Squonking and how to get started questions

Hi everyone,

I have been vaping since 2012. Since then I have evolved like I am sure most of us have. I am more of a dripper not for clouds but for flavor. My problem is no suitable way to drop and drive or quickly step out for a toot. I am considering squonking because I can prime the atty as I am driving or on my way to a smokers station. I work in technology so driving is a big part of my day and so is being confined to a smokers section. My questions are:
Will squonking help solve the convenience/ease of use problem I have?

If so where do I start?

Thanks
Matt

OH HELL YES!

While I have always known since I was a Wee Little Vaper that RDA's deliver the best possible flavors, all the constant fiddling and filling just did not fit my mobile lifestyle.

After all the conversation here about them, I decided to test the water and get a Kanger 80 Watt Dripbox 2 and it was love at first vape and got even better once I replaced the included RDA with a Velocity Mini and a Hadlay (sp?) I will never look back.

Squeezing your Squonker takes a bit of getting used to so I suggest you start using at home for at least a few hours before taking to the road as over Squonking can be a bit of a mess.

But it will come to you quite naturally with practice.

Whatever mod you end up with, I suggest that you get a couple of spare bottles as they do seem to wear out over time.

And by time I mean a few months of constant use.

I hopes this helps with your decision.

Other than that, I need to drive to my Eye Doc to pick up my new glasses squonking all the way!

It does help my decision. It also raises questions but simple ones.
You recommended the dripbox 2 and the velocity mini or halday. Would a wise decision be to jump right at replacing the atty or go with the kanger stock atty until I am proficient?

Juice types may also play a factor. I make my own and typically 70vg/30pg or thicker? Does this matter as with tanks or similar to drippers?

Squonking is a great idea - you'll probably love it.
Not enough info to recommend a device - do you want adjustable watts, or would you consider mechanical? How many watts do you vape now, and what kind of builds? Since you're dripping - what atties do you like and how much airflow.

I will say, almost ALL "kit" (mod with atty) rda's suck. You should drop an extra $10 to get at least a good clone bottom-feed rda too. But again, need to know how you vape to suggest which one.

Couldn't agree more ... once a sqounker youbwont go back but setup is the key.. the mod is a big part but the atty is the main thing to focus on look at reviews etc.. personally I've built a smok skyhook with a squonk pin that's perfect on the kangertech 160w

I vape between 45 and 70 depending on time of day. .5 to .8 ohm standard single wire micro coils. Sometimes I use prepare Clapton wire but not a huge fan. Restricted direct lung to moderate airflow.

Others chime in - I'm all mechs!
But there are a few regulated squonkers, more every week if you're OK with china...
I do have an 80 watt Wraith - it's not perfect, but it looks pretty bad-a__. :)
Someone had them cheap last week too...

For squonk atties, you could look at Hadaly, or for a bit more air, I like the Goon, and lately, loving my Gorge...

Goon is great but found the screws on the lost art clone to be rubbish so if possible and you can afford it go for the real deal...

The goon does not appear to be a bottom feeder atomizer. Am I missing something? I am looking at the one made by 528.

Mod wise I don't recall whether you said you prefer a mech or mechanical

On the regulated side at the wattages you vape at a single battery might do you? If so in addition to the kangertech and wraith check out

I used the stock RDA that came with the Dripbox for about two weeks and I did enjoy it. It is also easy to rebuild the replaceable coil head.

Learning to Sqounk with the stock set up is a good idea while you decide what your next BF Rda will be and possibly wait until it is delivered from China.

With regards to bottom feeding attys if you like a restricted draw and use smaller coils I would say the goon isn't for you

What about a single coil?

Narda (clone)
O atty
Hadaly

Quoted the wrong person, was supposed to be @Train

I've been trying to locate a wraith, but no luck. Don't suppose wherever you ordered from still has any?

FIY - in keeping with post #4, the included attie on the Wraith also blows, lol

Hmm.. perhaps I should look into squonking.. I've been wanting to get a good cloud chucking RDA but don't like to drip and drive. So I've been thinking about getting an RTA but maybe a squonker is a better idea..

