Wismec RX200 510 FIX.. Super simple

So, I was reluctant to sway from my 2 brands that have the best history and bought a Wismec rx200s (I assumed they had fixed the crappy 510 issue, cuz it was an upgrade.. Well, I had it 2 days, and sometimes, it would not fire.. no errors on the screen or anything.. and I read a Wismec rep's email response to complaints about the problem, and the basicly said, you need to use THEIR tanks!!!! They said the male 510's on some tanks are too long... LOL... So, I got out my calipers and did some measuring.. the female 510 on my rx200s is 4.90mm, while all my tanks are 5 to 6mm..
So, I got a o-ring, about 12mm wide, and 0.7mm thick, and put it between the tank and the rx200s..
So far, no issues.. I think I fixed that problem.. now, lets see what screws up next....

I KNEW I should have stuck with my tried and true brands.....

Biggest reason I bought the 200s was the screen... I LOVE the large screen.. and I dont have to turn the devise sideways to read it...

Cheers... The Kwazy Wabbit.....

You're "measuring" 2 different things... (neither of which is correct btw)

Using a caliper to check the mod, you are checking the thread "minor".
Using a caliper to check the tank, you are checking the thread "major".
These mean very little and have almost nothing to do with how threads are correctly measured.

Threads are measured by their "pitch" diameter. This is fairly complex math but as far as a tool to measure it is concerned,
the only way to measure the diameter of 510 threads on a mod correctly is with a Go/No Go gage.

And to do it on a tank would require a micrometer and 3 calibrated (expensive, insanely thin) wires....
or a Go/No Go gage set.

Yer lookin at about 800 bucks for the gage set to check your 510s accurately.
Will that be cash??? :)

The OP was not measuring the diameter of the threads, but how deep the 510 connector on the mod is from top to bottom, and how far the 510 pin protrudes from the bottom of the tanks.

Yes.. I know there are different size threads, I was simply measuring length and depth. I think I would be able to tell if the threads were different from the way it screws in, and just looking at them with a magnifier ... It's my understanding (may be totally wrong) that what happens is the female 510 on the Wismec is not deep enough, and the male end of your tank pushes the female spring pin connector all the way in.. creating a 'no contact' on the board. I havent had this thing apart, so I dont know what is happening when the pin goes down too far. And the 510 on this guy looks pretty much the same as all my other mods... :)

Have you tried a thin Delrin spacer?

My Reload tank does the same thing on my Hohmwrecker G2 so I had to cut a spacer to go under the tank. As long as I use that, it does just fine. All my other tanks and my rda works fine without it. Ah...it's a mystery fer sure. :)

I suppose if the male 510 is too long, the female pin may get stuck and not pop back out... Hmmmm, why did that sound dirty???!!!! LOL ;)
