Hi All

Sort of new to Vaping, confused as hell LOL

Was a smoker till around 6 months back.

Then decided to try out vaping.

Bought a few kits.

  1. Smok G Priv kit (Used for sometime, but found it bulky and couldn't understand what settings to use)
  2. Bought 2 X Smok V8 Stick Kits. Happy with them, No settings to be changed, easy. Except did not like leakage etc
  3. Then got 1 called Penguin (Little Plastic Unit. But Draw was so tight, that dumped it 2nd day)
  4. Then got a ELeaf IJUST S, which was a tighter draw than the Smok's, but learned to Live with it.
I was on PG/VG 50/50 for 6 months, found that I was getting severe shoulder muscle pain etc. Then read that PG juice causes that in very few people. Due to Lactic acid buildup.
So shifted to 100% VG (2% Menthol) + 8mg millgram Nicotine equivalent. The shoulder pain disappeared.

(Using the Smok V8 Stick & the ELeaf IJUST S) The problem I am facing now is that:
1) The coils burn out quick (but thats Ok)
2) Built in Battery runs out very quick (Not Ok)

Another thing I noticed is that with the Lower ohms coils like 0.14 etc, the draw is much smoother, which I like. I changed that to 0.5Ohms, and it bacame a much tighter draw. Am I dreaming, or does that happen ?

I am thinking of updating my Kit. Considering things important to me.

1) Long Battery Life
2) 100% VG juice
3) Low 0.15 or 0,2 ohm coils (For super loose, smoother draw & feel)
4) Large tank capacity (4ml upwards)
5) one click use, no confusing settings
6) easily available coils and parts (All brands not available down under)

The one I am considering getting is the:

*Smok Stick X8 - 4ml
*With Extra coils:
V8 X-Baby X4 Quad Core
Quadruple Coil Design
0.13ohm rated for 30-70W, recommended 45-60W

I am thinking this will satisfy all my needs.

Thank you in advance for all your help.

Welcome sting to the underground

Where to start ....sounds like you would benefit from a dual battery mod if battery life is an issue for you? Unless I misread your intro. As to which one jump in the forum and review sections have a read about and ask away. if you like the look of some that is, there’s a shitload out there some are a lot better than others though.

Atty wise baby beast is very popular for the pre made coil side of the market as is the X4 coil. Again though might be worth considering others as well unless you get on with it already

Thanks Mate

The only dual battery mods, I have seen, are the ones which are complicated and need to be adjusted (wattage etc ect).
The Smok GPriv I have, has dual batteries, but again complicated.

But, saying that, I may try and find a low ohm (like 0.15 ohm coil for it, hopefully 4 coiled. As I am doin 100% VG, i have a feeling it will help.

Welcome to VU Sting. It can be pretty complicated. There's loads of info here so just read up and take it a bit at a time. Grats on giving up tobacco. :cloud:

I deal with complications by sticking to regulated mods in wattage mode. Start low and increase until you find your "sweet spot."

If you can find your way to wattage mode (leave it where it says normal on that screen for the time being) my smok mode takes 3 clicks of the fire button to get to the menu not sure how the G-Priv works

When in wattage mode I expect you’ll see resistance of the coil, wattage, and some other stuff like voltage output and a puffs counter, maybe how long it’s heated for as well. Ignore all of that focus on the wattage and resistance for now until you can read up more

You’ll also see the battery levels I expect and when it due to swap them over/charge it (you won’t get that on the stick)

Start around 40w when you break in a new coil and work up in small wattage increments to where you like vaping at

Don’t worry to much about all the other crap it has you can get to that later nice and easy :)

I’m pretty sure the G-Priv is internal battery isn’t it? If not grab some Samsung 30Q or 25R (18650) they’ll see you ok for that wattage

The Gpriv has 2 battery slots.

Will need to get new coils for it though.

