What is your typical series box build

I've been using mechs for years and have everything from single tubes to parallel and a few series boxes.
Unfortunately, I haven't found a series build I really enjoy.
On a single tube and parallel box I build around a .1 with ss fused Clapton wire. (4x30/40)
Ive been using that same exact build for about a year now. I just can't find a simple build I like on my series mods.

Any advice is appreciated.

I generally buy the exotic wire, because I honestly can't get the exotic builds down; hence, I buy those in SS, so I don't have any kanthal in stock other than some 26g and 24g.

On my single tubes I typically build around .08-.12 and use NiChrome 80 or SS136L, but I do break down and use Kanthal when building for a Series Box to up the resistance a bit. For my Series Box builds I usually go with Parallel Claptons....just a single core of 28ga Kanthal with 40ga Kanthal wrap wire...I make 4 lengths of clapton wire and then wrap 2 of them in Parallel anywhere between 8-10 wraps around a 3mm precision screwdriver. Running dual coil it should Ohm out around .48 or so. Still a pretty warm moist vape and instant fires without any ramp up...sometimes still a good bit of popping when first using it, so, be careful firing without the cap on.

You're not drinking water are you?! You realize that stuff is found in antifreeze!?!

That's just it... I prefer a restrictive lung hit, with a slightly warm to almost cool vape.
Haven't run a series build in a while, last time I did it was just 26g kanthal around a .6 ohm build but it had no flavor.
I may as well suck on a saltine cracker.

i like a 2x28ka1 fused clapton that comes to about .4 ohms...i have used and loved that in a petri rda, goon, boreas, apocalypse etc etc.

a 6x.3mm ka1 staple at ~.4 ohms is good too, but it gets fairly big so it works better in a goon or something, not so much a petri (imo).

i like hot series builds, so if you like it cooler, both will cool down a little with an extra wrap or two (closer to .5 or 6 ohms)...but you start to lose that awesome series ramp up/slap in the face. on series you can also use larger wrap wire to ease things up a bit. i tend to always use 38 or 40, but 34 or 36 would likely be a little mellower...

So I'm going to try this one first
Comes to a 0.3- 24/32 ka1 wire paralleled with 28g ka1.
On a regulated mod set to where I expect it to be on a series device it's hot like Satan's breast milk

That build is great on it!
I don't have a 510 volt meter to take the measurements. As much as I hate this phrase: it hits like a damn freight train; but, perfect for those moments at work when I have to decide between justifiable homicide or immediate nicotine infusion.

26g Kanthal A1 / 38g Nichrome80 fused clapton, 3mm ID, 6.5 wraps, dual coil ohms out at .28 ohms in the Purge Mods Head Shot RDA. The coils are mounted at the same height as the air holes... the upper legs of the coils are slightly longer than the lower ones. Next to the lower legs of the coils, the cotton wicks are touching the inside of the cap as well as are partly covering the air holes to provide the necessary airflow restriction.

There's virtually no ramp up with this build. Hard, short (.5 - 1 second if the batteries are fully charged) pulls are compulsory... you want the juice to almost get sucked into your mouth so the juice actually splays onto the coils. I can vape Twelve Monkeys Congo Cream / Bonogurt like this all day and all night on my Vaperz Cloud XXX stack equipped with dual iJoy 20700 batteries.

I use one of my Taifun BT (mesh tank) with my series mods with great success. The build is a 3.5mm strip of #400 SS mesh. It comes out at 0.65 ohm, delivering about 95W with fresh batteries.

Plenty good enough for an enjoyable vape and a reasonable battery life. But it's just mesh atomizers that need that much power: with regular coil atomizers, I rarely go over 50W - usually more like 35W. As long I have flavor, I'm happy.

What would you build Carambrda if going for 2-3 second pulls?

My "go to" build for series mods is a pair of fused Claptons - 2x28K/38N, 3.0mm I.D., 7/8 wraps. But it really depends more on what atty you're using. With the higher voltage, you can use beefier builds and get better flavor than you would on a parallel mech. But you need an atty that can handle the extra volume of the beefier coils. For a single coil option, a staple coil made of 10x0.3K ribbon, with 38N80 outer, 6/7 wraps, 3.0mm I.D will also work nicely in something like the DPRO or the Pharaoh.

Single coil alien 28g Nichrome80 / 38g Nichrome80, 3.5mm ID, 7.5 wraps, ohms out at .49 ohms in the 24mm Deathwish Modz Deathtrap RDA. I cut my wick fairly long on both ends as doing that enables me to cover the entire bottom of the deck with a thin layer of cotton. After it has been juiced up I like to gently bud this layer with my cotton hook until the layer looks more uniform, making sure it's nice and flat. No cotton should be touching the outside of the coil or else it makes me cough... after a few pulls I remove the cap to see if the layer has stayed flat. I poke it a few times if necessary. After that it should be good.

