Hi Folks,

I will convey my thoughts and do my very best to provide you with enough information so you can reach your own conclusion on the product, so no recommendations from me, just a final conclusion on my personal experience with it. Please ask questions in the below if I've missed anything you want to know

Looks & Initial Impressions

Styling is simple no frills it’s not going to win any awards much like the TFV8 beast tank in my opinion. You can clearly see the Beast is the competitor the Blaster is going up against. Side by side they are almost identical in height.

IMG_1510.JPG

Even the stock drip tip is identical to the beasts in terms of height and width although it has a thicker inner diameter and forms part of the top cap unlike the beast. I actually find the Beast drip tip a lot more comfy however the Maganus does offer a 510 adapter which I chose to use.

IMG_1524.JPG

I do like the fact you get so much included in the kit, big thumbs up to Vapeston on this. The pre made coils are excellent quality, no mucking about having to sort dodgy seals, or wires sticking out where they shouldn’t be! Vapeston kindly packs the coils into their own tubes so they don’t pick up the flavour from the foam or whatever else they sit in when in the box.

It’s a nice feature that each coil chamber is individually wicked and they have an interesting design to work with the top airflow. The air moves outside down the edges and around through the centres of the coil and back up.

IMG_1521.JPGIMG_1519.JPG IMG_1520.JPG

The RBA deck looks interesting although quite how that will work on a top flow atomiser we’ll have to see as there is no bottom or side flow for it.

Replacement coils don’t come in a pack you do need to buy them individually, at least from what I’ve found so far. They are about same price as Smok’s (maybe a little more) and they are a little trickier to get hold of.

Build Quality

Very similar to Smok’s TFV8 Cloud Beast in terms of its construction quality. So if you’re familiar with that you know what to expect here. Paint is anodised, and machining is overall very good.

Threading is very good. Despite the top cap being plastic, which I’m not a fan of, it works on the Blaster as it does get hot when vaping! None of that heat is transferred to me though while vaping, although I would like to have seen metal threading inside it for longevity.

Positive pin sits proud at the base, no connection issues while using this regardless of coil or RBA deck.

Paint job stood up to ultrasonic cleaning as did all of the other bits.

Features

Tank Breaks down into 6 parts with the RBA deck (or 4 when not using it) for cleaning and maintenance.

IMG_1292.JPG

The Airflow Control (AFC) is very easy to adjust probably slides a little too easily truth be told but there is a stop which I always welcome instead of free turning. This also helps when you come to disassemble the tank. At first I thought it was nasty but the more I’ve used the blaster the more I’ve come to really enjoy it. Combined with the pre made coils it offers the perfect vape feedback fully open (for the 0.15 coil at higher wattages) or restricted (on the 0.2 coils)

For refilling you do have to unscrew the top cap, it never seizes and there is more than enough grip to remove it. The refill holes are fairly decent in size to accommodate most refill bottles.

It doesn’t leak! Except when keeping the AFC shut for refilling the RBA deck. Unfortunately I found this out the hard way! So best to refill this with AFC open at all times.

In terms of how I went about wicking the RBA I'll go over this in a follow up in the meantime here's a taster!

Pre Made Coil Report

Tested Conditions
  • Using 75% VG using my normal flavour I always try for new products.
  • Used Sony VTC5a batteries
  • Tested on the H-priv
  • Warmed coils up before taking notes at each stage
  • I always pin a hole or two in my pre made coils helps with wicking

X3 Coil 0.2 ohm
Rated 50 W-180W, Best Between 70W-120W according to the manufacturer

Tested with my AFC open a quarter
  • 70 – Wispy Cloud, lacking in the flavour department even with airflow restricted, cool vape
  • 80 - Better Vapour, same as 70 otherwise, cool to warm vape
  • 90 – Flavour all of a sudden woke up! Big Jump up more so on the restricted front, warm vape
  • 100 - Decent clouds, Flavour really coming through both fully open and restricted, warm vape
  • 110 - Flavour peaked here, vape getting pretty hot now uncomfortably so for me
  • 120 – same as 110 but hotter version
  • 130 – Even more flavour but Christ my lungs are dying
  • 140 - and I’m spent …burnt hit
I settled on 95w as it had the best balance of flavour, vape temperature especially with a slightly restricted lung hit. It didn’t do the 180w as specified. Most notably this coil just won’t die it’s been going for a month I’ve chucked ever flavour you can think of!

