I've set aside my triade 200 as my build mod. Allows me to also check tc. And it is always set at 20W.

Haha. I use it for comparison too. When I get an new mod I can see if the wattage and tc is accurate compared to the Triade. Otherwise I have no use for it as I don't like triple 18650 mods.

You will run into assholes who say you are spreading disinformation when you say never glow your SS coils red.

lol.. I know it.. you really only need to see if the current is flowing evenly.. that doesn't take much current .. :)

I use a mech as a build stand and coil burnner....... I get the wattage the battery provides.... my finger regulates how much that wattage heats the coil....
I've dry burned many a coil at 80 watts never had one pop.....without a tool or stray bit of wire being to blame.

Wattage isn't the issue here. Lack of fine motor control IS.

One reason why I stick to Kanthal A1 or Nichrome80 (or the combination of both) for my advanced coil builds is I just don't like having to throw them away after using them for only about a day or 3. I rinse, then dry burn my coils till they glow orange, and in fact I repeat this process a few times before I let them cool down and start to re-wick them so it would just be impossible to do this with SS.

I use and still love A1 [not the sauce ;)] but I also love temp control on some of my higher end mods. I do dry burn and clean my SS, just not like A1. I do a very light pulse rinse and repeat. I use a little brush to help clean them

Like These:

Now they dont look like 100% new coils (like an A1 burn and dunk) as SS changes color. But they are better than they were before the cleaning.

It does allow me to get a little more life from them. The price is cheap enough now many will just toss SS and rebuild or toss in a prebuilt. But for those waiting to try / use them and not recoil every time they can be cleaned up to some degree.

SS is fine to pulse red (been doing it a long time), just don't go beyond that. SS releases toxic at it's melting point which is white. Hell I don't even heat Kanthal beyond red either.

Yes, I agree you can pulse them red. They just wear out WAY too fast for my liking... it would be fine if I could be happy with simple (parallel) round wire builds I guess, but personally I am not.
