I don't think 528 did anything wrong. If there was a short, putting it on a mech and firing it would make it quickly evident. If it wasn't a short, it would make it quickly evident. Regardless of which issue it was, putting it on an unregulated mod WOULD tell you the issue. I do this sometimes, and I'm an electrical fucking engineer, so I know how dangerous a short can be.

No short (unless it's a literal dead short) is going to be SO bad it causes thermal runaway / damage of any kind in one second or less. Simply pressing the fire button for half a second and releasing would make it obvious if there was a short or not. Also, it's HARD for the RDA to be at fault, RDA's are SIMPLE as hell. You have negative post(s) milled into the deck, then a positive post(s) with an insulator around it and a copper pin running to the 510 positive pin on the mod. Unless there's a clear issue with said insulator, there's no way it can be a short issue on the RDA itself.

I think 528 just told the guy to troubleshoot, that's it. People have become so fucking terrified of lithium batteries it's getting ridiculous. ANY even SLIGHTLY, POSSIBLY unsafe thing will have people roasting you at the stake, which is obviously what is happening here. #StopTheLithiumCult. People are turning battery safety into a religion. We can all color outside of the lines people, you just have to be as safe and as smart as you can be whilst doing it.

Retail regulated mods can be picky and finicky, so I in no way fault 528 for suggesting this as a troubleshooting option.

Also, the issue (jumping resistance) can probably be boiled down to one of three things. One, a bad 510 connection on the mod itself. Two, a loose/bad connection on the post-to-coil part of the build. Or three, a loose post (loose 510 pin, loose negative post, etc.). None of these three things are dangerous..

I think 528 would've saved themselves some grief if they just stopped posting after the first few comments, then deleting the comments definitely made it look worse. I don't think it's because they fucked up, more because they just wanted to separate themselves from the bullshit as much as they could at that point.

All this is coming from me, someone who has openly and publicly stated on multiple occasions that he does not like 528 Customs or their mediocre products.

A well stated case, @Mikhail Naumov. All I can say is the guy wasn't comfortable putting it on a mech, and he's clearly not alone in that regard. Not a lot of folks possess your level of electrical knowledge, myself included. It's just a case of, "better safe than sorry", as lame as that saying has become.

On a personal level, I agree with most of what you said. But for the sake of the industry(kill me, please), I want to help protect the ignorant and stupid, if it means less bad press.

Also, if I reached out to a company, and their response began with the word "Bruh", I couldn't take anything they said seriously after that. LMAO

I saw his posts on Reddit also and looked at his post history...Not sure if the 510 fiasco happened on his Wismec Predator, but I would attribute that to why he may of been experiencing what he was...Then I saw he posted the same thing on a couple sub-reddits and ran with the one with most traction, and I stopped giving two shits.

He only posted on 2 the vaping and electronic cigarette ones
Nobody responded in the vaping one as it's mostly for handchecks.

I by no means think 528 is an amazing company, their customer service skills are hit and miss (heard some hail them as saints who do everything to help, heard others say they basically told them to go fuck themselves.), the whole 3F clone thing is still a big mystery, and while I think they were in the right here, they went about conveying it in the WRONG fucking way.

Everyone has different comfort and skills level. For a 60 dollar rda I would have said to send it back we'll test it and if it's bad we'll send you a replacement.

Also the way they handled the instragram thing was piss poor. They blocked me and all I said was telling someone with a possible shirt to fire it on a mech is bad advice.

Did you ever see my melted lug pic and story ? Lol it disappeared too I think someone borrowed it and never returned it.

I agree there was a lot of poor form in this situation. There is a lot of details the person speaking on the behalf of 528 should have asked for and specific directions with respect to firing it on a Mech (which I personally wouldn't do since I have a 521 Tab). This is an example for if it were to have been a newbie it could have lead to a catastrophic event.

In this day and age - the Internet age. The customer is right more than ever. One wrong move by a company in the customer service aspect will make them lose a lot of credibility. The big companies spend a lot of money on community managers and customer service to make sure that it's in top form. Smaller companies should learn from them and at least be good enough to sort some sketchy situations out. I still stand by my opinion that asking someone to try it out on a Mech is the worst reply ever. Even if the customer is a dick/troll/gnome etc.

