/breakdown and tech test by SirRichardRear:

http://vapingunderground.com/threads/anthony-vapes-smoant-battlestar-200w-mod-review.308869/

This thing is built like a tank! :) You might also like the Smoant Charon. It's beautiful mod and works great.

Maine Vapor Room still has the Hohmwrecker G2 LE in stock in red for $60.

https://www.mainevaporroom.com/product-page/hohmtech-hohmwrecker

I love mine. It took me a while to find one in stock when I had the money to get it and I'msure glad I finally made it

These are all well made mods and they all work great in tc mode if you swing that way. If you need a good mod that will stand up to pretty much anything you throw at it and scream " Is that all you got Mother F*****?", then I'd say get either the Hohmwrecker (#1), or the Battlestar (#2) with the Charon a very solid #3.

I have a thing against red lol. I have been looking at the smoant battlestar. I don't use temp control (mainly because I have no clue how to use it or how it works.) but seeing as I'm looking for a complete new setup. I am willing to try mostly anything. whats the difference when vaping wattage vs temp control?

So I am currently looking at elementvape.com where they have the smoant battlestar. what are some good tank to get? I currently have a TFV8 and I like it but I'm trying to get away from SMOK at the moment. Maybe just use it as a back up.

I prefer sub ohm tanks as I don't have time to always build coils (plus I suck at building coils. I keep thinking about buying a coil building kit but pretty hesitant about it.

I personally think Smok has the tank market in it's hands right now with quality across the board. They have for a while IMO. I don't know what you are desiring in a difference though, and there certainly are good tanks that are different. The Crown 3 is new, I don't have em' yet but they are gonna be on the way. Also the Cleito Exo by Aspire is nice too. It has a unique top airflow. It's also pretty robust and protective. I like the Cleito series, but the Baby through the TFV12 are tops to me.

What is it about the TFV8 that you are looking for a difference in? That could help direct you, if I missed it, my bad.

And I don't have experience with the battlestar, but I know they are well reviewed by people around here I trust. I don't sell em', but @SirRichardRear is a great guy and trusted reviewer. He is a Battlestar fan. Check out Anthony Vapes on Youtube for his reviews, I'm guessing he'll pop in here too. He can give you a good rundown of the Battlestar.

Tons of great options... sorry your Alien went out. They really are good devices, but quality control is never perfect. I hope you find something you like soon!

Yeah i'd say hard to go wrong with the battlestar. I did a full review here

Misthub.com has them for under 40 bucks shipped (US seller) with code REDDIT15 in a variety of colors

As far as the tank as @Cloudy Peak Vapes said it's going to be hard to match the smok tanks, a few similar options are the clieto exo, ijoy exo XL, cleito 120, possibly the crown 3 (I don't have one yet to judge) but all of those can't do the watts the full size TFV8 can. If you wanted a step up from that the cigpet eco 12 is a great choice, I prefer it by a small amount to the TFV12 but that really needs a triple or quad battery mod, in which case the smok G320 or ijoy zenith are good options. I have reviews for most of the stuff i've recommend in this post :)

I just picked another one up.
I got my V2 for around the same price when HolmTech was running that super deal around November and I had gotten a V1 from HolmTech when they were selling on eBay about a year ago

The V2 (and it's the limited edition) was going for $199 when it first came out.

Thanks again:)

I'll be in Seoul for a week starting June 1. If you are interested I can bring you a brand new Smok Gpriv, Tesla Nano, Lost Vape Triade DNA 250.
I also have a used (but excellent condition) Lost Vape Triade DNA 200, HCigar Vt DNA 133.
These are from my personal collection and I would only charge you what I paid for them.

You didn't mention what tank you are using. If you have been Vaping for awhile, you should look into a rebuildable tank whereby you make your own coils.

If you are interested, do your homework on these devices or ask the others here for their opinion. Thank you for your service to our country.

I have heard quite a few people on Facebook complaining that their smok alien mod died on them.
I guess their QC isn't as good as other companies.

I have a smok skyhook that I won from 101vapes on a mod envy broadcast and after I filled it and the eliquid was in the tank for a couple weeks I went to pick it up to vape it and it was empty and the mod was all wet.

I figured it may have fell over and maybe the juice leaked out that way so i cleaned it up and refilled it and kept my eye on it this time to make sure it didn't fall over.

In less than 12 hours all of the eliquid had leaked out through the battery compartment and on to my table.

The built in tank must have a small crack in it.
If I had bought it and it failed after filling it once I'd have been a lot more pissed off about it than I am now.

My skyhook dumped on me as well form day one. sent it in for warranty, still waiting on a replacement I feel like the skyhook may have a design flaw. can't say for sure until i get a replacement.

Honestly, I'm not sure what difference I'm looking for. I know mine likes to leak sometimes. But that's usually an easy fix. I was thinking that the Cube and Alien always asking if it was a new coil was due to the tank. But I am probably wrong.

If you've got leaking, I'd try changing your gaskets and making sure everything is nice and snug. I truly have never had a drop leak, or even a gurgle from a TFV8. Bad coils could cause that too. It happens occasionally. I like the Q4's the most personally. And the Smok Alien asks if it's a new coil. I suppose its unnecessary in power mode, but it's consistent and it does it as it should. I do think it should just automatically adjust to the new tank if it's in power mode, but it's not a bad thing to ask.

I will say one thing. I do agree with @SirRichardRear. The battlestar is a nice mod and it's super smooth in power mode. I'm only using 50 watts so I can't vouch for higher numbers but I'm loving it at that level. I have not tried tc but I may get around to it. To be honest, I have been enjoying power as much as tc in all my mods lately and have cut back on tc.

I wish the screws were a little larger than microscopic.
If they were i'd open it up to see what I find.
I wish the tank section was made of a different material because it looks like it's that same cheap stuff that was on the old plastic clearos that used to crack with certain eliquids back in the day.

Could be but I didn't even use a plastic tank killer juice lol. I used caramel waffle from the sauce and woke up in the morning to a puddle

Sorry I haven't updated this post. I ended up ordering the Smoant Battlestar (Color Tarnish) and a new TFV8 (Green) and a Sense Blazer Pro (Blue). Hopefully its a good setup. Here in a month though I will probably order another mod so at least I have a back up if the Battlestar decides to brake on me. Also, ordered some drip tips which wasn't the easiest task on finding them. Also bought Coil Master V4 Style 6-in-1 Coil Winder so I can possibly start making my own coils. Just need to order some coil and cotton as soon as I get the time to research on making proper coils.
