dripping without building coils or mech mods

So I got my first vape about 6 months ago to quit smoking. Nowadays I run with an eleaf istick power and a clieto exo tank.
I want to start using dripping atomizers so I can change flavours whenever I want but I don't feel ready to get into mech mods or making my own coils. so I'm wondering what options are out there for someone like me?

thanks

For an RDA, you must be able to install coils and wick them. Coils can be purchased ready-made, even some with wicks already pulled through them. Either that or make real good friends at your local vape shop.

You don't need a mech mod to drip. I use RDA's with SS316L SS wire on regulated mods in TC mode. I don't see how you can use an RDA with out at least learning how to install pre-wrapped coils and learning to wick them.

Your Eleaf will work fine for dripping as long as you keep the coils to simple single wire coils or Claptons. Buildings not as hard as it may seem.

I have several DNA and SXmini mods but I still sometimes exercise my old MPV 20 watt mod with an RDA. You just build for the power you have available.

Just went to my local vape shop, they told me that they generally sell beginners to RDA's a mesh based RDA as opposed to a coil. I'll be buying a mesh RDA from them when payday comes.

Thought I'd leave this here for others...

I wouldn't recommend a Mesh RDA at all for a beginner.

You can get a decent RDA and you can get pre-made coils but seriously building coils is easy. It's not rocket science wrapping wire around a jig.

just that it is simpler

Mesh won't be simpler. There's a discussion in the Squonkers Are Bonkers thread. Here's a quote where the discussion starts. You can read from there and get a better understanding why it's not simpler. Understand too, these are veteran vapers who have seen a lot in vaping.

@BrewBear have you seen the Digiflavor Mesh PRO RDA?

This isn't to discourage or to create drama. It's to inform you as a new vaper. Your local shop is not really helping in this case.

Here's the response back. That'll save you needing to try keeping up in Bonkers Land. :) We get rather verbose there.

Sure did! It looks interesting but those deeeep juice wells aren't a squonk dream. Yes, the wick is saturated but I think the juice will pool in the wells rather than drain back in the bottle ( look at the pic. with the protruding bf pin) My main reason for getting the Mesh in the first place was because the deck looked like a bigger Nuppin deck kinda ( but not quite). I'll stick with the Nuppin.

Pure BS - nothing simple about mesh at all

I just started building coils. My local shop helped and with cotton and single coils builds. Really easy and saves a ton of money doing this. I have a mesh atty and it sits in my stash for later use. I have not gotten mesh down yet. I agree with everyone a simple single coil build on a drip atty would be the best. No neeed for a mech mod. If you get a simple build kit with all the items needed to build coils you should be set. I have a coil master simple kit $25 and a coil jig to measure ohms. A couple sets of wire and cotton. That’s all you need and it took me about 5-10 coils to get it right.

I don't have mesh and I have been contemplating it. Not in a real rush. Main question I have is the flavor any better than my RDA's? What is the big draw to it as of late?

Cheaper manufacturing practices. It may seem contrary to produce something that can use both mesh and coils, long run to the production goal though, it saves money. You only need to load up one CAD file, tweak a few specs to slap out a "New" designed RDA that surprise, uses mesh and coils too. Cheaper also because costumer base has complained about "over complication" of using wire for coils, fix it by using mesh, no over complication to that. Cut to size, stick tabs A & B into slots C & D, vape. This way you don't spend overhead needing to educate new customers.

Also note, there's more to using mesh than what i write there. Check out Youtube videos on it. There's a big process to having to oxidize it and such. Some even use cotton with mesh, despite using mesh supposedly being a way to avoid cotton use ... yeah, go figure. ;)

Of course, i'm not a "thinker or planner" I'm just the one they shove into the door and say "Do!" To me though the above speculation on "business" ends seems logical, to make good economic sense based off experience in a few factories, a few fast food places, a few other jobs as well.

Wait until you start building your own Claptons. :) I'm just hand twisting using pliers. Can already see a lot of difference over single strand of wire. Eventually, I might grow up to be a @raymo2u. *bows down in reverence* He builds art. :)

Out for supper, might be back later on, early morning. If not there's plenty of parked cars. *grin*

Second and third what the others said regarding mesh..
It's much more difficult to get good at, when compared to popping in prewrapped coils.
Sounds like a shop with an overstock of mesh rdas.

You can buy pre-made coils all over the place nowadays, so no need to really learn to build so much as how to install and clip the excess from the legs.

Shush, folks'll not buy coils from Jedi artisan coil builders. Keep a lid on your hat, or hat on your lid. :)

Now, where did I put that ear worm?

Tossing my 2 cents into this conversation.
In my opinion what you'll need is firstly an understanding of ohm's law.
Next you'll need a RDA
I recommend 1 that will be easy to setup the Hadaly would be a good start. And the Mesh RDA would be easy to setup but stick to maybe using coils in it.

