Anyone clean coils?

Does anyone really clean coils? Is it really necessary? If so, what's the best way of doing it? I've watched several YouTube videos on that, but I don't want to screw anything up and damage anything.
I know that I ask a lot of questions, but I'm just trying to get as much info about vaping that I can without screwing things up. I have had so very much help on here with awesome advice! I welcome any and all info I can get. After all, there's only so much you can trust on YouTube.

I don't think my coils are dirty ( at least not that I know of) and I don't build my coils either. I was just curious. I've seen so many YouTube vids and I just want to make sure I don't do something I shouldn't. Or is it just easier to buy new ones.

Remove cotton (or whatever wicking is in there), fire the mod till the coils stop smoking and hissing, brush off with a soft brush (I use a kiddie toothbrush), re-wick with fresh cotton. And your done.

IMO - get new ones. If you are like a lot of us and don't want to keep dumping money for coils start building. It really isn't that hard and probably quicker than cleaning your coils.

I believe the OP is asking about factory coils. I know some of them can be rebuilt, but I think OP just means rinsing or soaking.

I tried soaking one in vodka once. Came out looking and tasting close to new. I got another week out of it, but it just didn't seem worth it.

I used to save one or 2 before making my own, but from things I've read, you can run them under hot water, soak them in vodka.... bunch of stuff. I'd say as long as they aren't burnt, hot water smoking is good enough. Good enough for emergencies, that's all.

Was way more doable when we were using silica wicks, but with all the factory coils now being cotton, just more realistic to toss them. I got too tired of all that, and too pricey. Building is much easier, much more economical. You don't have to get super fancy with builds. I sure don't, and I'm really happy with flavor and production.

I boil coils for the Subtank Mini. Baby Beast and Atlantis. Anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes usually does the trick. I've had Kanger coils go three and four times through and still come out working great. Eventually, the cotton gives out (just like that old ZZ Top concert T-shirt did), but getting another three to four weeks out of a $1 coil is cheap. Not much labor involved, either. Start the water and drop'em in.

I build like a champ for my Griffins and Kayfuns, but with cheap factory coils for my out-and-about tanks lasting like they do these days, I just store the RBA decks from the tank kits.
