Hey everyone, my local b&m store only had 6mg nic in a flavor i like to use but i kinda like mine @ 9mg nic Soooo my question is ,, is there any easy to interprate calculator i can use to "up my nic" a tad to 9mg (the emphasis on easy here) ..?.
my bottle is 120ml and is 70/30.
i got some nicotine from the nice gal at the store she said it was 100% nic ( it's a clear slightly viscous liquid)
but i can't seem to follow any of the calculators online because they want all kinds of info and i just don't know what to enter.
Can anyone help me ?,
all i want to do is turn my store bought liquid up to 9mg from 6mg without shitin poisoning myself....

OH just thought of this ,, i could pour just 10mils into a clean bottle and work with that if that will make the calculations any easier.
help,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,please....:gaah:

Stop!!!!! You’re not giving us correct info. No way it’s 100% nic. 100mg nic base is only 10% nic. Find out what you actually have before using it.

I was tagged in the post directly above it, my bad.

I doubt I would ever question your Mad DIY skills @Teresa P ! Was just offering my opinion/suggestion for the OP because I feel if someone is working with a Toxic Substance like Nicotine they need to be able to use the tools available to safely be working with it. That is why I will never do the math or calculations for someone although I might check their calculations.

You are very kind, Steve, and I agree. That's why I like helping when I can, would hate to see anyone hurt or sick.

I think the best way to help a person new to DIY with concerns is have them learn to use a calculator. I see too many posts where people are unsure of what the percentage of the Nicotine Base actually is and that is someone who should not be messing with it.

I saw a post about someone asking for help with the Nicotine and the person offering help made a mistake and the final result would have been twice what they wanted. After the error was pointed out that post was edited and since the DIY Guru was proved wrong the post was long since deleted. You can imagine where I am talking about.............

I must have missed that one or forgotten (and the latter is highly likely). I had actually read the original post a little after 3 that morning, before coffee, which is a very bad time to run the math through my head. So after a half a cuppa, I was relatively sure I knew the proper calculation but ran it through a calculator to be sure. Hate to have the poor fella sick as a mutt because I screwed up.

Just for shit and giggles I vaped my 48MG VG Base straight. While it was a little more Head Rush then I am used to I did not get sick or have to run to the ER. I still stand by not doing it for someone and teaching them how to use it. Sort of like give a man a fish or teach him to fish.

Is that like "use this vape calculator" vs. "know how to perform simple arithmetic calculations" ?

;)

Sorry.. it's not DIY alone, we see this with every aspect of vaping, it's lack of basic numeracy I'm railing against. :(

And Galvan... being unclear on the strength of bulk nicotine is a tad worrisome as well. ;)

Yes, exactly Jim because I know a few people with learning disabilities who can't do the math but can use a calculator. Even a web based one is possible.

If you think that small portion of the population is the cause of my concern... we're in far worse shape that I imagine.

And to be clear, my concern is not using a calculator (they're everywhere... use 'em) it's the inability to picture the problem... just because there's simple math involved. It's quite literally mathematical illiteracy.
You know (I hope) exactly what I'm talking about.

And Gavlan (got it right this time)... I'm really not wanting to single you out, caught me in a mood I guess.
It's the sheer number of these "ask first, maybe learn to figure it out later" threads that get on my tits. :D

I'll have a vape and maybe get over it. ;)

Yeah I agree 100% on this! Why should I learn when some kind hearted sole will do it for me.

While some of the DIY Guru's will make it seem like Rocket Science it is so freaking simple I have told many DIY Newbies to take their 100 MG/ML Nicotine base and put it on their skin. When you are not being rushed to the ER you will see I was right it is not as DANGEROUS as some will make you believe!

Quite so.

It's not to be played with, nor feared... just respected.
I work with 200mg, and only capped it there because I felt if I went with 400 or perhaps even 300, I'd want better ventilation than I have in the dedicated interior bathroom I use. Heady fumes, eh?
Glasses are a must (bet it stings like hell, at the least) but I only glove up if I see some has made it past the threads of the bottle. Working at a sink makes clean up easy too.

Not an assumption that should be made.

True. It's logical on its face, but is it reasonable?

Never assume that what you have is what you think when it comes to a Toxin. Granted it is not fun getting a nicotine overdose but unless you drink 100 MG/ML you will not have to run to the ER.

So he can sit in a boat all day drinking beer... I know, I know older than dirt.

But truth be told, it is better for most to be shown how to find the solution rather than always giving the solution. It's been awhile since I've spent time in usenet linux groups and the good ol' days of RTFM.

@BoomStick does bring up a good point that the OP needs to clarify if he has 100% nic (actually 995 mg there's always some impurity) or 100 mg nic. Big difference in the calculation and safety.

Like I said in the beginning to be 100% sure of exactly what you have.

It a way over stated fear about the 100mg nic base. Some explain that you need a hazmat suit, goggles and gloves just to mix up some juice...what a farce. Working with the 100mg nic is no different than working with Mr Clean or any other solvent as long as you respect it then it will respect you. The only real fear with any juice is kids and dogs, my kids are grown up enough to know but seeing my labradoodle prance across the room with a 50ml jug of my wife's 3nic juice in her mouth that she snagged off her desk gave me a heart attack and all juice is out of dog reach now.