I like their products. One hit and one miss for me. I'll have to wait till the 1.5 arrives to see if it's a hit.

This might be the last purchase cause I have lost quite a bit of respect for a company that in a way, treat their customer like shit.

Not professional at all. Almost thug like.

What was your melted lug pic and story? I agree with what you are saying here, just have not seen what you mention.

I think this was really bad in the way it was approached, and worded. I can understand they may of meant the regulated mod was reading incorrectly, but if this is what they meant, it should have been made clearer.

It's kind of like if one of my amps started to blow fuses, and being told to bridge the fuse as then the problem will stop. It likely will, but at what cost?

I posted it somewhere here with a pic of the lug. But short version I told engineer he needed to replace the lug it was stripped and not making solid contact. He said nah it's fine. 2 weeks later it arced and melted the lug and damaged some other stuff to. Had to replace a ton of crap.

Ive never owned a Goon and have never dealt with their customer service so I cant give insight on that aspect but after reading all the replies, Im 100% in agreement with the bad advice from 528, it somewhat angers me though that for some odd reason, experience, engineering backgrounds and positions in the industry get thrown out like thats going to comfort or ease a possibly bad situation.

If a customer is unhappy with a product, a safe and known good diagnostic process should have been requested and/or recommended, or a return request should have been immediately requested without other options, asking to put an ohm jumping dripper on a mechanical mod is not a responsible request, whether it be safely tested or not.

What if the owner of the dripper was some well known coil builder? Would the situation have been handled differently? Hmmm maybe...but when engineering backgrounds, owners of the company, master coil builder, 4 yr blah blah builder, built every rda and tank blah blah status gets thrown out there to make a paying customer feel like theyre incompetent, thats where the poor business ethic kicks in.

No product and i mean no product is without flaw, vaping or not, customer error may be a possibility but ruling out design error is a bad decision, "the customer is always right" saying may be bs but a well treated customer does lead to repeat business and loyal customer clientel.

I say replace the dripper and be done with it.

Yep they knock these out like candy now ...why not go through a few checks with the customer then if no joy have them send it in and replace it ...done

On another note are those ones on 3F vape actually legit? Seen some of the comments how the clamps are smaller than normal and you don't get all the bits you do with others ...was looking at getting from them but still on the fence

I think they are legit, I did anyway, but seeing how dumb this company can act makes me think they are even more so, and they are just butthurt at the price they was going for.

Then again I think a lot of things manufactured in China are sometimes authentics that didn't pass QC that get put in a clone pile, or randomly chosen, and the Chinese are laughing at everyone that buys the 'authentic' lol.

So 528 wasn't on board with the ones being sold on 3FVape? Did I miss something

Yup there was some drama. 528 threw a fit over the price if 38 bucks and made them raise it all while claiming they were fakes so they didn't get undercut. Forgot about it for a while. Really sounds like 528 is run by a bunch of asses

Who knows. Pretty sure they aren't clones or 3f wouldn't have raised the price. I've never seen them try passing a clone off as authentic. They are a legit site

Ok found this on Reddit contains the post left by 528 and after some rantings later a reply by 3FVape saying they are legit and it was just a special offer ...nothing really after that though

https://www.reddit.com/r/electronic...rently_those_authentic_goons_that_went_up_on/

It's funny 528 said they never heard of them ...erm really?

528 has another thing on their hands. They are now dealing with the airflow design flaw on the 1.5. On a dual coil setup, If the airflow is closed to the minimum the slots of the single coil will show.

Pretty disappointed with this company as I'm quite sure they were aware of the airflow design flaw. How could they have ignored it. I've ordered my 1.5 and yet to arrive and it will be the last 528 product for me.

I just watched the same thing, but from a different reviewer! I'm almost embarrassed that I purchased one of these as well...They seem to have been a one trick pony with the original Goon. I was hoping they would have redeemed themselves from the shitty quality of the LP, looks like I was way wrong. Live and learn I suppose. I should have spent my money elsewhere.

I had the LP too and bloody disappointed with it. No more 528 for me after this.

I'll spend my money elsewhere as well. The speed at which the clone appeared is mind boggling.

