Warranties

I was set on getting a Smok GX2/4 until someone made a thread asking if anyone had success using a Smok warranty and no one successfully received a warranty replacement product.
http://vapingunderground.com/threads/has-anyone-used-smok-warranty-service-successfully.320488/

I am creating this thread for feedback on vape gear manufacturers' warranty service. Which ones are the best and which ones are the worst or just share your own warranty experiences.

I am a smoker trying to switch to vaping but more information on warranty service quality is needed before I am comfortable buying anything.

I recently got lava box DNA 75 and it stopped working after a few days. I sent it back and they sent out the replacement the same day. Last week the replacement died on me so they just immediately sent one out. It's an issue with the board so I'm hoping the next one works.

At least they are working with you and sending replacements which is more than the poor woman and others from Smok got.

Thanks for sharing that since the DNA 75 is frequently recommended.

Volcano has always done right by me. Evolv also has done right by me.

On the otherhand, iJoy has screwed me over on customer service three times and it seems like I've got a lot of company. They are notorious for using the exact same BS responses and to my knowledge have not followed through with what they promised. I will not buy another iJoy Mod!

The Ijoy Asolo was so overhyped here two years ago when I was just reading and before I signed up. Once released, many members debunked Ijoy's claims about that mod. I didn't know that their customer service is just as bad but I would have guessed. Thanks for confirming.

Thank you for sharing positive experiences with Volcano and Evolv.

The best warranty is to have more than 1 mod and tank! Buy a few affordable mods and tanks so you can't use the excuse that "my only mod or tank broke so I had to buy cigarettes" Backups are important!
Many great sales on the way like Black Friday-Cyber Monday and XMas- New Years- you can find a few affordable mods and tanks and be able to quit your cigarettes!
I use mainly Asmodus mods- they are a US based company that does warranty work if you buy your mod from approved vendors- I have not had to use them for any warranty service as my mods work perfectly for months!
I have 3-Minikin V2, 2- Minikin V1.5 and the Silvanusa(stabwood)
Asmodus seems very responsive to their customers on their FB page, with some reporting on how well Asmodus handled their warranty claims.

I've dealt with iJoy on a defective tank. They said they'd ship me a new one. That was three months ago. They suck.

The problem with warranties lies in the vendor that sold you the device.

A vendor should never make the customer contact a Chinese manufacturer.

The whole reason I buy from a US vendor and pay a little more for a device is so if I have a problem with that device the US vendor will remedy the situation.

When shopping online it's very important to read a vendors warranties and returns policies before making a purchase.

With the era of the inexpensive China vaping device upon us you need to decide what is more important. The cheapest possible price or the best possible service.

Within six months to a year of the ijoy asolo being released it went from costing $139 to $19!

I bought a $19 one and it ended up being worth about $10 when it failed after 2 months:(

Buying more defective merchandise in the hope that something will work is not a warranty. It is the sunken cost fallacy.

At least you got it when it was $15 rather than $139 and you did get two months out of your disposable mod.

Very good advice - even the best devices may need a tweek at the wrong time, batteries drain faster than you planned, so many things can go wrong

Few make it having just one device - and gear is so much less expensive than it used to be

Recommending the sunken cost fallacy is never good advice even if it is probably the best advice that can be given short of either quitting nicotine or manufacturers making reliable and durable products.

You can order one of these entire kits in red or cyan right now for around $9 shipped

Joyetech eVic-VTC Mini Full Kit with TRON-S Atomizer
https://www.heavengifts.com/product/Joyetech-eVic-VTC-Mini-Full-Kit-with-TRON-S-Atomizer.html

It's coming from China so I wouldn't expect to see it for about 2 weeks but for around the price of a pack of cigarettes - problem solved.

I guess that depends on where you live. Florida averages $6.30 a pack and Maryland $7.75 a pack. New York City is the worst at $12.85 and Virginia the best at $5.15.

Here might be a shocker. Oregon at $5.69 and California at $5.89 aren't much higher. Who would have thought California of all places has nearly the cheapest cigs in the nation?

