I so envy people who can kiss and nuzzle their kitties. I'm glad I finally get to have a cat, and even touch and pick her up.... but I have to wash my hands after, and just the thought of putting my face to cat hair makes my face itch! If I sometimes get a stray cat hair in my eyes... AAAAARGHHHHH! It's like itching powder followed by an acid bath! The Zyrtec removes about 99% of my allergy symptoms... but that 1% it doesn't, is still a total bitch. :mad:

I am so glad I am not you, Andria. With four cats in the house and another 7-12 (depends on time of year) who live in the garage, I have cats on me a lot, and most of them (except all but a few of the ferals) want serious lovin'... hugs, kisses, belly scritches, and more pets than Joe Average's muscles can handle. I wouldn't know what to do without my daily kitty snuggles.

When I was a kid, I'd come in, 2-3 times a week, with swollen, tearing, itching, red eyes, begging my mom for Dimetapp. She'd say "You been playing with cats again?" I'd have to nod miserably. She'd say "Well STOP IT!" So I finally had to accept, admire them from a distance all you want, but DON'T TOUCH! and a cat owner's house? 5 minutes TOPS. So 24-hr Zyrtec is a blessing, a dream come true.... but the allergy lets me know now and then, it hasn't gone anywhere. And I sometimes wonder if the dishydrotic eczema that started appearing on my hands about a year ago is my immune system being determined to make itself felt, using the 24-hr antihistamine every day as I do, and having daily contact with a cat.