EDIT; I think what your shop keeper meant was it would be easier to use mesh as it doesn't need to be wrapped into a coil.Just snip a bit off an end and insert it into the base stuff it with cotton and your done.
On that I'd agree with them.
But you could also and should get some pre-made coils.Ask around for help in selecting a few good brands.
Just keep in mind what works for some will not always work for you as well.
Vaping is subjective.

Get a $20 drill from Walmart.
Buy a Spool of 28g N80 (100ft $4-7)
Buy a spool of 36g SS or N80 (250ft $5)
Grab a 5pk of spool Tamers ($4 on ebay)

Put the 28g In the drill, you can use as much as you want, just let it lay on the floor. Put the spool tamer on the 36g spool and make it semi tight, hook it up to the drill. Hit the trigger and the 36g should wrap the 28g, the spool tamer will self-feed, hold the spool tamer or have it all lay flat on the floor and just hold the drill trigger...

Easy Claptons, you can also use this for fused claptons. Once you get the hang of it and want to go further I can show you how much more you can easily do with this same setup....

It may cost a bit more then some Chinese premade coils...but you'll never need to buy coils again and depending on the wire you buy the coils you make can last months upon months of use before needing to make more. You can make 10ft of fused clapton or clapton in a few minutes and coils them up and store them yourself.

If you need links or more information just message me...Ill get you set up.

MESH IS WICKING MATERIAL....theres a reason why it didnt have popularity back in the day...

Even worse, seriously. If it wasn't it would be taking off, there's a reason why it's not.

Think I'd find a different B&M - heck Black Friday is in a few days and online shops will be practically giving shit away

AVV is also likely to put out a coupon for a percentage off of coils and/or wire

I am always in awe of the artisan-ship of the master @raymo2u . Think his page of coil photos is pure erotic art, nearing mild pornography. There is also the sublime wafting of the Force through the coils in his photos. His words here help enlighten me a very good bit. Have learned now where the tension must be, was not as I thought, but where I suspected. Spool tamers buy, I must. I'll then be better equipped to wind by hand or drill.

I've tried using rubber bands. They do not work out as well as I expected. Been sufficing with letting wire slip through pinched fingers. This sees me having the wraps a bit too far spaced, uniform but still a bit "loose". I will improve though and know it's all in the experience, time, getting there. :)

Yes, I'm also learning that gloves of leather might help. This silly blood poisoning is getting to be a little hassle to fuss over. Will need to locate some kidskin gloves.

TemCo industrial is good for wire too, not to upstage Stu. There's also Kbee . I've used their wire before, it's very clean and good quality wire. Stu, Advanced Vaping (poop, apologies for forgetting a simple name), wire is also very clean and good quality wire. Any of these three will offer good wire for coils, affordably too.

The OP just wants to start dripping - not ready to start a clapton factory guys

Sorry, i'm not knocking Stu or his company/vendor at all. I'm merely tossing out a few different options, including Stu & his company/vendor. I just honestly forgot the name, recall only Advanced Vaping, for me that's enough to know who ... "look, it's Stu!" :)

Well, hmmmmm ... uh oh. Guess I got addicted to coil building, huh?

"My name is Fred, I am suffering yet another affliction in combination with squonk-aholism, I suffer coil builderism. These are both nasty addictive habits. i am telling all my childrens to not ever start. it's already too late for me."

This is reminding me of the old ECF days when some poor fucker would post a thread asking about what level nicotine juice to buy and the next thing you know everyone is pestering the guy to go DIY - with an expensive "must have" list (amber bottles, scale, etc) when all they wanted to do was buy a 30ml bottle of juice

Temco is excellent, it's real Sandvik unlike the shit wire from KBee. KBee SS is maybe fair but their Kanthal is filthy shit wire.

Had not tried Kbee Kanthal yet, appreciate the heads up though. :) Been getting Kanthal & N80(Nichrome) from Temco. Got some fair to good SS from FastTech of all places, though I probably ought to not be surprised they would have relatively good quality wire, or access to those that do.

You know we have to set the hooks of shinyitis quickly with new vapers. ;) :p

I do understand your point though, humor aside. Give too much information and data you overwhelm. Not enough and you're some drama queen or something. Damned either way. Heaven's too dull and would be Hell for my kind, Hell don't want us because we'd take over. Then my wife tells me I don't need to worry, she's not giving me retirement anyway.

Think she figures I beat death once, sees the new sex robots being made, knows i'd not mind being an effing machine. She'll probably clone my core persona and drop me into a bot, letting me cheat death a second time. Never can tell with her and that nutty witchcraft. :)

0.16 ohm @ 90 watts is not that power hungry dude.
I've been noticing a lot of smack talk from people about the mesh rda & the mesh pro.

If they are ready to jump in the dripping scene. What I'd recommend is getting a couple big bags of decent pre-made coils. And 1 small box/bag/whatever of 1 type of exotic to try.
Matter of fact here's a link for some Aspire Claptons below.

Didn't really see it that way at first
Figured it as prewar coils, rda, cotton. And that's it.

But only cotton from Virgin fairies
