This is good. First outstanding experience with LV. Much different than brand new Triade I once again got. It is swimming in juice and still works fine. About 2 months ago it dropped from my pocket onto concrete. Tiny chip. Has not peeled at chip. Apparently the paint is different and much more robust than Triade. Also not affected by juice as is the Triade. At this point the logo on top is just starting to fade. Paint is perfect other than the tiny chip. I have treated this very poorly. It was going to be my beater amongst customs. It nearly looks custom and the build quality is 10/10 imo. It ended up getting a lot more use than expected.. Honestly no one needs to get a custom with this unless you just want to show off. The quality is all there. After 7 Triades I figured LV a joke. Than this. It is top notch. I highly recommend it over the Triade. Also much smaller. At say 90W it lasts within minutes of Triade anyways. This would be my top Chinese production mod and the Triade much lower. After the Triades this really caught me off guard. Perhaps is actually their flagship model. By a mile. Of course YMMV.

Oh my personal taste is the Elephant/black/ CF. Have not checked if they have anything new.

My Therion 166 DNA...still like brand new..iam taking care of it very well..its working flawlessly........!
Happy to hear that you are having a good experience with the Theron. I'm one of mine as I type this.
Steve you legend! just grabbed a 166 all black/carbon/carbon and threw on your ecig settings, guna grab some ss coils next week and try my hand at this temp control stuff as ive never vaped in temp before :O but ive been stalking this thread for a while and you've given some really great advice throughout, thanks alot man.
You're welcome. Thank you for the kind words my friend. I'm glad you like the mod and Ecig file. It's still my most used mod.

PS I just finished a move to Pocono country in PA. Hopefully I'll be able to spend more time on the forum. It's been a crazy summer.

Cheers,
Steve

Steve's ecig files are awesome that's for sure.

I have really became fond of temp control, Steve's files and the Therion are a perfect match.

I have tried TC on several different mods and the Therion is the only mod that I am completely satisfied with it on.

I've moved on from the 166 to the 75c bf myself. A Therion Squonker and TC mode is heaven!

Sent from a Galaxy far far away!

how many of you with therions are mac users? is it a PITA to use a mac to update the therion? even possible?

im also looking into a paranormal. i want to accurately TC mesh and my evic minis are not cutting it. they do an ok job with wire, but getting mixed results with mesh. on two dif evic mins. frustrating as all hell. im hoping to cop a device that does TC properly.

Nice yard Steve! Looks like I won’t be loading the SS430 onto the Boxer I got today... loaded the batteries and started using it and the fire button got hot and it reboots over and over. Sick to my stomach

Sorry to hear that my friend :(. On a positive note, if you bought it from Ginger Vaper I hear they have great CS.

Well, dead. Sort of. My fault I got juice in the usb. Evolv offered to fix it. They are great. Doubt it is a big deal it powers on but going haywire. I tried cleaning the usb with alcohol to no avail. I bet they can fix it in 5 seconds unless it actually needs a new board. LV gave up on repairs so Evolv is handling full warranty on them now. That is very good because LV take 6 months and Evolv a week.

I handled a Paranormal. Imo not as nice as the Therion. I ended up buying another custom. The Therion is sort of fancier looking than most customs for 1/3rd the price but customs are just kind of nicer Imo. Although amazingly the Therion is probably better built too. Like tiny gap in my face plate being hand made. The Therion has extremely tight tolerances. The back has a drop of wiggle but no biggie. I could not even open the battery door on the Paranormal and it is bigger when it should be smaller. Look forward to getting mine fixed. I have many mods and plenty of customs but the Therion was my daily driver.

reporting in a month later. Awesome little mod this is! il probably never use another regulated device until this packs up. i haven't gotten round to temp control just yet  does anyone have any reccommended coil builds for TC? bearing in mind my current build skill is capped at fused claptons.

obligatory hand check.

I'm happy to hear you like the Theron. It's basically the only mod I use anymore. It's hard to put it down. As for TC builds, this will probably sound boring but here goes. I use a simple dual coil setup in a 25mm Aromamizer Supreme, 7 wraps, spaced, 2.5mm, 28ga SS430 (from Unkamen). I get great results (well at least I'm happy with it :teehee:)

Cheers,
Steve

I'm not familiar with this mod. I also have never linked a mod to a computer. Would a person be happy with this device out of the box (for TC w/SS316L)? Or would I have to learn how to update it or do a bunch of adjustments? If its better to load files or whatever, how easy would it be for somebody who's never done it before?

You will be able to use it out of the box no problem. Think of it like this.... you can hook it up to your PC and fine tune it with escribe but I’m sure there’s plenty of people who never do use escribe that own DNA mods. Remember you also have great support via the forum.