Add up the cost of all your packs of cigarettes over the last year- and where are all those packs now? In the garbage can! Add up the cost of all those packs of cigarettes that you have smoked in your life so far- it will blow your mind- and where are all those cigarettes now? In the garbage can!
Besides the health risks associated with cigarette smoking,Drs for asthma,bronchitis,cancer.-
Talk about waste of money!
Nothing lasts forever with mods and tanks and the reason is usually -user error, like you dropped it, or didn't make sure your coil was in properly and leaked eliquid inside your mod, accidently spilled water or dropped in water. Most warranties will only help when your device is DOA.
How long do your cell phones last? How many have you purchased? Technology improves also!
Do you vape? - Do you really want to quit cigarettes?
Go into your local Vape Shops and check out their merchandise, and ask about their warranty- they may actually have a pretty good one, some online vendors have warranties also- but trying to send back defective gear to China manufactures is just silly- do you send your China made cell phone back to the manufacturer- no- you deal with the B&M who sold you the phone.
The cost of ecigs are nothing to the amount of money and my health I wasted on over 30 years of cigarette smoking- many of have back ups as we are determined not to ever smoke cigarettes again! Also the FDA and States are looking to do away with all vaping- many of us stocked up for supplies, just in case that day ever comes!
Oh and by the way- I would never suggest the Smok GX2/4 as Starter gear( I am sure @SirRichardRear is not suggesting that this mod is starter gear) ask him what he suggests as starter gear- way too big and bulky, not something that will fit in your pocket easily or even comfortable to hold- this kind of set up would be your step up from say the Joyetech AIO or even the Joyetech eVic-VTC Mini Full Kit with TRON-S Atomizer

Good price to see if vaping is your thing!
Oh and these devices become your backup when you buy the Smok GX2/4.

I was only trying to make the rebuttal that $9 being the cost of a pack depends on where you live. Don't know how you got a desire to keep smoking from that.

The Sony Xperia Z Ultra I had lasted me four years and the Nexus 4 I am using as an emergency backup until I buy an LG V20 for Black Friday is five years old. Both Sony and LG replace their phones from the manufacturer not the vender. Ok, my husband bought extra drop insurance on both of our Sony phones and filed claims on both since I gave him my older phone so he could drop it again insured but LG not the vendor did replace my first Nexus 4. LG is offering a two year warranty on the new V30 and still one on the V20. Even warrantied phones have issues which is why I am going with the last flagship phone with removable batteries rather than a V30.

No, I never tried anything more than an Njoy Ecig which is why I am here. The Portland Oregon Area is full of overpriced hipster boutiques with poor selection so I'll be ordering online from a US vendor. Most likely, an authorized or reputable vendor selling on eBay at a discount like KMG-IMPORTS does with Smok products.

I'd did make several posts saying I realize that the GX2/4 is not for beginners and I am probably a fool to start out with that mod (don't need Anthony to tell me that) but doing so anyway to psych me into vaping. I would have done it but warranty issues are a deal breaker for me.

The Eleaf Pico everyone recommends can only take an atty up to 22mm which is the 2ml EU size. That is a big turnoff but perhaps not a deal breaker. I'll keep looking for single 18650 battery mods for now. There are others like the Snow Wolf I haven't fully checked out. Don't know how they are with warranty service though.

The link you sent me I already had in my cart but with $11 for shipping and $1.70 for the mod itself, I will probably just buy something for around $30 - $35 on eBay with free shipping.

There are some 22mm tanks that will hold more than 2mls of juice like the Tobeco Super tank mini which holds 4mls
The Aspire EVO tank comes in extended size to 4ml and there are other tanks that are 22mm that will hold more than 2mls of liquid!
I am not a fan of the Melo tank that usually comes with the Pico! Just buy the Pico only with the Tobeco Super tank !
The Pico now comes in the 25 which will hold a 25mm tank!
The Pico 25 would be a great starter mod along with the Tobeco Super Tank, comes in a 22mm and 25 mm size.
Going into a vape shop to look and feel and get some opinions- is free! Are they overpriced? That depends- sometimes I just don't want to wait for Vape mail( I just bought my 3rd Minikin V2 from a shop) or I want to see what something looks and feels like- with you being a beginner, they will help point out some gear and also eliquids- which in the beginning was a major battle of flavors that I liked!
With Ebay just make sure the seller gets good reviews, and I have had good luck with Ebay purchases.
My favorite setup is the Asmodus Minikin V2 dual battery mod with the Asvape Cobra Tank a great 24 mm tank that hold 3.8mls of liquid- vaping at 25w-35w.
Just remember that spares and back ups are important to keep you from using cigarettes as your back up plan- a couple of affordable kits, some spare glass and coils, just in case!
The Joyetech Penguin is a great all in one kit for the beginner- affordable, easy to use, vapes great, lightweight and that tank hold about 8mls of liquid.

I’m setting here vaping on a Pico, one of the most compact, inexpensive and reliable mods around, vaping a 22 mm doggystyle tank holding 3.5 ml and knowing that there are plenty of 22 mm tanks that hold 4 and 5 ml reading your opinionated but not very informed posts and grinning lol