X3 Coil 0.3 ohm

Rated 50W - 260W, best between 90W-180W according to the manufacturer.

Tested with AFC open half way
  • 80 - Nothing happening, cool vape
  • 90 - Flavour picked up a little not much happening restricted or otherwise, cool vape
  • 100 - Same as 90 bit more cloud, Warmish vape
  • 110 - Slightly better Flavour, otherwise same as 100
  • 120 - Flavour kicking in now as is cloud production, warm vape for me
  • 130 - Improvement on flavour, otherwise same as 120
  • 140 - Flavour on point here otherwise same as 130
  • 150 - Now becoming hot so having to use shorter pulls, flavour still improving though!
  • 160 - Sweet flavour notes coming through but it’s hot now had to open AFC wide open
  • 170 – No noticeable difference to 160 except for my lungs crying
  • 180 – Flavour is still getting better but I’m struggling with the temp!
  • 190 – unbelievably flavour still improving but I’m getting the sweats and everything
  • 220 – Ok my mod maxes here had to use micro pulls, but still didn’t get a burnt hit, the tank is like a nuclear reactor by now! I could actually cook something on it, no idea how people vape this high!

Settled on 143W for this coil it had best balance of flavour, temperature and cloud for me. It did surprisingly well above the recommended range which is unusual for these types of coils. Again the coil is still going but I reckon it’ll have a shorter life span with the temps I’m going to be pushing through it.

How's the Vape?

Out of the two pre made coils I much preferred the 0.2

a) Because I prefer dual battery mods so high wattages aren’t a good thing for me I normally vape max of 120w on anything I use going above that just to get a decent vape is not my thing.

b) It had better flavour than the 0.15 through its best wattage range

c) Its coil life is exceptional

The flavour on the blaster I would say is actually marginally better than the Beast tank but with less cloud production although I did use a 510 drip tip the whole time

There is no annoying whistling on the inhale; it’s a smooth satisfying vape

The RBA deck is a tricky one – Wicking wise it’s just like the Augvape Boreas deck, which once you get the hang of it is easy as you like, just treat it like an RBA and pack that cotton under the coils. However the vape can be a bit lacklustre until you put loads of wattage through it, but I will say one thing or try to describe it anyway;

you know when you first wick a coil and apply juice, If you heat it up with the cap off and happen to breath in that vapour it makes you cough right!. Well that’s what’s going on here because the air isn’t able to get under and around the coil. With my wicking technique I was able to vape this without spitting and it was a decent vape but at times it did make me cough where the air mix isnt great.

I did notice the base of the Atomiser gets really hot when vaping, making your whole mod feel hot. I thought at first my batteries were venting or something but it’s actually the base. Some form of thermal disk between the mod and base is definitely needed.

The Atty doesn’t drink particularly fast considering the power I put through the coil. I always felt like the tank was going on for ages before a refill was needed, something I never got from the beast

Things I Feel Could Be Improved
  1. I would like to have seen an ultem disc included in the kit to place between the base and the mod
  2. Place metal threading inside the top cap
  3. Stiffen up the AFC movement slightly
  4. Allow me to run my own wide bore drip tip the one provided wasn’t comfortable
  5. Improve design of the RBA to allow airflow around the coil

Things I Feel It Does Well
  1. Doesn't leak
  2. Cheap price point
  3. Coil life was exceptional (it just won’t die!)
  4. Never once had a problem with wicking
  5. Lots of extras included within the kit
  6. Decent flavour for the low sub ohm tanks especially top airflow
  7. Not as thirsty as the beast
Final Conclusion

I very much see this tank as a knock about tank, car journeys where leaking is a concern, or days out. The capacity is decent, juice seems to last for ages. Coils go on and on. Price is really good so all things considered I definitely think this is a contender against the Beast, I’ve enjoyed it more than the beast personally. If they can just do something on the coil availability I’ll be happy.

