is this true about ejuice?

One thing I keep in mind.... Everything in moderation. Sure, I'm a heavy vaper since I just quit cigarettes and am already at 6mg ejuice. However, when I finally drop the nicotine to 0, I won't be "sucking a golf ball through a garden hose" anymore, and will have 0 enticements from nicotine.

By the way, quitting ***** was easier than cigarettes for me, until vaping! (true with any drug I've tried)
I'll surely take my chances on vaping, especially since the ingredients are clearly printed on the label. I DARE big tobacco to list theirs!

Vape your *** **** too!

I like sucking a golf ball thru a garden hose -- that's my standard for a MtL atty (it's a lot like, oh, I dunno...sucking fire thru a solid tube of tobacco?).

And yes to the vaping of *** ****. :) Seego Vhit Reload, marvelous invention. And yes, EVERYTHING was easier than quitting smoking, even straight cold turkey off booze, which was pretty fucking hard for quite a number of years. Until vaping came along and made quitting smoking a piece of cake.

I see you've been vaping for a while, nice! I'm very new to it but after smoking 20 years I'm at the point of having one every 2-3 days. I'm pretty much done with cigs after only 2 months of vaping, and for the first time, don't sit and look forward to one. I'd MUCH rather inhale a chocolate cookie vanilla shake than that gross, whatever kind of indescribable taste that cigarettes have! (and that shake I'm enjoying won't make me fat (I hope))!
Glad you got off the sauce, too! Addiction, of anything, is a medical condition in itself, usually caused by another medical condition. I'm happy if ANYONE can beat their arch nemesis. Congrats!!!

Yep, I agree; this strawberry & cream tastes LOADS better than any cigarette EVER -- and though I insisted on a vape that tasted somewhat like my VA Slim cigarettes when I first started, now tobacco vapes taste awful to me -- somewhat like the smell of laundry you've washed and then forgotten in the washer overnight, that "sour-ish" kind of smell... ICK. It only took about 4-5 months of vaping the Virginia flavor for me to remember, way back when I started smoking in 1975, how much I hated the taste of cigarettes... but I persisted anyway -- what price cool, when you're 14 yrs old? ;)

But thank you very much; back in July, I celebrated 3 yrs of smoke-free, and in August, I celebrated 25 yrs of sobriety -- and so did my husband, with whom, in July, I celebrated 30 yrs of wedded bliss. :) The 12-step groups often close by saying "It works if you work it!" With vaping, I guess it's "It works if you vape it!" :giggle:

I know it's the internet, but how can something like this be posted?
The main ingredients of e-liquids include nicotine, vegetable glycerin, propylene glycol, water, and flavorings. When heated, some of these compounds produce toxic substances — for instance, propylene glycol produces acrolein, formaldehyde, and benzene
"Partially True". Excessively high temperatures can indeed produce high levels of bad stuff, but chances are, you're not vaping at temperatures that produce worrisome levels. IMO, temperatures that produce worrisome levels of bad stuff will also produce a burnt-tasting vape.

From my understanding sub ohms ( the higher heat of 1.0 ohm, and below ) is what produces acrolein, formaldehyde, and benzene but at what level is it safe? No one knows now because we are the first lab rats that will tell the truth years down the road. But studies have suggested that 1.0 ohm or higher does not produce this chemical reaction.
The resistance of a coil alone tells us practically nothing about the peak temperatures that coil will reach. I can easily build you a 0.5 ohm coil that runs cooler than a 2 ohm coil when driven by the same device using the same settings (even an unregulated device).

Far more telling is "heat flux" (milliwatts per square mm of coil surface area), but even that isn't really sufficient. Wicking and airflow also play major roles.

Umm.. tootle puffers don't use high temps. That's kinda the point.
I'm afraid it isn't that simple. It's established fact that some old-school tootle-puffing equipment produces higher concentrations of aldehydes that newer, more powerful gear due to bad wicking (old-school silica appears to be terrible at keeping coils wet) and (I hate to break it to ya) highly constrained airflow.

Well I tell ya what: if you could take a puff from my tight Achilles at 9.5w/2 ohms using my superlative-wicking Shiseido cotton and even feel WARMTH, I'll concede the point. Otherwise, fuhgeddaboutit -- I don't want warmth in my vape; all I want is TH and flavor, along with that super-tight draw. I use flash and 86% PG to get the TH; I use 25% flavoring for the great flavor. I don't need warmth, and my LIPS wouldn't tolerate it, nevermind my asthmatic lungs. There's a good reason I took one hit from a top-coil clearo, way back when, and never tried another: THEY SUCK, and they're hot!

