Smok Coils Baby Beast Breaking the Bank!!!

Hello everyone, I'm having issues with coil longevity here... I've stared vaping and bought an Alien. Never smoked again. Awesome, but...
Baby beast coils won't last me more than 3 days! Yes, I vape a lot, 3 mg.
I do prime the coils, take dry puffs to wick, let it sit, increase wattage gradually, etc etc...
Still, I've tried all coils and liked the X4 the best. But I'm spending too much on coils.
Any tips on prolonging coil life? I'm running out of wits end here. Thanks!

Get the Baby Beast RBA deck. You'll save a ton of money. If you aren't comfortable with the thought of building your own coils for it, you can purchase pre-made coils and still save a crapton of money.

Agreed!
I'm not familiar with the BB but when pre made coils are burning out this fast its usually because they cannot cope with the wattage your throwing at them, or that they simply are not very good quality coils. Also I found that thicker juices can often disagree with certain brands of coil and struggle to wick. Many modern pre built coils have their ideal wattage range printed on the side. Also ensure that your buying genuine coils. On average a pre built coil can last around two weeks when used moderately and within its capacity.
Ideally you want to be building your own coils for the best experience with your alien. Grab yourself a bag of cotton bacon and a spool of 32/26 clapton wire and make your own coils. That will save you money straight away. When building your own coils you can rewick several times before needing to replace the coil itself, saving even more money since the wick is usually the source of the problem and not the coil itself.
Like @Khassy said grab an RBA deck for your BB or pick up a simple single coil RTA and your Alien will love you.

By chance are you using multiple flavors? Using a single flavor with your tank will give you better flavor and longer coil life. If using multiple flavors it would be ideal to have a tank for each one. You can muddy up a coil fast by putting different flavors in your tank.

IMHO Smok coils taste like hell anyway. Learn how to build. Learning on those little rba decks can be frustrating for newbies so invest in a good rdta or rta. Trust me youll never go back!

I have the TFV12, coil seems to last me 2 weeks. I vape maybe 10-12ml/day in that tank. Maybe 20-25 ML a day total. I buy them by the 3 pack from abroad every couple of weeks. Herakles is my other tank and the Kangertech mini. I am experimenting with DIY juice, coils will be next

This helps. I also got only 3 days out of a coil (X4's) swapping flavours all the time. Vaping only 1 on the same coil doubled the life span which is still very short imo. Only vaping 7-8 ml a day but all sweet juices which is probably why they only last that long.

I vape between 30-60 ml thru my Subtank Mini using the RBA per wicking.
around 1-2 weeks....
Costs maybe .02 to rewick....

Vape maybe 100 ml or so thru my Dripbox 160 setup on a wicking....

So I went back to the vape shop and opened both my coils. The cotton was in pristine condition at the top and bottom, but both wires burned in the middle.

The sweeter the juice, the faster it will gunk up.
Yes, but I love the sweetness!

And it's actually not the cost that's bothering me the most but the limited time of optimal flavour during the life span of 1 coil. First it needs breaking in time, then some good vaping shortly after followed by the decline which sucks.
So I ordered myself a RDA.

I do, too. That's why RDA/RTAs are essential. Just take out the used cotton, dry burn the coils, rewick and you're ready to go. Takes me less than 10 minutes, usually more like 5.

I still wanna get a big baby beast for myself. Hopefully I don't hate it.. I was thinking about maybe using it only on weekends A) if it guzzles the juice B) Coil life sucks lol ..I like my current Smok tank apparently the baby beast family is an upgraded version of what I already own. The coils I use last 5-7ish days and thats all day everyday use and I vape sweets.

And how often do you have to rewick vaping sweet juice? The life span of the cotton is probably even shorter in comparison to factory coils? I mean in number of ml used.

I rewick my squonk attys at around 100 ml.
My Subtank Mini V2 RBA deck at around 40 or so not as sure on it. I just rewick when it shows it needs it usually around 2 weeks.

And I vape sweet custards most of the time.

