Looking For Donut Flavor

I'm looking for a plain donut flavor extract. Dunkin Donuts would call this an "old fashioned" donut. DIY E-Liquid has one, but it's got only a fair review and it's on the pricey side. $5 for 10ml. That's also the only size they have it in.

I've done a google search and gone through my favorite suppliers, but cannot find another plain donut anywhere. Does anyone know of anything? There's plenty of frosted and jelly out there; just not plain.

Hmm. I'm not personally into this flavor, but several people do get results when using FA Joy, in low percentages. Some say it gives that yeasty flavor that's needed. Something a bit on the sweeter side, might be FA Zeppola. That one I do really enjoy.

If @Teresa P doesn't have a suggestion from the THOUSANDS of flavorings she has ( :) ) then @HeadInClouds might have something to suggest, as well.

I'm seeing that Joy is more of an enhancer. You use your donut flavor and add some Joy to it. A good suggestion for when I get the donut flavor I want because it sounds interesting.

Hadn't thought of using Zeppola. I'm so hung up on finding plain donut that I'm forgetting that a donut is basically fried dough with sugar in it. You're right, though. Zeppola may be a little too sweet.

To be totally honest here, all donut flavorings suck to me. I've yet to try one that didn't taste like nasty Play-Doh and I gave away any and all I had. When I want a doughnut juice, I mix up the old fashioned donut recipe from @HeadInClouds Gumroad site. Worth far more than the 3 bucks the recipe costs. Donut, foolproof, delicious, every time.

Hmm...so basically making donuts out of other recipes. I've looked some up on e-liquids. Cupcakes, cake batter, cinnamon roll, things like that. I guess if I get the right mix I can essentially "fry" my own donut within my recipe.

There may still yet be a donut flavoring out there that doesn't taste like dammit, I certainly haven't tried them all. There may be offerings from Real Flavors, Liquid Barn, Wonder Flavors, or others that I'm not familiar with. But I've been very disappointed with those I have tried and gave up looking after getting HIC's recipe. You may fare better than I.

CAP Glazed Doughnut is solid. I taste none of the dreadded playdough note and I have a fairly sensitive nose. I think it's one of those genetic things like the whole "Non-Strawberry taster" phenom. Either you do or you don't. If you don't, then It's fairly moist, sweet and has that fried crust note. FA Zeppola is good too. It's profile is a little more "fried", drier and more of a bakery/cakey note. It also has a light nutmeg spice to it, which is a traditional cake doughnut addition. I usually combine them with fairly good results. Hope this helps.

Most strawberry flavorings I do not really taste. Smell wonderful but no flavor.
the only strawberry flavorings I can really taste are the natural extract ones.

I got play dough on the Zeppola. Gave Fresh03 a bit of a hard time over that one since the raved on it so much I bought some.

It's the same for me as well. Also, every cupcake or cake flavoring is just as bad tasting. I've moved onto Cereal 27 and I love the stuff. I'm going to get FA's Breakfast Cereal in my next order.

I do like Jungle Flavors yellow cake. It's the only yellow cake flavoring I'll use since the FW variety is loaded with coil gunking sugars. Caps yellow cake tastes like Play-Doh too, as well as their funnel cake (that one was a major fail).

Wonder Flavors Glazed Donut is pretty spot on donut with glaze(Yeah, hence the name dumbass :giggle:). Its really bready and dark tasting to me but my test batch was at 4% which per WF is on the MAX end of their SC line. With that being said I would go for a maple, nutty or anything that would compliment a dark flavor... I tried making a strawberry donut with it.. just don't its weird and gross-ish.

I have both the CAP and FW yellow cake. The FW isn't too bad tasting, but the above mentioned sugar is too much. I just checked my to buy list and I've got the JF YC on it. It's funny how we just keeping on trying flavors, hoping that the next one will work. I don't know about you, but my flavor stash is taking on a life of its own.

I recently PIFed a medium priority box packed full of flavors that I'd tried and didn't particularly care for. Just personal preference, and I hope the recipient can use them and make great things, but I've settled in on quite a few to keep the "life" in my collection. That subjective taste thing, ya know?

I do know. I'll have to do the same soon. I don't want to hold on to a flavor on the off chance I might like it in a year or so.

"Hey, here are some flavors for you, I hope you like them." "Wow, thanks a lot. Don't you need them?" "Naw, they taste like sweaty gym socks, but you might like them." :)

Have you had CAP's or FA's? If so how do they compare?

Don't care for Caps. I get chemical playdough. Fa Zeppelo is better as an additive imo. Add a more fried and bakery nuance to your recipe, would probably lighten up WFs donut.

Never was a big fan of donuts. But the best donuts I've ever tasted are Big Foot by Decoded... just watch the video review by Convicted Vapes on YouTube. He's right you know. That juice is fucking awesome and taught me how to like donuts.

Strawberry glazed donut
FA juicy strawberry 3.5 %
TFA Bavarian cream dx 2%
TFA sweet cream dx 0.5%
FA zeppola 2.5%
TFA cheesecake graham crust 1%

If you take out the strawberry this should be pretty close to what you're looking for I think! I personally love it with the strawberry though

Same here on the Play dough flavor.
Even Zeppola has just a bit of it to me.

I like the donut flavor personally but not as a stand alone. I usually mix up a blueberry donut and my favorite is lemon donut using lemon cookie flavoring as the 2nd flavor with TFA Frosted Donut.

This is one of my favorite Jelly donut mixes. Just omit the Raspberry sweet.

5% CAP Glazed Donut
4% TPA Bavarian Cream
3% TPA Frosted Donut
3% CAP Vanilla Custard V1
3% TPA Sweet Cream
1% TPA Rasberry Sweet
1% TPA Sweetener

70/30 VG/PG

Steep time: 14-21 days.

Enjoy!!

I just got a 30ml of Glazed Donut (Capella) the other day... Smelled like playdough, tasted like playdough. Very frustrating. I even emailed the distributor about it. Gave it another day to steep before I passed my final judgement and tossed it. Needless to say, I'm in love.... The turn around on this flavor was night and day. I can't get enough if this stuff now...

I love the FA Zeppola and WF Deep Fried Pastry Dough combo myself, usually both at 1% with other things supporting it, like vanilla, some sort of cream (usually FA Vienna), and INW Biscuit to add some AP and body.

Below is my favorite donut recipe I've found to date and it's SPOT ON. I've tried countless donuts too, so hopefully it helps you. Tastes just like a Crispy Cream blueberry donut.

Sold. I only need the WF-DFPD. I'm going to get it next time. Have you tried Flavorah Fried Dough by chance?

I have, it's wicked strong and the first time I tried to use it, it smelled like sweaty sock beer, even after a steep at low %s, so I threw the mix out and never used it again lol!

Deep fried pastry dough is nothing like FLV Fried Dough or FA Joy for that matter, it isn't yeasty at all. If you are looking for a yeasty donut, stick with FA Joy over the FLV IMO, or you could add a little FA Joy in with the Zeppola and DFPD, maybe at like 0.5% or even 0.25% for that matter.

With the DFPD, I never go above 1% in a mix, and most always back it up with FA Zeppola.

It'll be here tomorrow! I am excited to try it out.
Woot! Give it like a week to rest once mixed but if you follow that recipe to a T I almost guarantee it will be what you're looking for!
