I've done 'em. You can lightly hammer them first, if you like. It'll help to even everything out. But not too much, or you'll wear through the wraps when you polish them. If I can find it, I have a pic of where I did just that. The thing is, you should really use a heaver gauge wrap to get a good polish - maybe 33 or 34 gauge.

sanded the back down with 300, just to remove a bit of mass from the 34, then i polished the top side on a drill with 400, 600, 800, 1k and 2k.

thanks man  im pretty happy with how polishing turned out. this was my first time trying to polish anything other than 20 and 22g round wire. dunno if it improves the vape at all but it looks nice for a pic. another new technique in the pile as well :D

How are you going about polishing them? Before you coil it up?

i did the back before i coiled it up, by clamping both ends of the whole piece of wire (about ten inches) flat to my desk and hand sanding it with 300 grit. once i got the bumps a little flatter i coiled the whole wire (with the sanded side down) up onto my coil jig (13 wraps i think) and clamp that into the chuck of my drill, with a little piece of bare core wires to hold it steady. then i pinched small strips of increasingly smaller grit sandpaper on it and hit the drill at medium, checking often to make sure i didnt blow through the wraps like chef was talking about.

Sounds tricky is there a vid anywhere mate to show that process? Or even a guide of some sort

Would love to give it a try!

excerpt from post your builds, regarding a set of 5 x 30/40 aliens:

Awesome man...how do you keep the 5 cores in a line? I just did a 3 core clapton, it's a triangle of cores of course

i used high gauge wrap, two ribbon sliders, and almost zero tension on anything. its also in the prep of the cores. i tie mine together at the end with high gauge wire and clamp it flat, then add a dab of hot glue stick. then i make two ribbon sliders on that end and slide them towards the side thats not glued together, gather it all up, tie and glue it too. then when im on the drill wrapping the clapton/alien around it, if i see anything start to bunch up, i stop the drill and squeeze the cores flat (nylon pliers) asap. you can catch/fix it if you are vigilant

I'm not confident enough to sell coils but if no one here will sell you them then have a look at pristinecoils, he does all sorts of wire to sell and his work's tidy as fuck

In fact there's loads of sellers. Just go have a look round Instagram at the builders on there, loads of fantastic work and half of them sell their work :)

Ah fair does. Ya could always look at the vendor/seller area, I know there's a few people on here who do sell their work as well. Just not sure about the rules surrounding it myself.

I won't be building today, I'm too excited about starting my programming class assignments....! The Nerd is strong with me. I got some more 3x28/38 twisted claptons yesterday and put those in, it's good enough for today hehe

I figured out the hard way that you have to leave a little air gap either side of the wick, otherwise the juice won't wick easily

I guess I lucked into using that technique in every rdta. You don't need to do it with the limitless so much as rdtas tank having holes in the ceiling of the atty.

Dunno how clear that is but I tend to clear a gap on the left of each side of the wick to leave room for the juice to run up. Without that air gap it tends to strangle the juice from wicking

Had to scrap the 6x28, think I figured out how easy it would be to get a 6 pack shape of cores though haha

I don't put any holes in my wick, I just stop the cotton on the ledge, I guess there may be a hole between the coil and the cotton though

Yummeh!

Nice work meg, I don't think it's always necessary to leave a gap but with this setup I like a bit of cotton in the juice so it's soaking the coil between uses. Nothing worse than a dry hit on a DL lol

By the way @Zohmbiebuilds, I don't think it was the pyro that was being troublesome for wicking, I remember the post you're talking about. Was it the kylin? Pretty sure it was an RTA not an RDTA like

Next time you decore can you post a pic if it so I can get an idea of how much stretch. Can't really see anything in any videos.

This will be faster: go to 6:45 in this one

He shows a good closeup a few seconds after that

I would do a picture but I don't do any wrapping on weekends, so you'd be waiting a while!

When you guys talk about angles for wrapping aliens, like 10 degrees, do you mean in front or behind where you're wrapping? I got a yard stick right in front of me when I build now, so I'm seeing the angles more precisely, and holding my wire about 2 degrees behind where I'm wrapping worked good for keeping them tight, I was doing about 10 degrees ahead but got lots of spacing

We mean to lead the alien wire, if you do 10 degrees behind then you'll end up doubling over your alien

Hey guys quick ? When you do a stitched alien does the stitch wire have to be smaller then the wrap wire thats being aliened. All the vids iv seen they do 36awg with a 40 awg stitch is there a reason?

My first stitched I used the same gauge. It just didn't want to wrap properly - not enough room I guess. Ever since, I've gone 2 gauges smaller (36/38, 38/40, etc.) for the stitch and had no problems. My guess is there's some sort of displacement going on.

Nice, but that's a stitched - not an interlock. Interlock uses 2x decores. As for making it easier, thread it before you stretch it. Leave the stitch on the spool and unwind as you stretch. Make sure to leave extra stitch wire after you clip it. For inserting, I like to just push it through. A smooth surface really helps with this. But don't push to fast or it'll catch on the inside of the decore. There are probably easier ways, but this works for me so far.

I turned the one 3x28/36 coil I made last week into two, now it's spitting like crazy at me even at lower wattage.

There are no hot spots, and I've rewicked with So Much cotton there is actually muted flavor, and I could barely squeeze it in there, but still spits at me! My juice is at least 85% VG... I think I ruined my alien wire somehow? Anyone know? These coils should be great at 80-100 watts, but it spits painfully even at 60 watts if the cotton is anything but almost dry :(
