Kayfun V5 wicking

I'm new to the forum, so I would first like to say hello... Hello!

I have a Kayfun V5 which I've been using for three days. It's a great RTA, but it seems I can't get the kind of flavor from it that I'm use to getting with my Serpent Mini. Any advice on wicking for the V5 would be appreciated. I have the wicking slightly long I think, but I've lifted the 90's to an arch to help lift the wick ends a bit. Should I leave it as-is, or do you recommend that I cut the ends shorter? I'm assuming this might be what is keeping me from getting the expected flavor from this RTA. I'm using a Triade DNA 250 with a .80 SS317L coil @ 20 watts. JFC is open 2 1/2 turns. TC is set to 400F.

I vape mine with a fused clapton 2x26g core with 36g Claptoned around it.
Usually 3 wraps for a 0.25 ohm build.
I set the coil above the airhole just a tad higher than the screw heads.
I wick it with thick shoulder and fluff out the tails before I dip them in the juice well

I normally run mechs these days but, with the dna mods I set it to 65w preheat with a 10 punch for 0.3 seconds and 50w at 460°

Roger that
I use a similar build in my serpent mini, and honestly I find the flavor better in the kf5 but I find that to attributed to airflow and I use a slightly tighter driptip in it than I do in my serpent mini.

Hmm... I definitely need to find the sweet-spot with the V5. I also tried running the V5 without the AFC collar attached, and I'm really digging the results! I wish I could get the same air-flow with the collar attached.

Lol, I just sold all of my provape mods and replaced them with mechmods.
I had one of each model.

I will say this, I tried the k5 on about everything I've owned. I got the best results for my vape style with either the above or a single ss316l clapton 6 wraps at 3mm with 24/36 around 40-45w

For whatever reason the airflow just seems to be enough once you crank up power.
The kf4 needed that damned 4s kit and no more than 22w with a single round 24g build

I love the P3 Titanium! .7 coil @ 15 watts, and I'm good to go! I have a couple of Super-T mechs as well. Haven't used them in something like 4 years. I may clean them up and give em a go this week. I wish he would have offered an Aluminum version. Stainless is a poor conductor, so you have to keep them as clean as possible.

Roger that, I always wanted a gpaps, but never got around to it.
Lately I've been looking at parallel boxes and Pinoy tubes.
I typically run the k5 on a stingrayxti or overdose mod. But, obviously I don't try and mtl that one, it just wasn't built for low power. The kf3.1, mini v3 or k4 are more geared for mtl style.
Right now I'm using those exact setting on a kf3.1 the 0.7 ohm build at 17w on a DNA30. Yet, all day was a kennedy24 at 0.1 ohm on a parallel mech.

I never gave up the mtl for good

For sub-Ohm RDA, my favorite rig includes a 2 x coil Goon + Trinity Competition glass cap. High-flow and flavor fo yo ass! I'm so use to using it, that I'm comparing all other configurations to it.

That's more my daytime vape style
Either a flaghsip, subohm shorty or parallel box with a goon, Kennedy, petri, recoil or tugboat.for tanks either a kf5, serpent mini, engine or mage.
For mtl it's either a kf3.1mini 3, NaRda or cyclone

I picked up few new atomizers, but I haven't used them yet. I seem to be liking RTA's that hit closer to the coil/wick nest assembly. Seems I notice some "expansion" when hitting on high tower devices... e.g. Kayfun V5. It's as though the mixture expands in my lungs. That's the best way I can describe it. I need more air, I think?

The KF5 is one of the only tanks I've kept. I use an SS Clapton in it, 2.5mm id, 24g core wrapped with 30g on the outside. I use Kendo Gold to wick, and cut them pretty short. Just enough to touch the bottom of the wells. I also like to push them slightly away from 1 onf the wicking holes so that the juice flows a little more freely.

I switched over to Power Mode, removed the SS 316L (.8 Ohm) coil, and replaced it with a Kanthal A1 (1.45 Ohm) coil. I also used a thicker, longer wick, and stuffed the ends toward the center of the base. It's now wicking like mad, vapor and flavor are outstanding! From time to time, I do find some liquid at the base of the atomizer? I'm sure it's nothing serious, so I'll deal with that later. Again, the flavor is undeniable! :)
