BF Pin Length

Hi Guys n Gals,

Just curious as to what the general consensus is in regards to correct BF pin length.
I'm talking about how much sticks out into the deck. I understand the excess juice should be sucked back to the bottle?
From that I gather the pin should be flush or close to flush to the deck.

I ask as all my pins seem to stick up quite substantially inside the deck which can be problematic if there is too much juice and the mod gets tilted slightly.
The pins that came with my Druga, Peerless and the spares I bought for my 2 Goons all sit high in the deck.
Thinking of filing them down so they are just slightly above flush.

I have a Hadaly and a Wasp Nano on the way, curious to see how long they are.

Any and all comments welcome

This is what I've done numerous times - when it is possible

All my Goons were bought before 528 Customs started selling squonk pins so I bought FDV pins and filed them down. They all squonk and drain perfectly

Not all decks are created for squonking specifically, these often have wells on either side of the deck and raised insulators, etc. that make it nearly impossible to create drainage, like the Druga for instance

My authentic Hadalys drain perfectly with stock pins

Poor drainage is my pet peeve, lol

Have seen more and more of it as more and more RDAs are coming with ssquonk pins but the decks were not designed to drain at all

And recently, The Flave 22 came out with a stock pin that protrudes up and needs to be filed down to be flush with the deck

Thanks @JuicyLucy, appreciate the reply. I guess I’ll get to filing them down this week.
I’m thinking of spinning the pin in a drill and using a file. Is that an ok method?

Cheers.

Just be very careful to make sure the end you file is flush - and that you don't take off too much

I've had to do both ends on a few when using a FDV pin -

I just you a vice and a raspy file

Some use a dremel with the pin installed but not all atties will lend themselves to that method

I’m thinking aiming for just above flush might be my target.
My Hobo 2 sticks up a bunch... attie holds almost a ML. My chalice is below deck level and has to be squonker every couple draws. The Hobe will leak if laid down after squonking.... the chalice does not.

I don’t mind either to be honest if its a raised pin though I add a bit more cotton in the wicking so that it can absorb more

Out of the two though prefer a flush pin :)