I haven't gotten into RDTAs since I like the quickness of replaceable coils but I did go from a marker-style vape to a Triade DNA250 and Smok Cloud Beast King tank with the duodendary coils. I like a high wattage TC unit because of extended life from 3 batteries but vape no more than 110 watts and 220 degrees. The vapor I exhale is already cool when I put my arm through the cloud so I'm not worried about heat too much.
I've also gone from a fairly restricted hit to a fully open vent. Even with my low settings I blow some impressive clouds!

That's why I went RBA got tired of replacing coils... just because the wick was dirty.

Now i change the wick instead of the coil... and it really doesn't take that much longer to do. Once you figure out your gear. What's a couple minutes periodically.

Besides building a coil mean I can get exactly the vape I want. Regardless the mod I chose.

Hey glad to see someone has the mentality of eagerness to learn there gear. It's fading out.. so many vapors around here just want to keep sending money on coils. Personally if there isn't an rba or in aspires case RTA kit that's a negative that I can't fathom spending money on.

It took me around a month to really get coil building to where I could ball park my ohms and be decently accurate.

Too many people I meet at the vape shop some 95 % just do NOT want to learn. There only concern is buying coils. And even more people wanting to "Chuck Clouds" and build entirely too low.

If you want to vape, just like any hobby you learn about it. Keep learning, keep trying. Sorry for rant. It's just been getting to me. I vary rarely use tanks, the ones I do use are rdtas, and my personal favorite aspire Triton.

Love y'all. I got over days clean and sober I can relate Adrian to having to stop cold turkey. That fentanyl based h*roin was very hard.

I'm loving living proof that you can change your life around but you have to try. Vaping has helped tremendously.

I don't like RDTAs either, and never have been able to make TC vaping work for me, with my low wattage settings -- even 350F is too hot, especially when the ramp-up wattage is 25 or 30 watts -- I vape anywhere between 9.2 and 9.8 watts, using anywhere between 1.5 and 2 ohms (or sometimes a smidge more). Under 10w, if you know what you're doing, you don't need TC, because it's its own TC. Been vaping that way for over 3 yrs, and there is no issue with dangerous chemicals when you vape that conservatively. (and I don't give a rip about clouds, never have, never will -- all I care about is mimicking the smoking experience -- albeit with a much better taste/smell!)

No offense but how can you possibly get flavor or nic to be satisfying? Again, in not being offensive I'm asking because I can't go below 50 I vape 50- 80. I never have tried such low Watts I speed right up to 50 and then up usually to 65.

Because I have a very tight-draw RDA, called the Achilles. They're not available anymore. Newer users will never be able to experience vaping the way it used to be, where there were a lot of great tight-draw options, because the industry has run off and left new switchers and conservative vapers completely in the dust. Thank god I got 2 Achilles before they vanished. If you ever wanted to try this method of vaping, you can probably still find a Kayfun Lite Plus somewhere, dirt cheap -- NOT the later Kayfuns, because those too are much too airy -- Kayfun Lite Plus. The flavor isn't as great as with the Achilles, but that's what I vaped before I got the Achilles, and it's not bad at all.

But nic is a non-issue; I vape at 3mg -- I haven't smoked in over 3 yrs, have been off of regular use of WTA for over a year and a half, so there is no "addiction" except the behavioral.

Well I started out using coil heads.... couldn't get the vape I wanted so I learned to rebuild the heads. That was old protank and nautilus heads.... have a few atties that use heads.... all have hand build wick able builds in them.

Well, to be honest, I started vaping solely for the purpose of quitting smoking, not to gain a hobby. Though I'll admit it has become one. Also, I have severe ADHD and can't make it to a Post-It quick enough to write down what I was thinking before forgetting it, half the time. So, I'm lucky I've learned THIS much about vaping.
Plus, I've been homeless before. You gotta admit, vaping is less convenient than just pulling out a cigarette. I certainly won't be carrying around a workbench to recoil my vape should that happen again!
If you want to be critical about what people do then please, TURN YOUR ATTENTION TO WASHINGTON DC!

Btw Honda D, I'll take your advice into consideration if I make it that far. Thanks!

