30 year + smoker trying to quit

It's not a contest! You should use whatever works best for YOU, nevermind everyone else! Everyone told me to start at 18mg, but 18mg AND 12mg made me sick as a GOAT.

Andria

I know it's not. As I said started on 18 mg due to understanding that was what is in one cigarette. Now recently, I'm feeling "drawn" up at times and it seems it might be the nicotine. That's why I want to try reducing if I can and feel it is something of a need. But I'm here today still vaping 18 mg per ml. *chuckles* Think next I need to mix or buy some it'll be 9 mg per ml, that'll cut me back half way. If I can go lower later on great, if not even that would be great. But I'm doing it for me and not out of competition.

From 18 to 9? No way in hell would I recommend going that fast! Maybe try 15mg, then 12mg, THEN 9mg... and at that point, going 1mg at a time. Lowering nicotine works best if you do it slowly enough that your brain doesn't notice -- it takes a mind to fool a brain. ;)

Wattage isn't important. Getting the proper vape to quit is. I'm vaping at 120W BUT Im vaping 3mg nic juice. I'm probably getting the same amount of nicotine that you are, just getting it faster from bigger clouds. Its fine to maintain nicotine but direct to lung is not really great to kick the smoking habit.
I wouldn't have quit if I hadn't come across dtl vaping. MTL was just frustrating for me.

*Sigh*

Here's one of my typical coils: not fancy, not pretty, doesn't even remotely resemble jewelry or modern art. But it vapes -- and that's ALL it needs to do.

Sweet little micro-coil you got there...Good job!
And yeah I agree with you.
I like looking at the (Coil-Porn Pics)
But honestly I'd rather vape a nice little standard micro-coil than most of those fancy pants coils.

I just installed a single wire coil in one of the Nanos. Haven't used one in months. Will admit flavor is some better, but lung hit is lacking.

I'm feeling it. The lack of smoking is beating me up a bit. I just keep vaping through the cravings.
Good for you.Just keep in mind having a cigarette every once in a while is alright.
I am vaping at 11 watts. I feel like a noob. lol
Don't feel like that.
I been vaping for a few years now & I still use my old (Ego-Type) every so often.
My chocolate hazel nut brownie is 18mg while my blueberry cake is 12mg. It's strange as the blueberry gives me headaches. Not so much that it's unbearable, just enough to annoy me. I'm powering through.
Thanks for your words of support!
Cut down on your nicotine level and stay hydrated.

I started with 24mg but luckily had bought some 16mg as well. The 24mg stuff made my poor old ticker skip a few beats...Not fun!
I'm currently at 6mg across the board.

Nope standard american cigarette is like 0.8mg.
To get cigarettes that are higher you'd have to buy them online. You'd also have to know which brands were that high in nicotine.

Example of high nicotine strength cigarettes above.

EDIT ; THE PIC SHOWN HERE IS THE BLUE WHICH IS 0.9 NICOTINE!

I was able to jump from 12mg to 6mg due to using of sub-ohm tanks.
12mg stuff in most sub-ohm tanks tastes like crap & is super peppery.

I would argue that most vapers fit that description

1 of the bartenders at my local bar sure does.He uses a Smok Alien & Baby Beast combo during his lunch break & a Juul for the rest of his shift. He was very interested in the little Eleaf iStick TC40W & Aspire Hollow Sleeve Nautilus setup I had on me.

Most of the vapers I've seen in the real world are definitely both. Especially the ones I see at my friend's shop. Most tend to use the mtl gear during work and fire up the high power stuff at night. I'm the opposite. Work stresses me out so I'm using low builds on parallel boxes and series mods by day and then at night a cyclone or hadalay on a squonker at night to relax.

Is that a micro-coil? I use a 3/32 drillbit; I thought that was too large an ID for a real micro-coil -- and I don't compress them at all, I've just gotten much better at wrapping them pretty close together. My juice is still such a gunk monster, it's nice to see the spaces between the wraps, so I can tell how bad the gunk is getting.

For coils that are made to look at rather than vape with, I like those polished flat wire jobs; really nice looking! No earthly idea how they would vape, and it would probably be out of my (very limited) league anyway.

That should be a T-Shirt...Cheers!

I just have a serious problem with all these mods that'll do 100+ watts -- those are cloud chasers, not cigarette-enders. Most folks that have been smoking for decades probably have one serious problem or another with their lungs, so there is NO WAY IN HELL they could vape at those monstrous levels. It seems to me that mod makers have utterly forgotten/disregarded the real reason for vaping: TO QUIT SMOKING. And I know you feel that way about vaping, since you really don't get why a non-smoker would wanna do it at all -- though I personally think it's better for a non-smoker to choose to try out vaping, than to try out smoking and maybe get hooked before they even realize it. But REAL research has shown over and over that non-smokers mostly DON'T take up vaping -- it's some astronomical percentage of vapers that are either former smokers, or aspiring-to-be-former smokers -- those aspirers really can't be using those monstrous power levels, they'll choke and abandon vaping and just keep smoking -- it may be killing them, but they're USED TO IT.

I'm just really glad I started vaping in 2014, when 15w was the limit. I've never even gone that high!

I don't need substances to make my heart skip; high stress does it to me! :giggle: Just another reason why it's really good that I've drastically decreased my caffeine intake, and keep my nic level very low. This getting old business ain't for the *faint of heart*. ;)

I guess I look at it like... there was some reason why we all started smoking, and those reasons are probably many and varied -- and might still apply, but now those who might otherwise have tried/taken up smoking have a much safer alternative. The fact that smoking is hazardous to health didn't stop any of us who started after 1964, and probably wouldn't stop people now, either -- what MIGHT stop them is that they could vape, instead.