Hence was just going to check out the Smok Stick X

Fair enough matey hehe :) can always come back to it at some point if you don’t get on with the stick either

very true mate, might just keep that as a back up

have got a few other starter kits with extra coil, might give it to some mates. They are better of than ciggs

Also all the eliquids I collected. before coming down to realise, i just prefer the simple 100% VG with 2% menthol + 8 to 12% Nicotine

the new kit I was going to get is:

Both are decent coils. Youtube your Gpriv, actually very easy to use in power mod. You will go thru coils a little faster with max vg. Adding a few drops of distilled water can help with that.

I don’t own the baby beast mate so I’m not best to advise you however I reckon the T8 will be a tighter draw than X4 as I bet without looking the chambers will be smaller

@Paratech Para is your man for the beast and smok line not much he won’t know he has pretty much all of it :)

Unless you know which is a tighter draw @Letitia9 ?

Do you just add water to the Juice bottle ? or in the atomiser tank ?
Is Drinking Tap water Ok ?

No to drinking water. Distilled water. Some add 5-10% to bottle, some just put a few drops in tank. Since you have BB just add 3-4 drops to tank and swirl around to see if it helps.

Hi sting
Your G-Priv (assuming you purchased the kit) came with the Smok Big Baby Beast.
That tank will use the same coils available for the Baby Beast.

The original packaging included two coils.
V8 Baby-X4
V8 Baby-T6

TFV8 Baby Beast/Big Baby Coil Types:

  • V8 Baby-M2 Dual Coil - 0.15ohm
    - Designed for 3.7V fixed output devices.
  • V8 Baby-M2 Dual Coil - 0.25ohm
    - Designed for 3.7V fixed output devices.
  • V8 Baby-Q2 Dual Coil - 0.4ohm
    - Rated for 30-80W | recommended 55-65W
  • V8 Baby-X4 Quad Coil - 0.15ohm
    - Rated for 30-70W | recommended 45-60W
  • V8 Baby-T8 Octuple Coil - 0.15ohm
    - Rated for 50-100W | recommended 60-80W
  • V8 Baby-T6 Sextuple Coil - 0.2ohm
    - Rated for 20W-100W | recommended 30-80W
If you look at the following pics and links you'll see some detailed info on some of the coils:

Notice the size of the air flow differences.
The X4 and T8 will have less air flow than the Q2 does.

As for ordering the Smok Stick X8
That uses the TFV8 X-Baby tank.
It is a little different than the Big Baby Beast.
That comes with the following coils:
V8 X Baby-M2 Dual Coil - 0.25ohm
V8 X Baby-X4 Quad Coil - 0.13ohm
wnA7TZL.jpg

https://imgur.com/wnA7TZL
Seems it may have switched to coming with the V8 X Baby-Q2 at some point one direction or another.
Yes I realize THIS X4 is listed differently than the X4 I listed above.

This is something Smok did on their site, not an error on my part.
https://www.smoktech.com/kit/stick-x8
Other coils available for the Stick X8:

The coils between the two tanks are NOT cross-compatible

To use your G-Priv I recommend the X4 or X8 coils for what you are asking.
If you get the Stick X8 kit, I recommend the M2 coil.

The X-Baby beat tank has an optional bubble tank you could get to increase the volume of juice it is capable of holding form 4ml to 6ml.

If you have specific questions or want pictures, just let me know.

Thanks Buddy, thats great info.

Just out of interest, what is the benefit of going from 2 to 4 to 8 coils ?

I love the really low ohms, just that they are crappy for battery life.

I would go with the x4 since they are rated for lower wattage.
The less you crank up the watts the better your battery life will be.

I use low ohm coils at higher wattage at home when it doesn't matter if my batteries die or not.

But when I'm out i use a higher ohm coil at lower wattage so my batteries last.

I still carry an extra mod, juice, and set of batteries in a plastic case in my bag just in case something goes wrong while I'm out.

It may seem like a pain to do it that way but you would never just walk around town with only one cigarette left right?

Welcome!