Any of you that ordered your goon 1.5's get it and throw your *go to build* in it? Just curious because I picked one up at my local shop, threw some fraliens I like to build and they are reading rather high (28g ka1 frames, 8 ply .3R ka1, 40g n80 5 wrap around 3mm) they normally come out to .11-.12 on my OG goon but when glowing them they read .2 and now have been jumping between .14-.18 even on my DNA 250. I don't mind the airflow it cuts down enough to where I'm good but that drip tip is a bit too wide.

I had a Goon RDTA from 3fvape that jumped in resistance...a pair of .08 ohm coils sitting at 2.50+ ohms in it...I didnt put it on a mech becuase I knew better...I used the topcap and tossed the rest...the issue was with a coating that was on the connections...I dont see how any of the Authentic Goons could have a similar issue because they are bare metals or gold plated.

This was a pretty obvious troll IMO, the only way for this to happen was with a loose connection (510 pin/coil/clamps) and would be easily fixed after tightening everything. Everything tightened-No Coated Connections=reads as it should.

Im not against nor with Goon, Ive been treated horribly by most of their build team and been given the cold shoulder by most of the people that are good friends with them....but I do like a well built product and wont shit on a company if a person is just out to make them look bad.

So you reckon the goons on 3FVape are fakes Raymo? Not the RDTA but the RDA they sell as authentic?

Those are authentic...3fvape proved they were sold to them by a authorized dealer...They sold them at wholesale prices and 528customs wasnt okay with that and warned 3fvape raise the price or they will terminate the dealer they get them from...it was alot of shit and really I think thats retarded but its business...alot of other companies enforce the same standards in pricing though...

So if you were lucky enough to buy those authentic goons when thy first put them up you got them at wholesale cost...I wish I had cash because I would have bought 10....

Dammit me too I only held off because I was suspicious and comments on the site were all over the place, don't know why I didnt, never had a problem with 3F before and ordered a few bits from them now

I order from them almost daily...damn place is better then a candy shop and steals all my god damn money!
I just grabbed my first squonk (Black Boxer) and a black goon 1.5 clone from them...Im going to compare the Goon 1.5, I have a authentic and looked for hours comparing all the clones and this one seemed to be the most accurate.

Trust me...If I wont the lottery Id probably have a vacuum tube built from their shipping dept and a monthly subscription for new gear there...

Its a clone for sure, the authentic doesnt have a lip around the bottles window and has boxer printed on the inside also but the differences are negligible...its still a 3d printed box and will do the exact same thing so the experience wont be any different...so if your buying one to test a squonker then its a good way to do so.

3FVape is great about stating whether something is a clone or authentic...so if theres another situation in the future like there was with the Goon then Id buy as soon as you can before the pricing changes...

I have no idea what it could be, I did wash it with some dawn soap before I used it, but I suppose that wouldn't be enough if there was any kind of coating on it. I'm pretty sure its authentic the shop I purchased it from is legit they have their sister company EVcigarettes.com. They are basically the brick and mortar of that called All Day Vape. I reseated the build twice during glowing because of the resistance being off, tightened the 510, the negative post screw and the clamps pretty well. The coils glow evenly and it vapes, just the resistance bounces between .14-.18 . I got the black 1.5 and there is a little paint on the negative threads, but I don't know if that could cause it to read wrong? goon1.5.jpg

The Barrel and cap wont have anything to due with the connection or resistance changes, only the posts and the connections to the deck and 510 pin could alter resistance.
Take out the posts, check where the posts connect to the deck, is there anything at all between? Any residue/oil/grime will cause resistances to be off...there may be a clear coat. I would take a file tip or a Flathead driver and scrape the negative square hole out, sand the posts bottoms, then sand on the clamp surfaces the coil would touch.....If its still reading off then I would suspect the threading to be dirty. Other then that there isnt much at all that could be changing the resistance RDA wise and I would suspect the wires themselves or the mod your using it on.

Thanks Raymo appreciate that your always willing to help, will definitely try what you've suggested and report back if it fixes that. If I ignore the resistance it vapes alright but something just feels a bit off.

Thanks again Raymo, I removed the posts and cleaned up the contacts and when I put it back together it is now reading .12 which is what this build read on my OG goon. Vaping much better now!

Glad to hear it, Im sure it was just some machinging oil or some residue that was in the way of the connection. Its always a good Idea to break everything down and really clean it before you use...since my Goon RDTA Ive kept an eye on coated posts, no more for me!