Same as Cromwell. If I don't change the cotton until it's gunky, I go a pretty good while. At least 100ml, minimum. I usually change the cotton before it gets bad, though. Mostly just because I like messing with them, and cotton is dirt cheap. :D

I coil and wick tanks for my sons, too. Never have to do theirs more than once a month. This is the cotton I use. Like I said, dirt cheap and will last almost forever. :D
Yep a couple of years worth of cotton for just a bit over the cost of one beast coil.
A years worth of wire costs about the same as one beast coil too.
Or you can buy prebuilt coils but cost more than just wire.

I kind of like messing with coils and wicks...at least I think I do. I'm constantly doing it.

I have one recipe I vape almost every day that has Cinnamon Danish Swirl v1 in it. I have to change the wick every third day as it gets that nasty brown/black color and the flavor diminishes quite a bit. There is no sweetener in the recipe either.

I have a recipe I make a lot that has Cinnamon Danish Swirl V1, Vanilla custard V1 and Vanilla Whipped cream in it PLUS liquid Stevia sweetener.

My regular ADV custard also has Liquid stevia in it.

I cannot tolerate any artificial sweeteners.

Damn, that reminds me I bought some Stevia and forgot about it.

The Baby Beast drinks juice with stock coils. I wonder if with an RBA it would guzzle juice. I love sweet juices, unfortunately. Rebuilding will hopefully be economical in the long run.

I run the X4 Quad coils in my Baby Beast at 27.5 Watts maximum and get 8K to 10K puffs out of them. Some question me on how I get any vapor at all but with High or MAX VG I get clouds you can call Cumulus in my opinion.

One thing I might note is I take long full hits and average 7-8 seconds per pull I don't want a big hot hit in 2 seconds.

I use mine at 40, 45 watts. But I vape a lot lol
Never paid attention to how long my hits last, I've just noticed 3 to 5 secs max

I chain vape from the time I open my eyes until I close them again and it doesn't matter if I am using TC or Wattage mode.

That's sick. I got 1.2K puffs (around 2.5 secs) out of my last X4 coil at 50W, lol. Sweet juice that is.
I tried at 28W but don't get any flavour. I just quit smoking so 7-8 secs hits is still a no go for me. I got to 5 secs with the airflow half closed and my lungs were about to explode.:)

As everyone has said I'd go down the RBA route, they are very expensive coils.
I mean I get 4 weeks out of my NautilusX coils & that's why I rotate my tanks but always end up going back to my Nautilus mini or using a Kayfun RTA.
MTL keeps me off smokes, I love my big baby but it's a hassle filling all the time!

I have the A/F wide open and use High or Max VG regularly. currently close to 4K puffs on the coil in it now.

I vape the Q2 at 50 watts & get 4 weeks out of a coil in my rotation. If I was to use the baby beast and that tank only I'd get 2 weeks. 3 days doesn't sound good at all, nicotine strength vg an pg do have to be considered but still you should get a week.
I know someone who vapes the BB at 100w+ an gets a week.
Perhaps you have a bad batch of coils, every provider has them every now an then!

70/30 VG/PG, 3 mg but I usually don't rotate tanks. I just bought the Rba for the Baby Beast, let's see how it goes with it. I'm on my third 5 coil pack, after having tried all the different coils for the Baby Beast.

RBAS tend to last longer, granted I've only used 3 different RBAS but I've always found them to be more cost effective than factory coils :)

Exactly & that's why when teenagers in vape shops laugh at me for using a nautilus mini I say that I'm the one saving money on juice an coils. I don't follow the latest fashion of 300 watt cloud beast vaping.
Yep I can vape my fav STM RBA build at 17.5 watts for 2 weeks or I can vape it for 3 days at 20 watts.
Higher wattage coils are the same just slide the scale up.

Exactly it's like I'll get two or three weeks out of a baby beast coil or someone will vape it at 100+ watts an complain their coils are lasting a couple days. Think they bring it on their self lol!