I'm seeing the same here.Way less of the (Clouds Bro Clouds) set and less jump on the bandwagon mentality.

Lights on cell phones died out
I miss having a decent lightweight flashlight.

Hoverboards died out
Thankfully they were fire hazards and nobody seemed to care about them much anyhow.

Manbuns died out
Huzzah...Nuff Said!

Fidget spinner died out
My fidget spinner is named (Siobhan)...Yes I'm aware some people will still not get this joke.

Vaping as a fad trend will die out.
I hope the fad of vaping goes away but that vaping in & of itself does not.If that makes sense.

LMAO!
Thankfully I did get it...

To clarify, vaping isn't going away, not even close. However, the fad brought in tons of people, and with it, more technology than otherwise would have been garnered. Most of that tech is more than welcomed and very much needed, on the safety premise. Unfortunately, like all fads, it's slowly withering down to being what it was intended to be, a healthier alternative to combustible tobacco.
I'm sure there will always be non smoker picking it up, but moreso as a nicotine delivery method, and not so much for the purity of creating a weather system.

Oh I'm behind that idea.I still don't get why a person would want to take up a habit they never had an interest in before.

Anyone who knew me before I was 13 yrs old would have been as shocked by my taking up smoking as my parents were, when they found out -- I was the original Large Pain In The Ass about smoking... but then I started high school, I saw all these cool-looking people (wearing bell-bottom pants, platform shoes, and the boys had really long hair!) hanging out on the corner across from the school and they all had cigarettes in their hands or hanging out of their mouth... including a 14 yr old boy that I liked very much. Someone mentioned that if I smoked, I wouldn't notice HIS smell... and whaddaya know, that was absolutely true. :D I could never figure out why my parents didn't notice how I suddenly stopped bitching about their smoke in the car; I even asked my mom about that, within the last few years; she just shrugged.

I'm sure there are a lot of similar stories about the shocking behavior of taking up inhaling poison as a fun and cool pastime. And I'd be willing to bet that teenagers are every bit as stupid now as they were then. :D (Just look at their slang!) but now, there's this other thing they could do; it's probably just as stupid, but FAR less likely to have fatal consequences... and that's a very good thing.

Alright. Not sure where I got the estimate I did. I'm always gathering data here, there, when, now, then and parts and places between which defy conveyances.

I do recall a UK cigarette Black Death it was called. Liked those a lot but the importing tax increased the retail, they became a once in a blue moon kind of treat. Then, of course the UK caught wise to them end running the excise tax there, stopped that. They also ran into some legal troubles, closed shop. Why is that germane? Possibly, might have been told they had the 18 mg per cigarette, of course that most likely was marketing.

Never cared for unfiltered Camels, or any Camels really. I did smoke Lucky Strikes & unfiltered Pall Malls off and on. And yes, Lou Reed still does rock. Sorry, I get voices but not like the nut case type of voices. I hear people think, also got automatic subtitles which flicker off and on at times. Some how was born capable of understanding spoken Spanish, Ukrainian, German, and some others but not always fully grasping the exact meanings. I look out onto the movie screen in front of me and read the subtitles provided by machine translation. The hearing them think helps. So, yes Lou Reed does rock, if it wasn't you asking who ever it was is answered.

You might try a higher PG/VG ratio. PG gives lung hit more than VG. Personally, I found that the longer I vaped (months) the more I found the PG was making my throat sore, so I vape 20/80 full time. Same with nicotine. I vape 3mg as 6mg became to harsh. Just a matter of getting used to vaping and leaving tobacco smoke behind you.

http://vapingunderground.com/threads/smok.369024/

It isn't people like him that I resent. It is an industry that abandoned smokers to pander to folks like him that I do. The trend winds will one day no longer blow in the vaping direction and companies will have to figure out how to serve their long term customer base.

Had to put him on ignore over that.

Then I made the mistake of viewing one of his ignored threads (second chance) and it was a reasonable post so I replied.

he just called me a liar about having him on ignore and was generally nasty so no more views of his ignored posts.
Life is a bit better if one can ignore some of the warts in it.

Only tobacco extracts worked for me. The less sweet the better. Fruit and food flavors were not my profile. It has been 5 years now since my last smoke.
The atomizer that I stuck with after trying many over the years is the Kayfun. I liked the 3.1, the Russian, the v3 and the v5. I like the lastest Kayfun Prime too but prefer the larger build deck on the V5.
I use a single coil, low watts (12 watts) and a 1.2 ohm resistance. Natural flavors do not like high temp so no sub-ohm for me. (Others will disagree but whatever works is OK).
Surprisingly, the mod makes a difference too. Voltage regulation needs to be high quality for consistency. I have many mods but the Dicodes are perfect (not cheap).
I use Eko-wool mineral wicks exclusively to avoid the toxicity of incidental dry burns.
I find myself in the minority among the general vaping community as I am only into vaping as a smoking alternate and only tobacco will do. That's what worked for me after smoking high quality tobacco for 40 years.

I never put anyone on ignore on any site I post on because group conversation context gets lost that way. I value having the complete context of a group conversation to comprehend over not having to read annoying posts.

Steve is real easy to manage compared to some of the people I have dealt with in the past. I'll just treat him as a pathetically amusing source of humor is all. Just trying to make lemonade out of lemons.

So of course them being engineers they decided "hey this squonking stuff has been around for a bit why don't we improve it"

They'll stir the pot on you every chance and the whole time you will not have a clue of the shit storm on the rise until 1 of your friends gets your attention to how bad shit just got.By that time it is usually too late and even some of your friends might be looking at you with the damn (hairy eyeball)
No fucking thanks for any of that nonsense.