I am new too. I have both a SMOK Baby Beast and a SMOK Big Baby Beast.

The Big Baby Beast has looser/easier draw (with a given coil), but depending on the coil I put in there - it's sometimes too loose for me. I think as with all things it's a matter of preference.

You can sometimes find vape shops that will sell individual coils (as people have mentioned, both tanks use the same coil) - then just buy one coil and try it. If you like it, then you can order more online.

I am liking the T-6, but that's because I like things cooler and tighter. Right now as I write this I have it at 82 watts, and my mod is running at nearly 20 amps. So battery life WILL be an issue for me, LOL.

Even if you don't vape at higher wattages, and 82 isn't super high - you will get longer battery life if you get a mod that uses two 18650 batteries. I have two internal built in 18650's (I think) in my SMOK G150.

One thing that might be helpful is to google "ohms law" - the explanation of what Ohm's Law is will help you understand why sub-ohm coils use more watts/amps/current. It also helps understand why regulated box mods have settings for wattages, ohms, and sometimes voltages.

Sometimes understanding why something is the way it is can make it less confusing. I know in my case I hate math, but I forced myself to understand Ohm's Law.

I think the bottom line is that coils that have more surface area tend to draw more flavor from e-juices. But to get more surface area, one has to create coils that use thicker wire, or multiple coils (or both). Either one of those strategies decreases resistances - thus requiring increasing amounts of electricity to fire the coil up to a given temperature.

For example, one coil might be .3 ohms. But if you add a second in parallel, then your total resistance goes down to .15 ohms. I'm still learning all this stuff and haven't yet figured out why RBA's can't be set up to run coils in series, BTW (then we would get large surface area and not have to run at higher wattages).

Sorry for long post. I also could be totally wrong, LOL.

Anyway, welcome! People here are super helpful and I am glad I found this forum.

Hey mate, I have a couple of v8 sticks with no issues of leaking. Make sure you put a little bit of juice on all the seals so they seal properly. You should do this with all your tanks.

Welcome to VU

Totally normal to be confused - so much to learn - and we all started out not knowing much
I got a story or two from when I started vaping Iol, I feel like an idiot looking back at it but that's half the fun when you get a new toy. There is a bit of a learning curve but you'll get there sting.

Get a simple regulated mod just so you can adjust the watts. Up, Down, down fire is all you need to know my mod has a ton of setting I don't even mess with or care about.
Kanger iKen comes to mind, big battery and plenty of watts to play with. It's bulky but bulk comes with the battery life

For smoother hits try dropping you nic down to 6mg that the only thing I can think of that's giving you any kind of a throat hit.

The tight draw is all in your tank, look into tanks with good airflow look around to find one that suits you.

It seems like your vaping preferences are a lot like mine and if you come to enjoy vaping as a hobby RDA and RTA might fit a lot of your needs. Wire and cotton are everywhere won't have to hunt for tank specific coils and you can build it as low as you safely can most have excellent airflow etc...

GL hope you find something that satisfies all your needs.

Hmm yeah stop the nose trick.

Like the previous comment says. The coils dont affect the air flow. Its the tanks themselves, but most have an adjustable air flow on them but im sure you have seen that.

The smok x8 would be a good choice. I was looking at them too.

My mate just got a g priv. There a good device but more on the heavy side and a bit bulkyish. Still a good mod though.

As previously stated, Dont worry about all the settings on the mods. All you need to usually do is click the mode button unitil it displayd watts if it doesn't already... then adjust up and down.. easy... you dont need all the other settings but if you get bored one day flick through the manual.

I just have a smok micro one 150, innokin mpv4, vaporesso swag, aspire speeder 200, 2 x v8 sticks. All are sweet but im not a huge fan of the speeder.

I am currently looking for a quality dual 18650 mod that is slim and compact.

Try juices with koolada instead of menthol. Will give you the cooling effect without the medicine taste. If you diy you might like Purlium Butter Mint.
