She died in 2006? - before her time of cancer. Her music is Angelic - Perfect. She will envelope you. It is the first time I've seen her live.
And I have let her music calm me for years.

I dedicate this post #3 to all of her music. Amazingly angel. It caught my teenage son so off guard, he sat center stage to the speakers on my large sofa. Didn't move for over an hour. I bought him all the CD's she had made. And this young man didn't stop for anything. He was in Nirvana.

My favorite Classical is Piano and Violin. Debussy was my first thought. Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata as well.
For Violin, Vivaldi.

That was a cool performance, normally I don't listen to too much piano because people have a tendency to bang on the keys. That was a graceful piece. Never had the skill for playing, too much like walking and chewing gum at the same time lol. I'd be screwed if I had to read music two lines at a time. I listen to just about everything but have never attended pop concerts. Canadian Brass, Lionel Hampton, Maynard Ferguson, Johnny Mathis, Mannheim Steamroller, Diana Krall and a few others I've attended but nothing like Beyonce or anything.

Piano but a definite departure from classical lol.

This song ALWAYS chokes me up. It is SO beautiful.
The perfection of their voices and Charlotte's vocal range gives me chills.
I have 4 of Josh's CDs. No matter what language he sings, it's perfection.
Here is - "The Prayer"

ok I lied. This is the Crown Range Road South Island of New Zealand. It is the highest paved road in NZ and although you don't really see it in the video, it is ONE HELL of a scarey rd with huge drops. I have never driven more then 50km/h on this damn road (it's only 2 hrs from where I live). This guys is NUTS and it's great to this music.

Some of my favorites have to be swing and big band from around the war era. It was the music I was into the most when I played. Got lucky and wound up making friends with a kid who invited me to check out a youth jazz band. Played with them for a few years and it sure beat the hell out of crappy school music (jr high/high school). Our band leader was an ex studio musician and involved with miami sound machine, he treated us like studio musicians. If he thought you weren't giving 110% he'd flat tell you to pack your shit and go.

Stuff like splanky, lil' darlin, in the mood, shiny stockings. I pretty much blew off school band, maybe practiced a couple hrs a week for school. The other 10-12hrs a week was spent on the youth band with weekly rehearsals that lasted 4-5hrs on the weekends. Being that it was a local youth band and part of the local jazz fest we got to play several spots around town at various resorts and art galleries and when the annual jazz fest came around we opened the show. A couple of the shows we got a chance to be accompanied by some of the other talent that showed up. TS Monk played drums with us one year (Thelonius Monk's son), another time Diana Krall played piano with us. That was some 23, 24yrs ago, back before Krall married Elvis Costello and went multi platinum. Nice people, it was pretty epic getting to meet musicians. Well most were nice, Sonny Rollins was a rude jackass.

Man looking to see where some of these people are now just makes me feel old. I remember watching Doug Macleod and his blues band play there, now he's 70. lol. I'm sure I've lost most of my skill with a horn but who knows, maybe now that I'm vaping and not smoking and actually have a bit of lung capacity back it might be possible to pick it up again just for fun. Definitely wasn't an option as bad as smoking made me cough.

Sadly it looks like the festival had to move several places over the years and last year may have been its last. Kind of fitting I guess for a dying genre slowly fading out of the public in favor of more contemporary stuff. Anyway here's one our youth band used to play, always enjoyed the lyrics.

I've been listening to Country music for the last few weeks. I grew up on Country music since I was ankle high. Dad loves it. Maybe I needed to feel the comfort of it. Great voices & Great stories.
This is the first song I ever learned, by Daddy.

Eva died at a young age of cancer.
Never, have I had the pleasure of actually seeing her perform my favorite song. Close your eyes and listen.

If you have ever been in LOVE, this will resonate deeply within your soul if he or she is no longer with you.

I love the PRINCE movie PURPLE RAIN. His acting was amazing.
He came from a very dysfunctional family. Violent and broken. Mother got beaten and cheated on. Father was ill and an alcoholic.
It wasn't until that fatal day, the day he was to play the biggest gig of his life, did the lyrics of Purple Rain come from his lips. It was actually a song his father had written..among thousands that Prince had no knowledge of. Millions of penned songs. Prince was to go on stage in 48 hours.

The full movie is available on YouTube to ChromeCast. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS MOVIE.

Here is a short clip of the original song in the movie, after seeing...
This clip doesn't do the movie or song justice unless you see the movie.
He was up against the king of music that night.
Let me just say that it was amazing that he had the strength and courage to sing that night.

I've been playing guitar for quite some time. I discovered Mississippi John Hurt about 7 years ago and started alternate picking and country blues. Then 2 years ago I found about John Fahey. He's by far my favorite of this genre. I've found it hard to play but I enjoy the challenge. I can listen to this all day, and I do sometimes.

This is my favorite that I'm able to play. My wife just loves this song when I play it.

Okay, chills. Prince asked if they could make it rain harder. Amazing performance. You can skip to 5:00 for Purple Rain.