All I did with this mod is load the file from Wings and fire away.... it works great so really never need to update unless something earth shattering comes out.

Escribe is simple to use, especially if you have files ready to upload. If you do get a DNA (200 or 75) shoot me a PM and I can send you the files @Carmmond , myself and a lot of others are using.

You will have to make some adjustments if you are going to use TC, but then, you make adjustments for wattage mode. This is the case for any mod.
The builtin settings for SS316 will likely provide good vaping, but the DNAs shine when you use EScribe to dial in exactly what you like.
EScribe is not a hard thing to use, and @Wingsfan0310 has a great setup file for your use. Get the mod, EScribe, and that setup file and you'll be way happier than the stock settings. Afterwards, when you want to tweak this or that, you'll have a starting place and a fallback/failsafe configuration.

No matter the progress of other chips in other mods, the DNA experience is still the gold standard of the TC world.

The Paranormal. The battery retention is vastly superior but can be hard to open. The panels hardly move no big deal. it is slightly larger than the Therion but not as wide. The wider grip felt better in the hand. The bent metal through the center from buttons to 510 looks cheaper than the Therion. Plus juice can end up inside. Overall it is an upgrade to the Therion. Since no custom looks like this it is good. A custom is usually much better quality. Had many LV mods and none lasted more than 4 months, You are most likely to find Paranormal 166 now and Therion supply dwindling. Most sites sold out of the Therion.

He has to be vary rough on them mine have lasted over a year and still going.... paint has come off the plastic but they are still going strong. I just got a Boxer mod in hopes that I don't have to worry about the color going bad.

No, seriously just very bad luck. Not kidding. In some way maybe my fault. Ranging from bad cells to juice in the USB ETC. I cannot say they were all LV's fault at all really. Maybe say 2 of them were outright their fault. I just use them as disposable. It breaks, get another.

Best in the world is subjective. Perhaps best Chinese production in the world. Yes, for that they are really good and them dying does not count. As I just said most them were pretty much my own fault. Even if sometimes inadvertently. Now a High end Stabwood custom to me is better depending on which one. The circuit is no better. It is also a DNA250 and the 510 ETC are similar at this point. It is just the beauty of the case then. Therion or Paranormal's design is undoubtedly the nicest in production. A custom is more a work of art. Anyone can make flat Carbon fiber, Wood..... Leather just wrapped, no stitching. Well a couple do now. It is by machine though. A really exotic looking Resin in wood looks nicer to me. It is certainly subjective because LV is very high end looking.

Those that complained panels move on Paranormal. Hardly notice it. Mine move less than .5mm. Maybe it is tolerances and QC. that is always where the Chinese fail. Mine is fine though and as I said the battery retention is vastly superior but can be difficult to open. Taking it apart is more involved too. This is less likely to short out. Famous last words! The Therion is much heavier and feels better in the hand. The Paranormal is an evolution of it. I imagine at this point it would be difficult to even find a Therion. I will say they got their paint right now. The Therion and Paranormal. The Triade was a disaster IMO. 2 batteries is good. 1 is too little run time. Plus I originally said the Paranormal was larger. Not. It is both smaller and lighter. I do not think this design can get much smaller but I am sure they will think of something. Either one is a good size for me. The Triade is much too big and heavy for me.

The only thing that you might want to change is the watt hours. I don't have those cells but I think the VTC6's are rated at a higher mah. Watt Hours = mah x 7.4 (3.7v nominal voltage x 2 for 2 cells in series) / 1000. If they are 3000mah it would work out to 22.2 Watt Hours.

Cheers,
Steve

Edit A couple of things:
1. It will only affect the battery bar accuracy.
2. Since you are using my file it may be already set at 22.2WH. I can't remember if either I changed it for you or if you changed it yourself.

I have had very bad luck with LV. Latest was Therion died so got Paranormal. Died in 16 day's. I was just packing it to go to Evolv. The battery door broke off removing the batteries but who cares it was already dead. I also find Evolv may have the best user control but very fragile. All DNA mods from 20 to 250 dead. Other mods work fine for years. Just my experience but YMMV. If you pay $130 for this okay but at $200 MSRP there is better to be had I feel. Not trolling just telling my own experience. They do look good and that is why I keep buying them. I am sure I have bad luck as others have been fine. Right now I would wait though as 250 color is coming.

Ok Steve Thanks...YES your settings in Mod tab is set by you in 22.2 Watt Hours and Cell Soft Cutoff in 2.8 V
In Your VTC5 settings in Mod tab you have set 19.24 Watt Hours and Cell Soft Cutoff in 2.8 V
So iam ok with 22.2 Watt Hours and Cell Soft Cutoff in 2.8 V right??
The batteries VTC6 are Sony Konion VTC6 3120mah...