It does make a nice cool tasty vape with High VG and TC MOD set at 380°F for me! Only drawback is when I can't see the TV screen like before I missed an interception because of my cloud!

Another reason for liking the clouds..... The patch, a pill or that God awful taste if nicotine gum doesn't mimic smoking in the least bit but vaping TOTALLY does. I enjoy vaping so much, I honestly didn't put much effort into stopping cigarettes at all! I found an almost identical replacement for it. And, you can't smoke a cigarette at 0 nicotine like vaping allows. The choice was logical.

That's why I vape... and it has NOTHING to do with clouds -- what I exhale is quite similar to what I exhaled when I smoked. And no smokers sit around comparing their clouds, or trying to make them bigger. It's about what you INHALE, not what you exhale.

I agree with you. It actually has become dual purpose for me. I get a satisfying inhale and an entertaining exhale. I also think the entertaining aspect of it has something to do with the ease of quitting cigs. I’d NEVER be able to blow a cloud like that with a cig.

The only problem with high VG is the inability to stealth vape but I still suffer for that VG sweetness

Since the Nicotine and flavor is contained in the vapor I find it hard to understand how with no cloud you can get any of it. I know when I get what I call an Anemic Hit from 50/50 or too low a power level it is not satisfying at all.

Sure. But fat people aren't really satisfied with just one bite of a Twinkie either. Some people smoke/d a pack a day and some smoke/d 3-4 packs a day.

I don't know what there is to understand or not understand about personal preference. What I don't understand is debating the issue.

I don’t want to start an argument between anyone. I’m simply sharing my personal experience with my quick transition from smoking to vaping and the personal preferences I’ve developed in that short 2 month span.

Vaping has turned out to be a Godsend, in my world and I’ll happily accept the risk of vaping ejuice.

If one thing doesn’t kill me another will. Even so, my doctor had NO CHOICE but to admit my lungs ALREADY sounded better! No crackling. And, for the first time in my life, I actually smelled a smoker going into the grocery store, long after he/she was gone! I’m also not so winded

I TRUST NO ONE!!!!! Politicians. Religion. Big government. Big corporations. (I worked for one)

Bottom Line: I don’t let ANYONE decide what’s good for me and what isn’t!

Ok, off my soapbox I go!

to the OP. that quote came from this study. it's awfully technical, but the gist of it is that vaping does create some, not all, of the same chemicals in cigarettes but at a significantly lower amount and that it is far safer and can reduce the harm from smoking cigarettes. i read the article that you linked and that quote was obviously used as a scare tactic by removing it from the context of a study that supported the positive effects of vaping, especially for those who smoke and vape interchangeably.

How many decades went by before the government informed the public of tobacco health risks? Hell they used to claim smoking was good for you but now they want to say vaping has health risks. They add poison the the water and food supply so I'm not worried about vaping. Never trust a government that can't balance a budget. Something every citizen can do

I suspect it does have some health risks, but they appear to be at least one, and quite possibly several orders of magnitude less than smoking.

Similar claims were reported by a research team at Harvard University. However, Harvard University subsequently discredited that report and its results as being based on "non scientific principal" In other words, the results were only achievable in specific laboratory conditions where the results were predetermined and the method used was to produce those results. Basically, ejuice was heated to a temperature no mod can reproduce and no human could ever inhale. In fact, if you did vape at that level, formaldehyde would be the least of your worries.... The damage to your lungs would be fatal.

Arsenic is one of the chemicals you won't inhale with a vape.
What they fail to ever mention is the level of these chemicals produced. Even when the test was done under unrealistic circumstances. (NOBODY can vape at over 700 degrees). But.. the mention of arsenic put me in mind of this.....
Arsenic actually stays in your body. Except for high dosages, it doesn't kill you right away. Only when it reaches a toxic level, such as with lead or mercury does it become a hazard.
Around here, we have "choke cherries" small sour cherrys that grow on trees. Kids eat the flesh and spit out the pits. No problem, it is the pits that contain arsenic. Birds on the other hand, eat these things, pits and all for their entire lives with no ill effects. Which raises the point.. just because arsenic was present... how many gallons of ejuice would you have to vape to reach a toxic level? Funny how that was never mentioned, isn't it?

They allowed it. Do you know why this government was created? According to Declaration of Independence it was to protect liberty but by allowing big tobacco to make claims smoking was good for your health it became destructive to that purpose.

So it's government's job to investigate every claim made by any business?