Thanks to @SnapDragon NY I have a kanger drip box 80 on the way. Yes the rda may not be the best but it's a start. So my next question is it gets here I fill it then... can you guys give me tips tricks and things to look out for? You guys are awesome and if anyone here has a squonk rda that is good but they want to part with message me.

Just take your time in learning to squonk the bottle so you don't overflow the attie or drown your wick

Squonking is great for driving

Some sell the goon with a squonk pin and some don't but there are plenty of sellers on eBay selling the squonk pin.. great as a squonk. lift the coils slightly for a smoother vape.. I got the lost art version but the screws are crap and the threads worn pretty quick but I am a little heavy handed

Ok so got the kanger drip box and even tho the esa may not be the best it's fairly on par with the dripper I have for the most part. I only have one issue so far and that is eliquid dripping around the bottle. Am I doing something wrong or is this a kanger flaw.

It should not be leaking anywhere

Is it coming out from the top, or is there a crack in the bottle?

I would clean the juice out and try reinstalling the bottle

If it still leaks, use the spare bottle included

It seems to be coming from the top down. I wasn't sure if I over squonked and it comes down the bottle or something. I will clean it again and check for cracks

Wow- I had no leaking with the bottle- maybe try the spare?
I pushed the plunger onto the bottle before pushing it up into place.

I like the rda that came with it for now until I get used to squonking. I discovered the leak and everyone can laugh, I must have held the squonk too tight too long and there was a little trail down the mod to the bottle.

The other bottle in that box was never used- the one on the mod was used 2 times- yes very easy to over do it! It came out from the RDA when I 1st used it! Way too much squonk. But the bottle stayed dry. I gotta find the video of how and why it worked for me and why I didn't like using it!

This takes some getting used to. I forgot to squonk literally forgot it was a dripper so to speak and not a tank. Lol oops now I have a build to rewick. Lol I'm getting there tho. I have to say the rda isn't perfect but it does deliver a satisfying vape.

I did the same when I first started ! :)

Except I was used to dripping and was soft pressing the squonk bottle thinking I got same amount out as dripping

I have been just going along and not realizing what I'm doing because my bottle is sitting on the top of the desk. I guess habit told me I had a tank when it got a little dry then.... oh God don't inhale lmao.

So I see the wraith for $30 online brand new. How does that compare to the drip box?

The only issue I've had with the Wraith - and I got in on the pre-order before they were officially released - is the door for the battery on the bottom can come lose if you use the LG batteries, which are just a hair longer than Samsung and Sony.

How is the rda on it

Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

Acceptable if you like airy/direct lung, but far from great. You can taste off it, but its muted. Gets a weird turbulence thing going over the honeycombing at the base of its...Drip tip/cap/thingy? I dunno what to consider the clunky thing, tbh, and I haven't figured out a way to replace it or remove the issue. Husband has been the main user and stuck another RDA on it pretty quick.

Looks cool on the mod though, so its got that going for it? xD

Hmmmm sound like $30 is a solid purchase for the mod then but need to look for a different rda.

I plan on buying another one in straight black for the husband so I can get my pretty white one back, so yeah, I can't say its a bad purchase for $30+shipping, even accounting for another $25 or so for a different RDA (going off the price I paid for our Vandy Vape guys, you can, of course, spend far more if youre so inclined, lol. Just saying even at the closer to $60 I ended up spending on the Wraith+Icon my husbands using, it's a really nice set up)

Can anyone recommend a good dual Battery squonking kit? I've seen the Dripbox 160. Is that one any good or is there a better one?

I have the drip box the mod it's self is good the rda isn't.. I got it for the temp control and the dual battery as I tend to chain vape for the cash it's a decent buy. Extra bottle handy as well and comes with a stopper so can switch when out and about if you run out... I like high watts as well as my builds draw about 70watts

Sorry, I was offline for a while but I wanted to get back to this and thank you for your response. So sounds like the drip box is a good mod. I'm looking for dual battery for the same reasons as you. I usually vape between 80 and 120 watts and a single battery either can't handle it or won't last the day on a single charge.

As far as cost, I'd like to keep it under $120 but I'm mostly interested in finding out what is out there in dual battery squonking mods that people have had good experiences with. So if anyone else has a mod to add, I'd love to hear about it.