Many thanks :) been looking at the deathwish death trap 30mm any good? Draw and flavour I mean, the build deck is immense which peeked my interest firstly

saw they also released a 24mm as well

The 30mm version you have to put in a MASSIVE coil build. Else, it slightly whistles and the flavor gets diluted, but with the right coil build it does produce excellent flavor─albeit there won't be a whole lot of restrictiveness in airflow possible to match with those kinds of coil builds so IMO think rather high wattages and big amounts of cotton stuffed in there because it's going to eat through juice a lot... things are going to get real cloudy really fast with this one. 30mm RDAs are not for everyone, though. I can't see myself using this for an everyday vape despite I think it's excellent and it's great.

Looks like the new recoil rebel would be a decent a shot at it. I've been using the Kennedy 24, 2 post (it's 24 or 25 not sure)

@KingPin! Since you mentioned the Deathtrap... That's an "edit" I did for my go to build for the DeathTrap RDA 30mm... I probably put it on the site or instagram at some point. It's a .3 Caterpillar Track Maximus King Coil. It's the best 30mm RDA I've found... The Flavor is incredible on it since its slammed down, and you get a ton from a single coil. Plus you can fit duals, or like 6mm ID singles. You can do so much and it's so easy to build. Comes with a squonk pin too. I haven't tried it but the deck is perfect for it. I would not fire that on a regular series, but para-series I'm good. I have never had it whistle or anything offensive like that, It's loud but any pull on a .3 series build Is gonna be unless you wanna suck burnt cotton!

The thing I love the is back air holes... If you line em' up right under the legs of your coils it mitigates Hot Legs big time, and lets you close off some of the front air even. It's not leaky as long as you don't tilt it while saturated... duh. You can close it off too. I fucking love it. It's married to my HOG.

As some have said... .5-1 second pulls, and hard pulls... I'm a series box whore, lol. I love raw power, used to be a DNA guy. For me the biggest key to series boxes was getting used to wicking with a big coil. I doubt you have that issue @f1r3b1rd as I remember you from all those DNA threads back when they were kicking... I think? VT133 craziness? I'm a convert.

Late to the thread, but I don't really have time to be around too much like I used to. I still see a thread I like and gotta post!

Man... those coils are so good, I honestly have left it in and cleaned it a bunch... it's such a fantastic build for ME... and the coils clean up flawlessly, so I can't say I have... I can recommend a Scottish Roll type of wicking... I jam a ton inside, all straightened out, on all my series build and brush the deck... I find it to be the best to mitigate the burning of the center wick since those coils take a bit to cool... they ramp up immediately on a HOG, but it's a ton of power and heat to cool down.

So I suppose I can only suggest a wicking technique. YMMV, but when I've tried tucking wick into the juice well it just doesn't perform as well. TO ME... I am all about my modified Scottish Roll for Series builds though... It's the only way I can consistently keep up the wicking when I go low...

Hope that helps some... Instagram has tons of wild pics, obviously, but it can fit huge coils man. I've seen duals and if you made em' around 3-4mm id, you can stack em'. No need IMO. And truly, I love a lot of 30mms, but this one is a flavor atty that chucks clouds, not a cloud chucker that gets flavor. Just my opinion.

Carrack Vapes in Canada is THE PLACE for Deathwish Modz everything to my knowledge. They are good people and ship to the U.S. If you can't find one stateside I believe they definitely have the 24mm. And when they release their glorious Tubes... Carrack is where to go. Not cheap stuff, but nice.

I can only speak for MY OPINION and on the 30mm. What I typed is how I sincerely feel. You may hate it? if it sounds like your thing, I doubt you will not like it at least. If you want more versatility regarding mods to use it on, I haven't tried one, but get the 24mm probably. If you have mods to sit the 30mm, I really like it. RDA's are VERY subjective though.

Yeah, like I said it's pretty darn excellent... the slight whistling only happens if you put in a too small coil build and not enough cotton so this is definitely not an issue to me. On my HOG V3.1 Limited Edition "Four Horsemen" it just looks sooooooo badass:

Subscribe to the Deathwish Modz Groups on Facebook if you have it... I don't know that a ton are being made but there are people making them. I think you can find people on there to do it... there are some cool ones... really cool.

Gotta have Facebook though... if ya' do you're good!

I don't have the Unholy. But I can attest the Crossbones is a gem, and, as you can see in the pics I posted it sits completely flush with the mod so it looks s(l)ick.