Not an assumption that should be made.

It's a safe assumption.

( it's a clear slightly viscous liquid)

vis·cous
ˈviskəs/
adjective
adjective: viscous
having a thick, sticky consistency between solid and liquid; having a high viscosity.

Sounds like it has VG base. Pure nic is not viscous. Even the COA's vendors put out describe nic samples as watery. ;)

That's a good catch. :)

I've never handled the stronger stuff, nor had any real discussions about it. Good to know.

*cue the CBS TMYK theme. :D

Like I said in the beginning to be 100% sure of exactly what you have.
My fault people i didn't make it clear , sorry.
it's 100mg.
The " calculators" are a tad confusing so i guess i need to be taught to fish, or sit down and get my pencil and notepad out and do the math long hand.
I just need a formula i reckon.
sorry and thanks for ALL your input.
Computers and calculators are my nemesis , paper and pencil are my pals.

The fun part, and why 100mg is popular, is that it makes the math easy... once you recognize the physical property and that our "mg" is a shorthand for the actual "mg/ml" or milligrams of nicotine per milliliter of volume.

Oh, and just how precise you convince yourself you're able to detect... or be concerned over. (I'm skeptical of many such claims).

You need to add 3 mg/ml to 120 ml... so you need a tad more than 360 mg of nic (you're increasing the end volume a bit remember). With 100 mg/ml nic, that's 3.6 ml plus a skosh (technical term, that).

Now look again at the calculated answer Teresa gave in post #2. ;)
(eta: just noticed she maybe meant ml not grams, though we do often just shorthand the weight/volume of everything DIY to 1 gr/ml.)

With a goodly volume like 120 ml... I'd just syringe out anything between 3.5 and 4.0 ml of nic and call it a day. YMMV. :)

eta: TBH (and totally not OCD :p )... I'd actually shoot for a ballpark around 3.7. Just depends on the volume and accuracy of whichever syringe I picked up.
But I wouldn't be overly concerned, and I'd still be damn close to the mark. ;)
For us who do use nic (moderately)... it's surprisingly self-regulating.

With some newbies possibly reading that posted advice of your's, I would have hoped you would have also provided
the newbies the important related advice. Otherwise it could be a very bad suggestion.

No the fuck it’s not. Nor is it smart. You can tell folks how much mystery nic to use if you want. I would prefer to find out the actual strength first. Holy shit dude. Wow. Good luck.

Fuck off ninny. It IS 100 mg nic. The assumption WAS safe.

Just where does your snowflake butt hurt come from, that I was correct in my assumption?:giggle:

You just go ahead and shut the fuck up if you don't want to help people with their nic because yes I can tell folks how much mystery nic to use. It was only a fucking mystery to you. I knew what it was, and was I correct, no matter how much it burns your Nanny ass. Chewing my ass for being correct is fucking hilarious.

Why do I need to specify? I made a general statement but why do you feel I need to be specific?
I did not ask you be "specific" at all. My use of "Specifically" was to specify the part of your total post I was commenting about. (The part Below "Specifically")

My problem is with your so called "general statement" (?)
of...

"I have told many DIY Newbies to take their 100% MG Nicotine base and put it on their skin."

I'm reading this thinking Linux 'help' forums.

"I'm new and want to transfer pictures from my camera to my computer. I think I'd like to use Linux instead of Windows, will it work?"

"What chipset is handling the I/O IRQs on the PCIe channels?"

"Um, I don't know"

"Wait a minute, they don't need to know about I/O IRQs! They MUST have a high speed fravistat bypass installed before the sub-twiddler or the whole thing will go up in smoke!"

"Sorry for bothering you, I'll just stick with Windows".

Thank you @Teresa P for a quick and correct answer.

Have the rest of you read your posts?

Gavlin, I'm in the same boat. I have suck wonderful Broke Dick and other flavors that are just 6mg. I'm at 18. I'll try the calculator. Oddly enough my hubby was in here just an hour ago trying to figure out how to up my nic. I had about 6-7ml left in a bottle. I poured out what I had in my tank into the bottle and added just 3 drops of 100 nic. Worked like a charm. Now, to figure out how to up the nic in a new bottle of 30ml or 60ml bottle.
Trial and error. Oh, and I did get the tiniest bit of airborne nic in my eye when we transferred all the nic into big amber growlers. It hurt like a SOB and had my eye red for 2 days. I'm using goggles next time.

Nicotine Shots? Easier to calculate for newer DIYers? But what about 18mg pre-made juices?

The calculator you want is e juice me up from http://ejuice.breaktru.com/ its simple and to figure out how much nic to add . Lets say you have a 10 ml bottle you will have to pull a little out to make room so you got 8ml of juice so in the calc program you put that you want to make 8ml of juice and set your nic target for how much you want to add lets say 6mlg you dont need to set any flavors just make sure your nic settings are correct and hit calculate and it will tell you how much nic to add

Confused about adding Nicotine so tell them to download and install software to mix? Yeah real simple solution..............