My wicking guide for the RBA

I treated building on the RBA like the Augvape Boreas deck as they are really similar. So if you are familiar with the one skip past this bit! ...

1) First I did use the Stock Coils, but they are far too big for this deck at 3.5mm. So tightened them up to 2.5 mm diameter using my coil master tool and added an extra wrap or two in the process

IMG_1293.JPG IMG_1315.JPG

2) Insert and position the coils where top of the coil is just below top coil hole

IMG_1319.JPG

3) I tightened the legs so coil was touching the posts then pulled them out so that the centre of the coil was in line with wicking holes ...this avoids coil touching the RBA deck housing)

IMG_1320.JPG

4) I always roll my wicks using the “Scottish roll” method (google this for the guy who came up with it. It’s a game changer and works in every atomiser). I use cotton bacon v2 for my wicking material. First insert the cotton and pull through the coils. It shouldn’t be overly tight that it’s pulling them out of shape or position. One through move back and forth a few time for them to settle in.

5) I cut my wicks to the length shown below. In terms of cutting to the right length you are trying to form a bed of cotton over the holes so I measured by folding the ends in half so they each reach half way under the coil.

IMG_1325.JPG

6) Raked and fluffed up the ends, cutting away the excess to tidy them up maintaining a straight cut.

IMG_1326.JPG

7) Gently fold the cotton under the coil (don't push it under) ensure there is a gap under the coil and that a bit of cotton is slightly pushing out of the holes so you know there is a seal there.

IMG_1327.JPG

8) Juice it up then check there's still gap underneath the coil as the cotton will expand.

9) When it comes to refilling leave the AFC open to avoid flooding

Love the attention to detail and I agree, the RBA section can be tricky.

Real thorough review, thanks man

Thanks mate :) The RBA deck is tricky for sure mess it up your gonna have a bad day get it right and it's a decent vape for an RBA just wish they had designed it to get airflow around the coil somehow bollocks forgot to mention that lol

Done it's in there!

Great review, KP! I really had a hard time with the RBA deck and found it too soupy a vape for me. I will have to try it again with a different wicking method.

Thanks Mark I agree this RBA is not for everyone for sure :) I was fortunate not to suffer with the soupy vape you got. SRR did mention about putting wicking through the holes instead of making a bed like I did might be something to look into as well ;)

Thanks for the tips guys. I'll try it again later. One other thing is I'll try cotton next time as I think my rayon wicks too well for this RBA.

Good call mark I always use cotton bacon at the moment zero break in time fluffy out the pack, no peeling of layers simply tear a bit off stretch it out roll it up and your away :)

How do you guys prime these things? I’ve had the MCB for about 6 months and absolutely LOVE the tank. Doesn’t leak, flavor is amazing but I’ve always had one major problem...I can NEVER get more than 7-10 days out of a coil! So my question is, how do you guys prime/break these coils in properly to get them to last a month?! Also, these coils are impossible to find right now and I just primed and threw my last one in (0.20 OHM) today! Any help would be GREATLY appreciated guys and/or girls!

pin each of the cotton section first a few times ...dip the sucker in juice and wrap it in cling film...let it sit for a few hours getting all absorbed up. I used to do this with my beast coils as well, when the current one started to taste off I’d prime the next by completely saturating it then let it sit in cling film overnight

Clean it of a little so it can have a tight seal then install .... start lowest wattage rating of the 0.2 coil and work up in 5 to 10W increments to your target setting....don’t move to the next stage until you see bubbles appearing at each stage.

Break her in gently and you should be seeing better life from it ...obviously if you are using super sweet pre made juice your going to see shorter life on any coil... but there was a few people reporting long coil life from these. To this day I’ve never found a coil that’s outdone the cloud blaster on lifespan so far

I’ll have to try that when I can locate some more coils! I thank you immensely sir! 99% of the time I use the BURST line (Mango Burst, Melon Bust, Strawburst etc.) I believe it’s 70/30 mix, it’s 3mg nic level most of the time, sometimes 0 as well. I’m on day 5 of my last 0.2 coil and it’s still pretty clean. Normally around day 7 or 8 the cotton starts to get dark and I start losing flavor.
