I need the best battery for single 18650 tube mod.

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum. I just got my first mech mod, I got a cartel copper mech mod and I have a twisted messes or a velocity v2 sitting on it. I've read a lot about batter safety but I'm ALL about pushing the limits and trusting my equipment. I'm just looking for the hardest hitting battery that will be the most stable for cloud competitions, or the best for cloud competitions. I've heard the vtc5 is good as well as the hb6 but no one I've seen has given a straight up answer for the best and hardest hitting battery. Battery life doesn't matter.

Why do you reccomend?
Mooch certified 30 amp battery.
Less voltage sag than most other batteries under load.

Here is Mooch's blog with all this battery test results and his recommended batteries.
https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/mooch.256958/

Mooch is the best and most trusted source of battery information in the world of vaping.

Trust Mooch never trust what a battery wrapper says.

There are NO 18650 batteries with over a 30 amp rating.
No matter what their wrapper may say.

And there are NO 18650 20 amp batteries with over 3000 mah capacity.

also learn to use tools like these.
http://www.ohmslawcalculator.com/ohms-law-calculator

And always keep your battery wraps in great shape.

also test each build in your atty on an ohm meter of some sort with the atty fully assembled.

Failure to follow these rules with a mech can cause you to 'blow yer face off' or at least make the news.

Especially since you mentioned cloud comps and such....

enjoy your vape but be safe.

Also never use any factory coil style atty on a Hybrid style mech.
There may be a few that is ok but better to be safe until you know exactly how to tell which ones.

Personally I prefer Samsung 25r or Sony vtc5a for my mechanical mods.

@cromwell gave you all the sources you need for battery research. Just make sure you buy from a good, respected source. I try and stick with liionwholesale.com. several others are out there, just my preferred source. Additionally, stay far far away from eBay or Amazon. The last thing you want is a clone battery or a rewrap.
Like Cromwell said, never use a subtank or replaceable coil atty on a hybrid top, never use an adjustable 510 on a hybrid and never use anything other than a protuding 510 on one.qqu42q.jpg

I've been lookin for a good illustration. Thx @f1r3b1rd. You're it.

Good luck. :)

p.s. Strictly SONY VTC5A's on <.25Ω. But the new HG6's are worth a look.

Naah not even going to check Moochs charts for that.
Well Mooch has said so himself in a video interview on YouTube. Just google for "mooch battery", click on Videos at the top of the search results page, and watch all of them... I've watched them all several times so I know I'm not mistaken. :D

Yep, Mooch is why I started going with Sony VTC5A's and have certainly not been disappointed.

IMO Sony VTC5A's are the best 18650 for Mech's, hell even for regulated for that matter.

For 26650's, it's the iJoy's and again thanks to Mooch, he's the battery deity.

Yep that's it. a bit harder hitting than the 5A.
Runs cooler than the HB6.

You loaded up on a good battery.

The HG's are a bargain. Use 'em in all the hi-cap variables, 5A's for the <.2's, 4's for the rest. But believe it or not I'm still using the original PAN's I used in eVic's n Sig's (<10A) 4 yrs back when I started. Those things never die! We should be able to have better, I think. It's possible.

Good luck. :)

Nobody has the Vapcell in stock yet anyway, but... just to be curious... how often during a contest do contestants have time to change out their battery in their mod? Because the VTC5A catches up on that Vapcell mighty quick.

Formal or informal? :D Good luck.

Scarce where I live.
Shops do have vape contests though.

I just compete with myself and lose o_O

do have a nice little weather system going in my room this morning though.

Yep parallels vape cooler.
A main reason why I like em.

Vape 3mm 24ga SS 8 wrap parallel in my Wasps.
Nice little cloud at 25 watts.
quite tasty and warm but not hot at all.

quite possibly the most efficient coil type.

No there's one better, I found. I didn't come up with it. I've posted Matty's config elsewhere on VU. I just wind them with tension. Was just writing about this…

full

Winding all with strain will suppress deformation which keeps them coherent contact coils. But more importantly it significantly aids rapid oxidation of alumina on Kanthal. Both these things markedly improve performance consistency and durability. And I tell ya C I am a lazy muther. I've got a shitload of these things accumulated in 4 yrs of research and I keep about 20 to 2 dz in op. Do't have time or inclination to tolerate a bad vape.

On oxidation, understand the above winds went thru various stages of oxidation color change to that final dull uniform gray. That's my target for hi-power (or durability)

Good luck. :)

Been seriously considering trying that again. Still can be wound with strain to advantage. Enjoy!

Good luck. :)
I just wrap mine using the little Coilmaster thingy.
Even works well with parallel coils.

think I paid maybe $7 for it at FT.
